Manchester United vs. Marseille

And how do the O'Shea defence brigade explain this selection?

Eh... you only need to look at the back 4 that started at Anfield ad the result to understand why O'Shea gets the nod tonight.

Nani will be hoping Fanni doesn't open up his gash again.

Would've liked Antonio ahead of Giggs. But no point risking him so early.

Feel bad for Berba but I think Rooney-Hernandez is a more dynamic partnership.

No Vidic is a big worry.

Never seen so many people on here so pessimistic before a home game in the CL?
We will stuff them 3-0. Giggs, Rooney x 2.

I agree, thats a strong team we should be more then strong enough to over come them at home.

The back line is my only worry, but whats the point in having a deep squad if you never use it eh?

And how do the O'Shea defence brigade explain this selection?

What do you think it suggests?

That Sir Alex is a cautious, defensive manager? That Sir Alex thinks O'Shea is a better right back than Rafael and is thus an idiot?

I don't think Marseille are gonna see that much of the ball. I think this defense plus Carrick right in front of them should be able to keep them quiet.

Interesting that Heinze's playing centre back, maybe we can take advantage of his lack of height with Rooney and his lack of pace with Hernandez.

Rafael has to play, everytime, he is a superb player. Barcelona wouldn't drop Alves if they had O'Shea and I want us to be like Barcelona.

Anyway, I am very happy with the line up overall.

Nani's gash closes in time to take apart fanni

Last time Chicharito played against a defence with Heinze playing at centre back.

They've moved Mbia back into midfield, haven't they? He's a big, strong unit. Think I'd rather Heinze at full-back and him pulled back into defence tbh.

Scholesy we don't have the midfield strength to compensate for the absence of Vidic, Rio and to still gamble on playing such an attack-minded inconsistent full-back like Rafael especially in such an foward thinking lineup in other areas of the pitch. O'Shea is a sensible choice and if we need to go turbo mode, I'm sure Fergie won't hesitate to bring the brazillian on. Chilax.

But what do you think it says about Sir Alex that he's dropped him?

I think he picks O'Shea because at this time in career, it seems right that O'Shea should be starting matches. Rafael should be a young player, maybe on the bench. But Rafael is not ordinary, he is a super player already.

I am not sure we can get away with playing both scholes and giggs in the same starting 11. Also very disappointed that rafael and vidic have missed out. I never like a 0-0 score line.

Come on you reds....

Do not like the team selection at all.

Giggs/ Scholes/ Carrick will be over powered by Marseille.

Looks like we will be going out.

No Berba means less cover in defence at corners - something he is very good at - covering the near post.

Berbatov was fecking shit in the last leg.
