Stop complaining, or maybe we should have a tired team on sunday just like last year vs Chelsea?

Not saying it's disastrous, but we should have stuck one of Rio or Vida alongside Smalling/Evans.
 
Piecing together various info from various places, here's the (unconfirmed) bench:

SUBS: Kuszczak, Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, Giggs, Rooney, Hernandez.
 
There's plenty to get excited about going forward but I'm unsure about that central defensive partnership. It's their first game together...in a european cup semi fecking final!
 
Ffs...Evans, Smalling, and Rafael? Add in PIG and our defense is going to be amazingly shaky. Even if we are at home.
 
If that's indeed the team, Fergie must have really thought how shite Schalke was last week and felt confident enough to put out this team. It's great that Nani and Valencia are playing together as well
 
We won't even have to worry about the defense, the front 3 are so strong and the midfield will retain the ball so well.

UEFA has the same starting 11 but the bench is:

PIG, Evra, Hernandez, Giggs, Owen, Vidic, Fletcher.
 
All the players in the United squad need to be ready to play on any occasion. Clearly we need to be sharp for Sunday's game.

This is an attacking side, capable of scoring goals against a pretty hopeless Schalke side.

Carrick, Evra, Vidic, Rio, Rooney and Hernandez rested...brilliant for the Chelsea game!

I just hope the lads can see it out tonight...I;d have liked Owen to play though. Berba is crap as a lone striker

Personally, I thought the centrebacks should have been Smalling & Vidic.

I have no problem with the fullbacks, but I think Vidic definitely should be there.

Oh well, we shall just wait and see.

Obviously Raul starts for them.

Could be a great move by SAF, win today & bring back the starters fresh for the title-decider on sunday, however, I don't like that defense - Vidic should be starting imo.
 
I'm not at all worried about the defense,its the midfield of Scholes Gibbo and Anderson which is strange.

Our attack is decent but Berba up top rarely works for us. Slightly worried about that defense though. Smalling and O'Shea will be fine. If Evans can play like he did last time out we'll be fine but if he has one of his poor games this season then :nervous:

Think Fergie's thinking was he needed to rest both Rio and Vida for Chelsea, and if he starts with Evans and Smalling, which is a tad dodgy, play 5 in the midfield and only Berba up front so that we keep the ball, and if we keep the ball then it doesnt matter who we've got in defense.
 
With Papadopoulos in the midfield and Howedes at CB, Schalke shouldn't be as shambolic as they were in Germany. Between that and our team, is my bum the only one squeaking?
 
No Owen is surprising considering SAF said he would play.
