PARK-A true unsung hero

Park has been a true value signing for us. The ability to perform in big games on a such a regular basis is something special. His effort and attitude makes him so useful to our side. I'm just happy he's added more goals to his game because he used to struggle with that in his early years. Now he just seems to find a way to score.

feckin' hell the cnut slips over and it hits him on the head and deflects in and now he's the new Bale.

Bitter, much?

Shame were gonna lose Park for 7+ games for the Asian cup.

If Valencia weren't injured it wouldn't have meant that much. As it stands, we should maybe organize a Please-Park-Stay(tm) petition to be signed by everyone who ever called for his departure as "we don't need a defensive winger." Lot of signatures there.

anyone have his goal record against arsenal? in all competitions?
must be more than 1 in 2 games on average surely.

One of the commentators had it as three goals in six starts (before today).

Take with a pinch of salt, as it was a commentator.

Yeah yeah and this cnut just cannot stop scoring against your beloved gooners. Difficult times isn't it?

He wasnt great today, but his work rate was excellent as usual and scored against Arsenal, again. No complaints from me

Take nothing away from a great goal but I thought his touch was appalling tonight. His defensive work was quite good as well, but his touch... Truly woeful, I'm sorry.

I thought his touch was excellent. How many times did he draw a foul or keep possession. Don't confuse being in the thick of the action in a hard fought midfield battle with poor touch.

Hmm - watching the interview on Skysports site and said we'd lose him after the 26th for several games to the Asian Cup ... ewwww !!!! Hope Goggs stays fit.

Yeah i heard that, leaves us a bit short out wide with Valencia still a couple of months away.

Can Cleverley play out wide? I think we're meant to be calling him back for January.

Mind you, we'll have neither of them for the Birmingham game on the 28th.

to be fair, he's probably a better fullback.

I don't really understand the malcontents on this forum, should United hand back the points if any squad player scores?

Sorry FA, Park should not have been near that first team ... have the three points back, if O'Shea scores a winner hand back twelve, if Evans hand back thirty!

I mean seriously, Park is a fantastic player who has troubled Milan sides when Bale's voice was breaking.

He's scored at least 5 goals against the top teams in England in recent years.

2008 Chelsea away: 1:1
2009 Arsenal away CL: 3:1 (the first goal)
2010 Arsenal away 3:1 (the third goal)
2010 Liverpool 2:1 (the winner)
2010 Arsenal 1:0 (the winner).

His goals to games ratio vs the top PL teams must be the best in our team?

Given that's its now twice he's dicked all over your lot by (according to you) slipping over do you feel that Arsenal should have players slipping over more often?

Because Park has in the last two years now scored against Arsenal Football Club as many goals as Arsenal Football Club have managed against Manchester United (3 apiece).

Which is decent for a shit squad player you'd say?

I thought he was bit below his best yesterday but the goal was quality. Am happy for him

Park will retire from international football after the Asian Cup, according to his dad.

He's fecked off and we've fallen apart like a game of jenga. Coincidence ?

And before anyone says " well we won today, so it doesn't matter " , we CLEARLY didn't deserve 3 points today.

Coincidence to the extent that it's happened at the same time Nani and Valencia are injured and the one game Giggs played he was positioned on the wrong side.

We've 'fallen apart' because of the terrible lack of width. Look at how much ball Obertan was getting when he was on the left. He was poor and didn't seem to know what to do with the ball, but we kept giving him the ball because he was out there making himself available. Now imagine what any of our main four wingers would've been able to do with that much ball.

Agreed, but injuries are inevitable every season, and we know that Giggs cannot play every match.

United need three to four top class wingers to negotiate any season, and recently Park has highlighted his status as one of those top class wingers without which United cannot play as it customarily does.

Rooney used as a winger means he has to try to do it all himself once he gets past his man, and Darron Gibson used on the right wing means United become very narrow.

I guess every club in the Prem would struggle if they had their four best wingers out at the same time for various reasons. We're left with Obertan, Fletcher and Gibson... considering these options we've done fantastically over the busy Christmas period (even though we had Giggs available in our last two games).
As soon as Nani comes back we'll be in less trouble IMHO. Time to recall Cleverley though, he'd get plenty of time ahead of Obertan.

We've got three to four top class wingers.

.....
Actually we have only 2 top wingers. I great back up while the last is a former winger who can miraculously still do a job there at his age. Even at the start of the season we needed one extra quality winger. It's no surprise we had looked in Di Maria's direction prior to Real snatching him and have been monitoring Sanchez. Hopefully Cleverly might be that man for us next year.

He has been a massive loss. It's amazing how important a player looks when he is not there.

who would of thought we would miss park this much. When Nani is back one wide side should be covered but boy park is crucial

He'll be back soon. South Korea have been eliminated in the semis of the Asian Cup by Japan, on penalties. Park drew a penalty to set up a goal (1:45 into the clip below) in the first half, didn't get to take his pen in the shootout because the first three Koreans failed to convert.

It looks like some pretty awful refereeing in that match.

Well, it'll be good to get Park Ji Sung back.

Congratulations to him on an amazing International career that is now coming to an end.

His performances for his country in the 2002 World Cup are something I will never forget.

Great news.

To think we're five points top, and in a month we'll have Park, Valencia and a fit Scholes to add to our side.
