Manchester United vs. Chelsea

I'm not thinking about this game yet. Don't want to be nervous for the next 10 hours.

Five hours are enough. For me, the game starts about 3pm.

we will play like we are playing Milan years ago and give them to much respect. We are cleary the better team and should end this tie in the first half.

We will see.

If we score first, then it's game over IMO, as we will end up scoring more than 1. If they score first it's going to become a bit dodgy.

I agree. We have to score first and put the tie to rest.

Though Im also not worried if the Chavs score. We are the only team in the world who really know how to keep playing til the final whistle.

SAF has a full compliment of players, all suitable rested, in form and on the way to footballing legend (a possible treble). And so many of players have so much experience at this kind of thing (JOS for example has played 70+ CL games!!!). And we have the added bonus of 'the world is all against us' siege mentality which should eradicate any complacency should that exist. Last, the Old Trafford faithful will be as fearsome as they can be tonight.

Of course one cant guarantee victory and the Chavs can be a quality outfit when everything clicks for them, but we cant go into a game under better circumstances. Im certainly not bricking it, I feel confident that we will put in a thoroughly professional shift and that that will be more than enough.

This is what you call experience: Tonight will be SAFs 100th European tie for the Scot at Old Trafford. Just astonishing.

He has seen this all 99 times before. He knows what is required. Have faith in our legend. Never ever doubt SAF.

I think some of the nervousness is due to the fact that we've been in the position of being 1-0 up at half time against these feckers and they've come out 2-1 at the end.

That, and the fact that they seem to be the one team that get results at OT consistently.

Any other team in the world and Id be 100% confident, but it's fecking Chelsea.

I honestly think that Chelsea will be moaning at Ramires penalty from the first game if we make semi-final.

That was the best that could happen to them. I see "we were robbed" again.

Its not like they never get any decisions against us though, is it?

Oh, wait...who's the linesman tonight and can he see straight? :nervous:

either way it will be a difficult match. They need two goals anyways. we score once and they score two, they are through.

Think we will play a very contained slowed down match...make them come at us and look for breaks.

I am very confident and composed, verging on cocky. Good thing I'm not playing, I would've been complacent. However, my mood will probably change in 30 hours.
Quicker than I though. I had a bout of the butterflies as I saw this thread on the front page. But I still think we'll go through.

I think the most important thing about the game tonight is that we MUST keep possession better than we have in a lot of away games this season.

I know this is not an away game but all the same, if we keep the ball for long periods, they'll be forced to chase us down and from there will, hopefully, lead to players being pulled out of position thus giving us more room to attack in to.

Possession is the key

Not long now

2 - 0 Will do nicely thank you.

Rooney double - with some cocky celebrations into the cameras ( no swearing )

thought we kept possession very well in the last match. I think very similar tactics.

I think we kept possession well, not very well.

There was too many long balls, especially as the game wore on that I thought played in to Chelsea's hands and just allowed them to come at us.

I'd like us to just to keep the ball as much and as often as possible, especially if it is tight in the last 15-20 minutes

Stopping them scoring an early goal will be SAF's plan A. We'll be very cagey for the first 20 minutes or so. Only if they score first will we move to plan B. Expect Berb, Rooney and Chico on if it is still in the balance towards the end.
2-1 for me with nailbiting right through.

Pumped for this - I really hope we can take the sting out of Chelsea in the first half with at least one goal.

C'mon!

Not nervous in the least about this. Infact CL games just never worry me now. Maybe it's because I'm so desperate for us to win #19

sounds about right, we never do anything the easy way. Nightmare scenario is 1-1 and having to "park the bus" for last 10 :nervous:

What I wouldnt give for a blistering start and 2 up in first 20

Son of a bitch! I was all set to watch this but just got a call from my biggest client. She's freaking out, so I have to go handle that situation which will take up from 1PM-4PM. Right during the fecking match. God damnit.
