Tottenham v Manchester United

We'll start with our away European shape and line up something like:

VDS
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Fletcher Carrick
Nani -- Anderson -- Giggs
Rooney

We'll go 2-0 down and at that point Fergie will throw Berbatov on for Fletcher and we'll win 3-4

We'll finish up playing something like:

VDS
Ferdinand Vidic
Rafael Carrick Anderson Evra
Nani Hernandez Berbatov Rooney

We haven't lost to them in 23 games. (Five draws, including the final we won.) Out of the last nine games at WHL we've won seven and drawn two. Spurs are our bitches, and will remain so. Bitches will get a top-1-ing.

I don't know why everyone is shitting themself over Harry and Co, they're a good attacking side but concede too many goals, plus they are to inconsistant.

It won't be easy and they'll have a go at us, but let's not get to caught up in the spurs drama.

I knew Everton would spank Spurs before there last game kicked off, they're a bunch of tart's with no grit, and try to serve up a club sandwhich without any bread or butter.

I don't care at all for 'the invincible' tag so would not mind if we lost this one to be honest. I don't want it to become a monkey on our back towards the end of the season, when the team might subconsciously try not to lose matches instead of trying to win them in order to maintain such a record.

It'd be utterly hilarious if we won in "second gear" and "without playing well" - the press will be tearing their hair out.

You might not care for the tag, but how on Earth can you say you wouldn't mind us losing? Bizarre.

Why does every match thread start with a bunch of people saying they have a bad feeling about this one? Do some of you guys have bad feelings about every game ffs?

That's true but it is not going to be an easy as some people think - like the 2-0 and 3-0 scorelines.

I think we WILL play 4-3-3 because Tottenham is playing 4-3-3 often this year after they got VDV. We most definitely need the extra man in midfield to take care of Modric and VDV.

I'm not saying it'll be easy but I think we can contain them and stop them scoring. I reckon we'll do them 2-0.

If Rafael puts Bale back in his pocket like at OT and we have Carrick in front of Rio and Vidic then I'm confident we can keep a handle on VDV and Modric and stifle them from their midfield.

.... they're a bunch of tart's with no grit ...
Spurs have won plenty of games this season coming back from a losing position. We've also won twice playing with just 10 men for most of the game.

I see no shortage of grit.

Any injuries for your team?

Any injuries for your team?
King and Woodgate (of course), Huddlestone is still out, as is O'Hara ... that's all I'm aware of pending any updates from the club after yesterday's FA Cup game.

Pretty much except Scholes is back now isn't he? I'd have him over Anderson, his passing range would cause Spurs all sorts of problems.

---Rafael-------Ferdinand--------Vidic------Evra---

--Nani----------Fletcher----Anderson--------Giggs--

Bench: Lingaard, Evans, Scholes, Obertan, Carrick, Owen, Hernandez
Prediction:0-1 Hernandez 87th min winner off the subs bench

The one bonus about playing Spurs (and probably the reason we have done well over the years) are that they are always there for the taking as they prefer a open game.

I'm much more confident of these sorts of matches, then the more cagey affairs against the Chelsea's and Pool's. But then again, you might be caught with your pants down on just one of those days where everything seems to go horribly wrong for your team.

Add to the fact that Spurs owe us quite a few... ;)

I'll go for a 1-1. (heart says 2-1 United, head says heart is greedy, 1-1).

It means that they're due a win against us :nervous:

Team should be...

GK: VDS

RB: Rafael
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra

RM: Nani
CM: Fletcher
CM: Carrick
LM: Giggs

CF: Rooney
CF: Berbatov

Subs: PIG, Smalling, Evans, Fabio, Anderson, Hernandez, Owen

1-1

Think it will depend on the formation we play, what the result is. We should field a 4-5-1 with Rooney up top on his own, supported by Nani primarily.

Spurs will come out and attack us, we should hit them on the counter. Rest Berbatov and play a side packed with plenty of pace and energy.

---------VDS--------
Raf - Rio - Vidic - Evra
------Scholes--------
--Anderson - Fletcher
Nani ----------- Giggs
-------Rooney-------

Something like that. The midfield is the real question. I think its the kind of game we need the likes of Anderson and Fletcher for though, lots of energy to close down and harass VdV and Modric, and Scholes behind them to play the quarterback and spray balls up to the front three.

Given their respective form as well as which of them usually partners Anderson better, what made you pick Fletcher over Carrick?

Eh? If anything Carrick is the midfielder we need most. Stop Spurs on the counter and slow things down if need be. He's also hitting his top form again too. Fletcher has been poor, Ando inconsistent and Scholes has been out of action for a while. Carrick will definitely play.

Late KO's are shit. So are away games
Fatty needs to perform

I agree, I think Carrick and Anderson will start, the question then becomes what formation we are playing, if it's 433 then I'd stick Fletcher in with them as that trio is very good. Only thing that would make me think twice is a fully fit Paul Scholes.

I thought Bale had a back injury Glaston? Fit in time for us?
The official Spurs site said a few days ago that Bale was being rested for the FA Cup match and that his back spasm in the midweek game Everton was not thought to be serious.

We always seem to start with 4-4-2 against Spurs. A couple of great individual battles there, Rafael vs Bale, Lennon vs Evra. Our wingers on the day will have to work doubly hard to protect our full-backs.
