So happy that he's come back from his injury and managed to keep his form from last year. There was a big concern whether or not he'd be the 'same' player. So happy he's squashed those fears. Great to have him back.

Right. I still don't remember Tim Allen playing right back in that movie. He did grow a beard though.

Well, he is Tim Allen. He does what he wants. Including making terrible kiddie movies and getting away with it with a 6.1 on imdb.

Now Valencia in a beard. Denzel Washington stuff. Half the left backs would jump out of the way just seeing him running towards them

Another positive for us is that he's arrived late into this season. When other players are tiring he looks fresh and very hungry to make up for lost time. Not only is he physically strong and fast, he's mentally solid as well. You just know he's gonna trouble the opposition's left flank all game with his power.

Nice to see he's regained his goalscoring instincts from last season as well.

What a fantastic recovery the lad has made. Comes back after a horrendous injury and gets right back into form. fecking LOVE IT! What a super pair of wingers we have in him and Nani.

He's been far better on his return then we had any right to expect (especially given how others with similar injuries have struggled to regain form and confidence). It goes to show what a great character and professional he is. As SAF has said in the past, he brings a patience on the ball that few have, he rarely makes a poor choice or is rushed in his decision making even under pressure.

But I thought the general consensus here was that we drop Valencia so that we can keep Nani on the right and pay £40m for the lead singer of the Gorillaz to play on the left?

It was only logical that once he'd settle down after his first season that he'd be more relaxed and willing to try new things in his game. Like Berbatov, he's opening up a little and we're seeing a little more flair and panache from him, which alongside his very precise game in general is a scary prospect for opposition defenders.

So too those who've seen Tonio play often for Wigan...how had his game changed and improved with his time with us?

On topic, brilliant having him back. It also eases the pressure on Nani immensely & we might benefit from that aswell. Having 2 demonic wingers certainly opens up more space for others as opponents cannot double up on both!

How he's managed to hit top form almost immediately upon his comeback is unreal.

Antoniooooo..... are you listenin?

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has lauded the return to form and fitness of Antonio Valencia, suggesting the Ecuadorian’s return to the side has been instrumental in their recent quest to win a second Treble.

Valencia broke his ankle during a Champions League encounter with Rangers in September, but his return to the Premier League leaders’ starting line-up has coincided with an upturn in their performances and Ferguson suggests Valencia has been the catalyst behind this.

Ferguson is quoted by the Independent: “We expected Antonio to come back like this," said Ferguson.

"He is an outstanding footballer, who is very capable of being a threat.

"His understanding of the game is terrific. He has a great tactical brain. The boy has everything, balance, power and speed.

"When we got nearer the time, we couldn't get him back quickly enough.

"We arranged closed-doors games to get his tempo and rhythm back.

"Nani has had a fantastic season. To have the two of them available is a tremendous boost at this time of year."

Manchester United started Valencia and Nani against Fulham on Saturday and could do so against Chelsea in this evening’s Champions League match at Old Trafford.

My favourite United player at the minute. May not have the aura about him that other attacking talent have had down the years but my word is he effective. I think you just know what you're gonna get from him every game and it's consistently a quality performance. One of the best traditional wingers left in the game.

His game is reminiscent of Kanchelskis, I'm a big fan of proper wingers and I'm chuffed we have one again.

I hope the both of them start, they'd cause Chelsea massive problems.

His work rate is much better than Kanchelskis' though. His defensive work is immense for a winger. Like two centre backs having a commanding keeper behind them, it must be a joy for the full back to have a winger in front of you who is consistently getting back and putting a shift in off the ball helping you close down the opposition's wide men.

If he could get near to the goal return Kanchelskis got, his game really would be complete. That and working out how to use his left foot to give himself a bit more unpredictability when taking on his man.

Not his best game today, Baines did very well with him, but the pressure he put on in the build up to the goal was typical of him, he never stops working.
