Manchester United vs. Chelsea

Although I don't know why they would toss Torres on to start when he's been crap, I figure him playing as "the man" with proper flanking forwards might actually work. Anelka and Moulada work well as wide players in this setup.

But you'd think Drogba would be a shoe-in to start. Perhaps this is Ancelloti's view that Torres "owns" Vidic, much like the press claim.

Are we seeing Roman micro-managing ala 2007?

Our lineup according to one unreliable source

VDS, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Park, Carrick, Giggs, Valencia, Rooney (4-5-1)
90% of Caftards are more reliable than other sources' line-ups. I always smile when I see someone posting other website line-up, they don't know more than Caftards do! ;)

From DiscoMirror's twitter

Man Utd two changes from first leg at Chelsea. O'Shea in for Rafael & Nani for Hernandez

Why? Sods law says Torres breaks his duck at OT tonight :(
It was unfair when he replaced Drogba with Anelka and it will be even more unfair if Torres starts instead of Drogba tonight.

Drogba was very dangerous in second half at Stamford Bridge, Torres just doesn't deserve to start this game.

Doubt it, he only scores against us when we open up and go looking for goals. We wont be opening up tonight.

Drogba would be much more dangerous against a tight, deep, numerous defence.

Wells that's cleared up then with O'Shea and Nani in for Rafael and Hernandez.

Valencia-------Giggs--------Nani

No Drogba for Chelsea. Benched apparently.

I agree, on form and logic, Drogba is the man to pick but football is a funny game which often goes against logic, Torres is due a goal and it would not surprise me in the slightest if he comes good and bags at least one tonight. I know it's negative thinking but being realistic, this goalless streak cannot go on forever, he's too good for that, and a goal tonight would pretty much make the last 10 games irrelavent from a Chelsea POV.

Ancelotti is probably banking on the law of averages...

Could we make fun of Torres after this game all we want? Don't jinx him.
Sorry, I forgot Torres log in here with 90 minutes to the game and thinks "Oh, those bastards on RedCafe are laughing. It's time to score a goal. Finally".

Do you really believe that my posts mean he's gonna score?

Torres might play like a player possessed because everyone is against him, even the Chelsea fans and so he definitely has a point to prove.

:lol:I like the space between the forwards and the rest, but I'd put Rooney behind there too

Only fecking football fans could see a situation where the opposing side has a choice between a striker who looked a real danger to create or score a goal a week ago and one that was utterly useless and did nothing of note other than get booked for diving and when that side chooses the useless diving ladyboy, get themselves in a tizzy with "law of averages" and thinking the off-form git is bound to come well this very night.

feck's sake...

That's football though...

According to Daniel Taylor, we go with 10 of the 11 started last week, Nani in for Antonio. If that's the case, I see Park right to track Cole and Nani left to get at Bosingwa.

4-4-2

Confirmed Teams:

Utd: Vds, O'Shea, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Giggs, Park, Rooney, Hernandez.

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Alex, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Essien, Lampard, Anelka, Torres, Malouda

No Valencia. :(

Chelsea have won more points in the premier league at Old Trafford than any other visiting team, in our last 40 visits we've won more times than Man United have.

We'll be missing Valencia, but we need Park and Nani didn't start at Stamford Bridge.

We knew that we won't play with all three of Nani, Valencia and Hernandez, as we could be 100% sure of Park, Giggs, Carrick and Rooney.

Damn it! They have Alex back and have a much better right back playing in that position.

Hard call leaving Valencia on the bench but Nani's form has been excellent, once again glad SAF has kept the Hernandez-Rooney partnership. Good team.

Suprised Drogba is on the bench but we should not under estimate Torres.

Hopefully we can get off to a fast start & score early to settle the nerves.

Shocked that Drogba doesn't start. I'd be very pissed off if I was him.

Giggs off for Valencia after 50-60 minutes then? Quite possibly.
