Blackpool vs. Manchester United

To play for United you need more than just commitment. I'm not asking them to be great defensively, the game bypasses Gibson and Fletcher isn't disciplined so we have no protection for the defence. We're just basically throwing 3 central midielders together, this will be a disaster if Scholes isn't on form.

Giggs is a winger, therefore if he played we'd have a different shape to the team. And I couldn't give a toss how wingers defend.

So you're basically saying you're worried about how well we'll defend with three CMs, so we should pair Scholes up with an injured Michael Carrick, or a defensively naive Brazilian in a 442, away from home. Oh and the wingers don't need to defend.

Are you posting utter nonsense on here to win a bet or something?

Rafael and Evra both get forward plenty so that neither wing will be without options. Think this ends up as a kind of 4-3-2-1 with Berba up top, Rooney dropping back like he does, and Nani roaming.

Please answer me this, if you're so upset with squad rotation ... What's the point in having a squad?

Should Fletcher be sold then?

What about Ferdinand now that Smalling's emerged?

Let's get rid of Park and Valencia while they are gone too.

Nothing wrong in squad rotation but Anderson has already been given a break of sorts over the past few weeks having only started what, 1 game? That's why I was disappointed to see him not start. However I din't know that he said his knee's not a 100% yet so I guess it makes sense to rest him.

Surprised we aren;t going 4-4-2, hope Anderson isn't injured.

I think that has to do with the fact that they always play 4-3-3. We need an extra man in midfield to match theirs, even though they are not as strong as us. An example would be the West Brom game. Their players are not as good as ours but we still needed an extra man in midfield to match up to them.

You're boring.

I'm saying we have 2CM's who will contribute nothing and stifle our play. And to top it all off, neither of them are defensively good either. We should play to our strengths, and that line up certainly isn't doing that.

Oh, care to point out where I said wingers don't need to defend? ...

If someone could please PM me a Sopcast or other working stream that will be great. Cheers

A football game is only 90 minutes and with 22 players, a single footballer doesn't really have a lot of time on the ball. I think you're exaggerating this bypassing thing a little too far. Of course Scholes will be perhaps as great as he usually is in the little time he does have the ball, but turning on Darron with an O and Darren with a E simply because they haven't been in the team lately is the type of fickle muppetry I've come to expect on this forum.

I don't see why Fletcher is going to suddenly lack discipline in a game like this when that's been one of the major strengths behind his emergence at United, as for Gibson letting games bypass him, personally I think Gibson has always played with a point to prove and this game won't be any different.

Mental.

Another dodgy formation away from home by the looks of things.

Normal formation hasn't worked away from home either.

The only constant I can see in United's two away wins in the League this season is that Neville started in both.

And Javier Chicharito Hernandez has scored the winners

Discipline isn't a strength of Fletchers and I don't know why you think that. Hes at his best in a 5 man midfield because he has 2 others behind him to cover him when he goes to try and 'influence' the play which would leave a whole in the midfield. He lacks the discipline and it's proven with him in a 2 man midfield, see the teams performacnes with him and scholes in the middle together...

Gibson will always have a point to prove...but lets hope im wrong and his long shots go in...

The only difference is that we are playing Gibson instead of Anderson. Be confident of your team.

Erm no, Giggs isn't playing, which leaves us with one winger, which means either Gibson or Rooney will be a winger tonight.

Big difference.

You what?

Always good to see Jimmy Armfield.

Yeah I've always liked him and he isn't a sexist.

Rooney has technically played on the left before this season. So no big difference there. Asking Giggs to play three games in a row is a little too much.

I really hope my spliffing stream changes from Dance music very soon.

Just put a fiver on for Rooney to score first.

Could happen!

That's a feck load of seats empty for segregation.
