Manchester United vs. Valencia CF | Champions League | 7/12/10

Taking lessons from O'shea so to speak..

Yeah doing that "defending" thing is a bad inditement to accuse a fullback in the modern game. He should really try not to learn a thing from the Maicon vs. Bale experience.

I think Anderson and Rooney have been pretty close in that half for United's best player. Rooney did more in that half than your analysis suggests, he has been bright from the opening periods of the match alongside Anderson. Encouraging signs from both. Rooney's laid on two chances for United and also hit the bar with that effort. Anderson's made some good runs and played some creative through balls and also played very well.

I was exaggerating obviously but Rooney was hardly involved for at least 12 minutes, Ando has done far more.

Rooney did pick up big time though so hopefully he'll go on to earn his plaudits in the remainder of the game.

Bloody hell. There's been a few mistakes, Carrick's just been the one that has punished.

I forgot games ended at half time

The matchday thread once again lives up to its repuation.
The keyword was potentially and well the record is gone and does not change even in the second half ;)

Anyway he needs to get the error out of his system and get back to the way level he's been playing off late.

Yep I've enjoyed it too, some very pleasing football at times. Hopefully we'll start getting the end of the move right in the second half. Like you say we could have had 5. A few goals to win the game and a good goal from Rooney to get him going before the Arsenal match would be ideal.

Exactly, we're looking really good going forward and are a goal down due to a silly error - if we carry on making the chances then we'll be fine I'm sure and as you say we've got some big games coming up and we're hitting our stride at just the right time.

If i was SAF i'd simply tell them to ignore the fact we're 1 down and go out and play the same way, but to be more clinical when the chances come.

really good watch though - Andersons passing and movement has been outstanding at times!

It really has, the last few games Andersons looked the player we all saw earlier on in his career, hes been brilliant, shame hes being let down by his midfield partner.

Throw the kitchen sink at them, take Vidic off for Chicharito , get Park and Nani to play up front and make the twins our wingers, we'll play a revolutionary 1-4-5.. feck YEAH!

Or.... We could just carry on as we were and go on to win the game anyway..

How the hell can a bloke who in his last game scored FIVE goals look as though his confidence is shot to pieces???
The enigma of Berbatov.

That is how Berbatov has looked for the vast majority of his time in a United shirt, even when he's playing well.

Seeing him smiling and confident is the anomaly.

Carrick giving the ball was something others have done during the half but we got punished for it but what was more dissapointing was if he had been a little more eager to get back to cover the player out wide sooner he could have been back blocking the shot possibly stopping the goal. Instead he let the pass get to him, he dropped his head and switched off when he should have been trying to get back to cover. As when the shot was taken he was the one trying to block the shot when if he had just not switched off immediately after the pass he could have been a bit closer to possibly make a difference.

As it is we should be a few goals up before that as we have made chances just lack of control, players slipping on the pitch and Anderson continuing his form of not knowing what to do in front of goal has meant we are 1-0 down instead.

A little bit more urgency in the 2nd half from the players and we should convert some of the chances if we continue making them.

Bring Fletcher on for Carrick and get someone who can pass to a red shit alongside Anderson, poor blokes having to run the midfield on his own.

I thought you had a more level head on your shoulders than to write that.

Carrick has been disappointing, yes, but we both know he's much better than tonight's performance...

Hernandez will come around the 70 minute mark and score.

Put money on it .

Two Hernandezs on the scoresheet. :D

Anyone think Amos is on simply because Fergie has to play four "homegrown" players every game?

feck me, Rooney can cross the ball can't he?

Berbatov should've done better.

rooney has been awesome. Deserves a goal. Carrick dribbles and passes backwards. anderson does well up until the opponent's third and has a brainfart. The back 4 have been good.
