Nani

Top lad is our nanners. We were all unsure at first but its hard not to love him.

Opinion outside this forum says he was outstanding in this game. Did my naked eye lie to me? This was the frustrating Nani year or two ago.
I loved how Rooney slammed him for that ridiculous shot at goal when he got the ball back from Clichy. I loved it because I know that now Nani can take such criticism and not let it affect him, yet he needed someone to chew him up. That was a key moment to kill the game.

I think its because people usually don't take notice of players until they watch them in big games. Nani has been consistently much better over the season than he was today, but he looked dangerous and wasn't afraid to take on Glichy. If anything his game at Emirates last year was 10x better.

He needs games like this to keep him on track, kinda helps him realize that not everything he touches turn into gold. Hope he'll get back on track against Chelsea.

On another note, the commentators said that in the last 40 games he STARTED, we didn't lose. That's 2 years and a half. Pretty amazing methinks.

He was good. He's got so much to his play that each time he had the ball on the right Clichy could do very little. He cans go down the right and cross it just as easily as he can cut inside and shoot.

His shot let to the goal. His efforts led to the penalty. He got himself that goal opportunity which he blasted over the bar when he should have just kept the ball on the ground.

He did alright. He posed a major threat all by himself, which was more than the Arsenal attackers could say. His deflected cross/shot led to Park's goal but I'm not sure he will be credited with the assist for that. He also caused Clichy to handball for our penalty.

You could say he was involved in key moments without being at his best.

Easily the most frustrating player these days, you know he has the ability to do anything on the pitch and by anything I mean the great and the bad.He had an ok match I guess as he kept constantly posing problems for Clichy, his deliveries were poor I think (except for the one Song put out in corner) and his attempt on goals were not the best chosen.
He has still gotta make improvements in terms of decision making

^ Very true , the technique was completely wrong, it's what I meant even if it's not crystal clear in my previous post.I had no problem with him taking the shot as there was enough space and the opportunity was good.
I just didn't understand why he hit it the way he did

Oh do feck off with that Rooney bollocks. Wayne and Dimitar make errors like that all time yet when its their team mates, they have the audacity to have whine. Nani had every right to take shot because he earned it. On another night that would have been going for the back of the net.

Rooney's penalty miss has sweet feck all to do with nani getting rightfully bollocked after making two dreadful decisions in quick succession.

I thought his decision to shoot the 2nd time round was the right one, it was just the execution. Hard and low across the face is what it should have been.

Actually Nani quite often remonstrates these days when a ball isn't played to him after he makes a run and they choose something else.

That just seems to be the way some players express their competitive nature. It's not to say that players that don't throw hissy fits every time they don't get what they wanted from their teammates are any less competitive - just different.

That said - Rooney and Berba overdo it for me. They need to tone it down and more often than not, applaud their teammates for their effort or what they were trying to do.

It has everything to do with it.
Who the feck is Rooney to make noise when he wouldn't have done any better? Nani was right to shoot, no doubt about it. It's his execution that was dreadfully off.

Exactly. The Rooney hating is getting boring and repetitive now.

But how do we know that he wouldn't have done better? He was in a much better position for the shot than Nani.

But what the feck do I know I'm watching muppets Christmas Carol at the moment :)

Actually it does, as the decisions would have been less important had Rooney actually scored as opposed to putting the ball into orbit.

Eh? The penalty was a good half hour AFTER Nani cocked up. How on earth could that have any relevance whatsoever on whether Rooney's reaction to Nani's wasteful play was justifiable or not?

What happens if Nani misses a penalty against Chelsea? Does that mean we're all ok with Rooney shouting at him in the Arsenal game?

Nani is consistently a threat , every game... he does'nt let a few failed attempts to strut his stuff get to him.......

he still goes down like a sack of s**t too often though.......

Yes.

I never understand why people on here take such umbrage at players being given a bollocking. Either they haven't played the game or are very sensitive souls. But I assure you Nani won't have given it a second thought, just as he doesn't when he gets a Berbabollocking on a weekly basis. It's all water off a duck's back to them.

not his best game, some poor choices on a few promising counters but still provided the crucial assist and unlucky not to score on a tough volley. Seemed to have problems with his footing all game however.

I'll take that as his poor game any day of the week.

Nani was still involved and contributed to the win. His lucky cross that led parks goal ofcourse. As for his shot, he had every right to take it on. It was a good angle and he should have scored. If it was an impossible angle, it would have been a bad choice. I think he was absolutely within his rights to shoot but you get grief if you miss..

You miss a penalty you will get yelled at. Simple as.

Someone else who's never played a game of football in his life. Probably the one and only time it's not acceptable to bollock someone is after they missed a penalty.

Just try bawling out someone who just missed a penalty. If he doesn't chin you, someone else on your team will.

You'd get chinned and rightly too, if you have the balls to step up and take a penalty when the pressure is on you don't get abuse when you miss, you'll get sympathy. Football is all about when to let a team-mate know that he is acting the arse and when to put the hand around the shoulder and give encouragement. It's a fine art but when people abuse it and don't know how to use it they get sorted out very very quickly.

I don't get it either. It's always about the same three attacking players as well, no issue made of the constant bollockings which Rio gives out to VDS or vice versa.

I don't know what would have been made of the 94 side on here when Kanchelskis used to go direct for goal all the time and Ince/Keane/Hughes and Eric were about. Or of what Schmeichel, Bruce and Pallister used to get upto.

Pogue's right as well, the idea someone would get a bollocking for missing a pen during the game is insane. I've never seen anything like that at United.
