Manchester United v Birmingham

Man Giggs starting again? :/

I mean, he's as likely to actually do something against Birmingham, but still. He's not a starter anymore, shouldn't be wasting his energy as one either, he's a damn good sub, and can offer solid composure in the right setup against the top teams, but eh. Stop starting him ><

Heh

Great half of football. When we play with that much speed and freedom we are some force. There's still more to come from us though. Nani could be sharper and Rooney hasn't shown much goal threat. Rectify those in the second half and this game will be over very quickly.

Keep it up!

The only down side to the first half is that they got awfully close to our goalkeeper. 3-4 times through their left wing.

I predicted a difficult game, how happy I am to be wrong this time. They also seem to play more open than at home. 4-4-1-1 or so

Brilliant half.

Wish this ref was in charge at St. Andrews for our game. No way would he have allowed Zigic's goal. He blows for a foul as soon as someone jumps near a keeper.

I don't think so. 'Mourinho' was almost dactylic in that the second two syllables were unstressed. 'Carlo' actually fits better I think.

 The second syllable was stressed, as it always is in Mourinho.

The original song has "When it snows"... etc., i.e. -^-

"Mourinho" works OK though because the initial syllable is unstressed and doesn't affect the metre, and English speakers give it a third syllable, "ee-oh", rather than "yo".

Oh feck this. I've jizzed all over the carpet.

See that nonchalent Berbatov tackle. Tevez does it with his head, Berbatov can't even be arsed to get up, just does it in the fetal position. Lazy bugger, no commitment.

Totally agree. Although, since his comeback, Alex has played Rooney a lot deeper so it's not totally his fault that he's not been such a goal threat. His play in general today has been brilliant.

Roll on 2nd half.

What did everyone think of the Hleb challenge on Carrick?

We have been fantastic this half. Just need Rooney to sharpen up infront of goal and hopefully he can grab one in the second half.

Yeah I typed out pretty much exactly that originally, that it was more Iambic and so if you stressed the two syllables in Carlo it would work fine. Then I chanted it out loud (like a tit) and realized I only stressed the first syllable and almost affixed the latter two. Must just be me though- can't sing in tune to save my life

So do Birmingham actually have a tactic other than all standing inside their own box and shuffling about?

It's like watching some kind of synchronized crab dance

Our front four have been phenomenal. The only thing you could criticise them for would be Nani's final ball. Other than that, more of the same please! :D

not happy with it studs up on Carrick ankle, that is going to be painful. hope its not serious.

Teams like Birmingham City deserve what they get, game raising bunch of bastards when at home not existant away from home..

Disgusting. Studs inside, right on the ankle of Carrick. I've seen reds given for those type of challenges.

I hope Carrick only came off as a precaution.

Good match so far.

Sometimes we have quite poor last pass, but thankfully that Berbatov's goal in second minute destroyed Birmingham somewhere and they are no concern today.

Giggsy's goal was something I see when I think about Manchester United offensive style.

Defence without any chances to show their qualities thanks Brummies. Gibson and Anderson are playing very well, shame Gibson didn't score. Giggsy, Berbatov and Rooney pure magic. I hope Nani will score something today, too.

Let's hope Carrick's injury is nothing serious, would be bad to lose him, because he probably found his form and we have a marathon of games in next weeks.

Berbatov & Rooney. Imagine our offensive when Rooney finally finds it.

MOTD should be great.

Yeah it should be a fantastic 4 minutes of replays and 16 minutes of Lawrenson and Hansen talking about United having a poor season and not hitting form apart from the odd games. Then Shearer will agree and repeat what the others have just said.

Lol sounds about right :)

Also, how come Smalling plays as if he's played since, well, forever?

Yeah "Carlo" is no worse than "Ancelotti", I don't think. "Carlo" involves stressing the 'o' which is odd, but you don't hear it so much as you have to lengthen the 'a' to make it sound like two syllables, so it sound quite stressed.

"Ancelotti" involves pretending the "i" doesn't exist, or stressing the "e" and the "i", which is just bizarre

Neither is great... needs a different chant really
