Newcastle fleece Liverpool for Carroll

Why would Andy agree to join that shithole Pool? :confused:Surely a smart thing for him to wait a little, keep banging those goals and get an offer from Spurs or Chelsea.

I wish Sir Alex would call him. And tell him not join Liverpool. He should say "Andy, in 2 years Berba will be old, and i will bring you to take his place, stay patient kid".

Day's like today justify statements by SAF

"no value in the market"

Shame other managers cannot see this.

Hernandez £7m
Carroll £35m

You would think some clubs would put more time & money into having a decent scouting system like us.

Newcastle would be crazy to turn it down.

That being said, a strike partnership of Suarez and Carroll could be very good once they've played together for a while. Carroll seems to win pretty much everything in the air, only he doesn't have anyone to aim for most of the time at Newcastle. Now he'll have a very clever player who makes some great runs in Suarez.

He was at the right level at Newcastle. You don't pay £35 Million for potential.

I wholeheartedly agree that the fee is ridonkulous but if you look past that Carroll is a very decent option to have, and one that will only get better.

It's the media 35mil sounds far more dramatic

Same logic applies to Torres.

Chelsea are also not daft to pay £50 Million for a player who Liverpool have no choice but sell.

Peter Crouch or Heskey would have been better options if that's the game plan.

Many here has laughed whenever Fergie has talked about no value in the market, but this Carroll news has just proved him right.

That would involve Liverpool playing 442, without a single winger worthy of the description in their squad.

If there's method in Kenny's madness it's a very long term and very expensive plan.

dave from newcastle likes this.

I was thinking this earlier, they'd have a good front two in carrol & suarez then just pretty much the rest fo the team needs work, especially the wingers to supply both of these and also a very good central pairing to accommodate such setup.

It's totalling nearly £40 million :lol::lol:

Oh My Good God!

£35 million PLUS addons... Good lord. Liverpool going well beyond their usual alarming levels of desperation

Wow, Liverpool mean business. This will be interesting. They now have major players to change things around. Next year could be their year if we don't shape up with some magic in the middle.

They mean business by selling Torres and spend most of the money on Carroll?

I am scared...

CaulkinTheTimes BREAKING: #NUFC have received improved bid
from #lfc for Carroll which has been REJECTED.

Well thats not strictly true. There have been bargains around. Just because Carroll isnt one of them, doesnt make the entire transfer market mental.

In one sense, these clubs spunking crazy fees on players are going to be replacing their current players who often are undervalued and available on the cheap. See the "Great Madrid dutch clearout" for good examples. They wanted Galacticos in, and had to get rid of the rest.
