Wigan Athletic vs. Manchester United

I'd be surprised if Giggs was to be involved tomorrow. He'll play against Chelsea.

I suppose so, but at the same time, 4pm on the eve of a game is a bit late to be out shopping I'd have thought(especially as we always stay overnight at a hotel even for home games). I wouldn't be surprised if SAF has held him back for the Chelsea game, hence the spare time for a shopping spree. He certainly didn't look like a guy with a game on his mind with the amount of cash he was flashing

Its all relative, he earns best part of £100K a week, what is pocket money to him is a years wages to most of us...

I love the optimistic supporting spirit of the match forum.

'looks like another tepid disjointed performance'? Based on what, exactly?

Despite our other differences (;)), I sometimes think we are the only 2 supporters who have faith in our team...

We are playing Wigan, they haven't beaten us in like a million years they have an awful record this season, how come so many people think this will be such a difficult match?

If we can't beat these, we haven't much chance against Chavski or the Scouse.

Stop listening to the media, we're not top of the league for nothing you know...

Gibson has to start this one, as I don't want him starting any of the next three fixtures

I think that a little too much has been made of this fixture-f*** we have other the next few games. There's a decent gap between the Chelsea and Liverpool games of around five days plus then we have six days to recover for the FA Cup tie, where changes would be expected from both sides anyway and then the domestic fixtures begin to look less ferocious.

So I think there's a chance not much tinkering has to happen very much at all if the aim is to keep players fresh.

Good God No!

It's going to be interesting to see Fergie's team selection tomorrow. I think Fletcher and Scholes will be the midfield pairing and Nani is going to have to play all 3 games.

Defensively I wouldn't be surprised to see Fergie give Wes and Fabio a run out, the real questions marks are over the left wing and who the striker partnership will be.

I don't think Rooney would be rested either. Berba will not play in the 4-5-1 away, or only play in one of them, so no need to rest him at Wigan. The back four don't need a rest

Injured: Ferdinand, Evans; Anderson, Park, Valencia, Hargreaves
Doubtful: Giggs; Owen

We won't see anyone on the 'injured' list until the Liverpool game at the earliest. Giggs and Owen are probably more likely to be in the match day squad for Wigan than they are to not, but if they are it'd be on the bench IMO. The former more likely to be starting at Chelsea.

van der Sar
Rafael Smalling Vidic Evra
Nani Fletcher Scholes Obertan
Berbatov Rooney

Lindegaard; O'Shea, Fábio; Carrick, Gibson, Giggs; Hernández

Obertan's been poor, but I'd still give him a shot at starting this game. The quality of everyone else on that pitch should be enough to beat Wigan, but if it doesn't go our way soon enough, we can bring on any of those three midfield players for Obertan to change the system (if he has another stinker). We're kind of down to the bear minimum here, with only maybe Wes Brown as the other senior player who isn't injured.

My other useless comments are that Smalling has been more than good enough when called upon, so I don't see why he shouldn't be starting this game and the Chelsea game. I can see Sir Alex maybe opting for Brown at Chelsea for more experience, but I'd still go with Smalling. He's bound to make a mistake soon and a lot of people will get on his back, but I don't think anyone will have a right to when he does, as he's been solid every game so far.

I think we'll win, but we'll make hard work of it again.

I think a similar team will start against Chelsea as well. Carrick will join up with Fletcher and Scholes in a midfield three, while Giggs would start over Rooney or Berbatov. Probably the latter, unless he has a good game against Wigan. As I touched upon, possible tweaks to the back four, but I'd hope not.

Rooney will play tomorrow and will score the winner

We must play our strongest team TODAY.

What's the point in beating Chelsea if we lose today?

Whenever we've made 5-6 changes to the lineup we've looked disjointed and crap.

Yes one or two changes is fine, but I don't want wholesale changes. I won't be surprised if we see at least one of Rooney or Berbatov on the bench, and Chicharito starting. Get 3 points today and we can go into the Chelsea match in good spirits.

I could have sworn ESPN had been advertising this as being on T.V. in the U.K. But obviously I'm just going insane because no 3pm K.O's are televised in this country.

Not impressed.

Spot on.

This isn't on TV in England and you all know what that means, a lovely stream and a brilliant performance from us.

We cannot afford to drop points against teams like this, at this stage of the season. City and Chelsea are out of it but the Arse are creeping up on us. I don't want to see Carrick or Gibson or Obertan in this one. Not a game to experiment with.
