Sir Ryan Giggs

I started this thread before we won the game. :D

Blackpool just had no answer for Giggs, and with Hernadez' intelligent runs behind a tired defence it was just a matter of time.

Another Giggs performance from 18/19 years ago. Credit to the lad he has looked after himself year after year and deserves a new contract. I felt if we could get Giggs on 2nd half it would change the game and thankfully that was the case.

I've seen him since he was a young teen. The guy is a living legend and has given us so much joy and success. In years to come people will always be talking about him. He epitomises everything about a footballer than fans love. Dedication, talent and skill, loyalty and the amazing determination to win. Sure he has off games, but he would be the first to hold up his hand and say it. A true british pro and, I'm so sorry to say it, a dying breed in this modern game...

I love it when him and Nani are on our wings because they are both playmaker's and wingers, Giggs was superb tonight ass he has been the last 2 games.

I was thinking early into the second half that we're short on character in attack. Ryan Giggs was that character in every single sense.

Take a bow kid, you're the greatest I've ever seen.

Just watching the highlights I really didn't notice first time around just how good he was for our second goal, absolutely incredible touch, vision and execution.

I've lost count the amount of times he's bailed us out. Amazing footballer.

It was an incredible control and pass by Giggs. Chico was equally fantastic both with his first touch and finish.

Great moment today, at 2-0 down, when we were looking threatening and there was a hold up in play. Giggs ran over to grab the ball for a throw, and while waiting there for a while, in front of us, got saluted by 'Giggs will tear you apart' for a good few minutes. From that moment on, the support was brilliant and pretty soon we'd pulled one back and equalised.

Man of the match. There's nothing more to say about Giggs. No one in football today is fit to tie his laces.

"Giggs will tear you apart" is probably the best football song out there. Why the feck isn't it aired more often?

To turn around a game and perform like he did, especially at the age of 37, shows what an incredibly talented footballer he is. The guy is just amazing

Magnificent player.

BeardedGenius created this fantastic wallpaper. Has probably been posted before but I really don't care.

If he were English he'd probably already have been knighted, no?

Definitely deserves it before Beckham or Gerrard get a sniff. Granted I don't know how it works for the Welsh.

Highly doubt it the general feeling is that they are waiting for his retirement before he recieves any knighthood which will surely come at some point.

And it doesn't work any differently for the welsh.

Giggs is just timeless. Back then I was in Junior high when Giggs first broke into the scene. Now that I became an older fecker in my thirties, Giggs still playing like a 20 yrs old kid running down the wing. Its frightening.

What a player!

Turned today's game around...

Indeed, it was a captains performance by Giggs, he displayed great leadership qualities. He actually still gave the ball away a couple times, or lost it which was frustrating, but his determination to drag us back into the game was fantastic, an inspirational performance.

I cannot argue with his longevity, humility, skill, and contribution to MUFC.....but do not understand why this deserves a knighthood which many people are alluding to.

It seems these days that if you are good at something then you 'deserve a knighthood'......

I just don't get it!

The thing is, he can do it next season too. Maybe even the season after that. He looks in great shape.

Stumbled across this vid and found it to be the best Giggsy-viewing experience of my life on youtube... And no goal against the Arsenal, neither! The span of his career, weaving together his old and new runs and showing us that he's the same as ever, just more refined and needs a bit more time between games. Also loved the bits from the 06-07 season, when I imagine I wasn't the only one who thought "enjoy this indian summer, he might not be here in two-three years' time." More fool me, and I think I'll take this opportunity to state for the record that I think he might do a modern-day Stanley Matthews... or something like it... Twenty years was his limit, they said... he doubled that, and Giggsy might surprise us and give us another ten.

Here's to hoping Giggsy will tear them apart for another ten!

Not sure if anyone reads Republik of Mancunia (RoM) but, there is some interesting reading there today about his thoughts on Rooney transfer saga and SAF giving him the hairdryer after Nani took the peno against Fulham at the start of the season.

Attempt at sarcasm?

What he says goes to him as a person and player for United. Sorry to hurt your sensibilities.

Sorry mate, read that a bit quick. Missed that it was Giggs's thoughts on it :o

*lays flat*

I see your point Mr Moo but think how much our friends along the E Lancs would enjoy him being honoured. ;)

MP: Let's make United legend Sir Giggsy

Ryan Giggs could be in line for his biggest honour of all if a politician gets his way.

The Manchester United stalwart has won Premier League titles, Champions League finals, a host of other domestic medals and an OBE.

Now Manchester Central MP Tony Lloyd, a United fan, has tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament calling for the 37-year-old - who celebrated 20 years in the United first-team this week - to get a knighthood.

He said: "I think it would be a great way to recognise his achievements. He has been an amazing servant, not just for Manchester United but for this beautiful game of football and he has given great pleasure to people in this country.”

Other Manchester MPs have backed the knighthood call.

Would be better if it happened whilst he was still playing rather than when he is retired, but he has to be knighted in the near future.
