Tottenham v Manchester United

Yeah Assou-Ekotto is overrated. He is dire at defending. He should be concentrating on the defensive side of his game rather than his attacking.

It would appear you are the polar opposite. You clearly under rate him. I'm not saying he's an ace defender because he isn't. He's far from "dire" though.

Evra was taken from the training pitch by golf buggy today. He injured his knee. Not thought to be serious. Could still be fit for tomorrow.

Feeling oddly confident about this, although everything suggests it should be a tough game for us. 3 points would be a fantastic result for us. I keep thinking we're going to really turn it on against someone soon, hopefully it'll be tomorrow.

Nani 3-1 @ 140/1. Fingers crossed.

I badly want us to win almost the whole world except United fans of course want us to lose.....

4-0 at HT.

Ends 4-6.

Just the usual, toying with Spurs making them look like they can hang with us.

Really looking forward to this one. Finish work at 4:30 so we are gonna make damn well sure we are out on time and at least catch the second half.

A lot is going to depend on whether us and/or Spurs field 4-4-2 or 4-5-1. I think a Spurs midfield of Modric and Van der Vaart, whilst creative and great going forward, lacks a defensive element and so if they play 4-4-2 they will be undone. Conversely however, playing with a lone strike I would fully expect Rio and Vidic to keep them under control and handle any crosses coming in.

As for ourselves, 4-5-1 (or 4-3-3, whatever) seems the obvious way to go. Pretty much any three of Carrick, Anderson, Fletcher and Scholes seems a strong lineup at the moment. I would drop Scholes though, and play a midfield and forward lineup with a shitload of energy and pace, and hit Spurs on the break.

The key battle of course, is going to be Sir Gareth of Bale vs Rafael. Lets face it, it could go either way, but with the form that young Rafael has been in for the last few games, and Fergies ability to stoke him up, I think Rafael will go out all guns blazing and be well up for it - as long as he doesnt try anything too stupid or risky he will be fine.

----VDS------
---Back Four--
-Fletch - Carrick -
----Anderson-----
Nani -------- Giggs
------Rooney-----

Thats what I would hope we lineup as, Rooney might be a questionable call but I think it is exactly the kind of surprise Fergie is known to spring. Anderson breaking from deep, he and Rooney can exploit the space left behind Modric and Van der Vaart, whilst Nani and Giggs will stretch the Spurs defence, and Carrick/Fletcher will keep our lines clear and defend against the threat of VdV/Modric (and vs Bale when necessary).

Based on the lineups and formations I am actually growing in confidence. I dont think Spurs can afford to play 4-4-2, it will leave them too vulnerable in midfield against our attack, too much space left in front of their back line which we have players more than capable of exploiting. The only scenario I can see working out badly for us would be us fielding a 4-4-2 against a spurs 4-5-1. If we play 4-5-1 I reckon we will nick it.

Apologies if this has been asked already (I can't be arsed going through the whole thread): is this on tv?

I don't think Sky are showing it. ESPN maybe?

I'm feeling strangely confident about this match. Even more so than some of our previous matches, against on the paper worse teams than Tottenham. I think they've got quite a good squad, but we usually perform quite well against them.

3-0 to Spurs

Bale hat-trick.

Well up for this game, come on lads, take three points and move on.

You just know every non-united fan in the world is praying for a Spurs win - which is good. That's how we like it. That's the way Sir Alex relishes the challenge - siege mentality.

0-2, we're gonna keep a clean sheet. ;)

Every single one of my friends seem to think Spurs will end our unbeaten run.

I just love the games against spurs. They always believe they will win, especially at home. Usually ends up us winning by a big margin, and could see it happen again. 1-4.

i'm so nervous about today I had nightmares that Spurs won :(

No offence, but man up a bit! If we lose today, it's annoying but by no means a crisis. This is what annoys me about the unbeaten run in a sense - it builds up every game as "the most massivest, biggest game ever ever!!" The fact of the matter is that we have experience of playing, and beating, far better teams than Spurs away from home.

We'll see a United master class today. Haven't you heard? We haven't played well all season. By the law of averages... it's about time we did

Amusing to see how many members of media have written us off before the match has started. Spurs are a decent side but we are better than them.

I'm going for a 0-2 win for us.

This could be a very open game if Redknapp is to be believed. 2-4 United

I think a very important point that many are missing is that Chelsea were the better side when they went to the Lane a month or so ago - and that was in the middle of their awful run. Methinks Spurs are being a tad overhyped - I full expect us to dominate ball possession.

With all the talk of how open this game will be what's the betting it will be either 0-0 or 1-0 either way.

Why is kick off at 16:10? Why the ten minutes?

Never ever been excited for Spurs game before.

I absolutely hate Redknapp now.He seems to be on a mission of downgrading United ever since this game has come close.

Hope we can fecking shut him up and show Spurs their place.

But sadly i think it will end up 2-1 to Spurs.

You hate their team, you hate their noisy fans and you hate the manager and you think that they will win. What's that talking... your head or your heart?
