Chelsea vs. Manchester United

Suprised to see Giggs playing, would've thought Scholes would get in ahead of him. Happy to see SAF continue with Rooney-Hernandez, that partnership is looking very good.

Strong bench.

No Nani?

Valencia has played well but no way does he deserve the right wing ahead of Nani...

Worrying line up, but I'm optimistic.

Reckon Nani is still a bit unfit and Fergie probably wanted more defensive work from his wingers.

I think SAF is playing the same trick he did a few years ago by deploying Giggsy's speed and trickery to just cut through their midfield. Park will definitely float into the middle and help out though, hopefully he's back in form and will be all over the pitch. Rooney is going to drop back deeper as well I think and spread the play, like he did against Marseille at OT.

Yeah, and i think SAF is probably worried about Scholes being overrun by Essien or perhaps mistiming a couple of tackles and seeing red. Giggs should have a bit more in the legs and has been playing more regularly recently.

He's more suited for an away lineup against Chelsea IMO. Better at tracking back than Nani too.

Am I the only one not too nervous about this match? I was far more nervy for the West Ham and loads of other PL games recently.

I will be more nervous next week. This game will stil be wide open for the 2nd leg

Reckon Nani is still a bit unfit and Fergie probably wanted more defensive responsibilities from his wingers.

Nani's work rate and tracking back has been great this year, but maybe he's a little unfit, still, he got a rest at the weekend.

I'm a bit baffled by it, hopefully it'll be cleared up.

Well, theres a second leg. As long as we dont do a Spurs we'll still be alive next week. Takes some pressure off.

I am scared by the midfield. Carrick will be on his own.

What is wrong with Anderson? And why is Scholes not starting?

I feel Hernandez starting is absolute key to an away goal here

He and Rooney were sensational in the league game

Because Fergie hates you and wants to make you suffer.

You better fecking get nervous then. We win usually when you're negative and nervous.

Now I'm nervous just because you're not. Way to go wr8. cnut.

Tbf though I've not been nervous for any CL match since the Benfica group stage tie at OT on Matchday 6 and that too because it brought back bad memories

Seems to me Giggs and Scholes are sharing this game.

Giggs played tough 90 on Saturday and will likely give way to Scholes on the hour if not before. Scholes ran the show at the Bridge till he tired and we were overpowered.

Strategy could well be to stay really solid first half then start pushing on from the hour mark with late substitutions - Berbs/Scholes and Nani - swinging it our way.

Hope so anyway!

Great team, I expect Rooney to support the mid and Hernandez up on his own

Reckon we will get knocked of Europe tonight for all intents and purposes

Park and giggs start and nani or berba dont. FFS. I just can't imagine what it must be like to be berba or nani watching park get into the first 11. Well we all know what tevez thought about it.

2-1 defeat. Torres by 2 for them, Valencia for us. We'll beat them to go through in the second leg.

Chelsea:

Cech
Bosingwa
Ivanovic
Terry
Cole
Ramires
Essien
Lampard
Zhirkov
Drogba
Torres

Turnbull
Ferreira
Mikel
Benayoun
Malouda
Kalou
Anelka

Here's what I reckon this lineup is:

Depends completely on the supply line. If we arent able to create chances then Hernandez could be fairly quiet. For me Nani is key to away day goals, more-so when we have 1 up front. But hopefully Giggs, Valencia or Rooney will step up and create multiple chances

Park is deceptively strong and good in the tackle. There's a reason he usually outworks and outmuscles strong midfields on a regular basis.

lots of movement going forward with Park Rooney and Giggs swapping positions regularly. That will give John Terry plenty to think about. Not the big man's strong point that....thinking.

Reckon we'll introduce Nani and Scholes for the last half-hour to either get or add to, the away goal...
