RAWK goes into Meltdown 2010/2011

Right, lets get back to laughing at the Scousers please.
I agree, but at the same time I've had a few laughs at how this thread has turned into some kind of meta-RAWK; 'RAWK -The Caf Version 1.0'. To me it's absolutely ridiculous claiming the Scousers' 2005 European Cup was anything but a great comeback and a great achievement. Fluke? I honestly don't know where to begin. They were 3-0 down to Milan -- and a very decent Milan team at that.

To me it's 100% unadulterated bollocks not just acknowledging that game as a fantastic game by the Scousers and leaving it at that. Yes, it hurt me to the bone and still does. No, I'm not going to retreat to my fairy grotto and pretend it was anything but a magnificent game by them. Why are we laughing at RAWK again?

Back on topic -- Ye Olde 'We've really got 20 league titles' Theory is doing the rounds again --
Have we won the league 20 times?

"It's generally accepted that you are not really supposed to count those, but I know there are some clubs that are starting to include them in their honours list.

Whether you add them to the other 18 or not - the fact is that Liverpool have won two other championships."

We've still got 18 & 5 compared to 19 & 3 (fecking hope it stays 3)

18 & 5 > 19 & 3

Theyve already moved onto the champions league

The CL, despite your claims to the contrary is a fair yardstick for deciding the champions of Europe. You play the best teams over two games up unti the final, if you are good enough to come through that and then win such a high-pressure game on neutral ground, you are worthy of the title "champions of Europe". OK, Liverpool enjoyed a lot of luck, but so have we in our CL winning campaigns. And the road to glory for them was as tough as it gets, Leverkusen(decent German team), Juventus(the best in Italy at the time and considered legitimate contenders to win it), Chelsea(the best in England at the time), and then a final against a class Milan side. Their performances and scalps in that competition merited the title that came with it, and sadly for anyone who has had to put up with their crowing ever since, that was "champions of Europe".

OK, I've explained myself again and again but people just aren't getting me. One more time, and then I'm out.

I know it was a great achievement for them to win in 2005, to beat the teams they did along the way. BUT I stand by that they were not the best team in Europe, not even close, and playing and doing really well in 7 games doesn't suddenly make them the best team in Europe, because it doesn't change the fact they were poor for 9 months and only finished 5th in their league.

The CL is usually a fair yardstick to decide who is the best team because you do have to beat the best teams along the way, but it isn't always, simply because it is a cup competition and not a league. Leagues always find the best team, cup competitions not always because anything can happen in them. Stoke could win the FA Cup, Schalke got further than Chelsea in the CL. A certain side just has to play well in a few games to get far in it, not over 9 months like the league. Because the league is a far better indicator of who the best team is, if you don't win the league in your own country, or even come close, it's obvious you're not the best side in Europe even if you win the CL because someone has clearly been better than you in your own country.

Jeez. I don't get why people just can't get that. I know it was a great achievement for Liverpool to win in 2005 because they beat some great teams to get there but they were nowhere near the best side in Europe and doing really well in 7 games doesn't even come close to erasing 9 months of being average-to-poor.

Now I'm out.

Too many people in his thread seem to have just finished reading Brian Reade's book and are now posting abuse to David Moores probably because they've just read about how we were run under him.

Find it hilarious that people are directing anger at HIM in this thread, and saying it's HIS fault Utd have won the league, despite their being 18 other fecking teams in the premier league. Says it all for me just how much entitlement some fans of our club think we have to the title.

Get a fecking grip. The sooner we stop dwelling on the 18 titles (as of now) maybe it's a fecking gigantic monkey off our back and we can stop the Man Utd obsession. They are going to have won it more times than us, accept it, stop hiding behind the unreal 'have we won it 20 times?!' shite that popped up this week, and just get back to supporting OUR club.

So many times over the last 20 years I've thought that we were clinging on to the past. Year after year at the end of a season wanting other teams to beat Utd in desperation they wouldn't overtake us. Well they will now. What next? If they win the Champions League, we're only one ahead of them there too.

It's about time we started winning things again so we can stop clinging onto a number. Which has sadly now gone.

fortunately for us, most LFC supporters will always live in the past.

We are looking ahead in a big way. With the great quality of young players coming through and the purchases we will make this summer, things look secure for some time.

But the main reason we will still dominate is Fergie looks as hungry as ever.

He wants to build that Final great team before he calls it a day.

He will be around for another 5 years I feel.

some great football to look forward to.

Think he wants that second Treble tbh. ;)

some nasty comment there including death wishes, very classy.....

Some of them were going on about Al Qaeda in relation to our ever present Sikh friends.

wtf!

They are Sikh ffs...

I was thinking though, when they got those seats as season tickets they must have thought it was Xmas...well not Xmas...but...you know what mean...

I love seeing them behind the bench...are they on here btw?

Wathcing Michael Owen in Manchester United colours picking up a league title winners medal and it just so happens to be number 19 and the one that knocks them off their perch has to be the final nail in their coffin, can you imagine how much thats going to hurt them? :D

You may get 19 but you wont get 20 or number 6, you have just awakened a sleeping beast with a king for its master, mark these words u fickle red devil fans, ** success will be very very short lived and that is a fact!

Remeber boys, we still sit on 5 big eared trophies, Kenny is here now and il tell you 1 thing our owners took on the yankees when they were number one, Untd are number 1 now, John Henry and co wont eat or sleep till we get 19.

Trust me lads 19 is not that far away!

Will he get a medal btw? do we have a few spare for us to give to whoever we deem worthy?

I love the thread about" Whos the only Brit Manager to beat Fergie to a title?"

Kenny is going to win it for them next season.

I saw this on the BBC text commentary - this absolutely has to be a RAWK contributor:

Alfonso from Leyland, on text: "Now's the time for Torres to throw of the 'muleta', (that's cape to you and me!) and gore the bulls at the back! His quick darting runs can either get behind the centre-backs or produce a penalty. Somebody needs to produce that killer reverse pass, instead of blasting the ball all the time."

No other group adds such pointless and cringeworthy attempts at poetry to football analysis. Oh... except Stuart Hall.

For real? I hope they were just joking

Sickening but not surprising given the ignorant bunch that they are.

I love them though. Always there. Dont miss a moment. The red sikhs that is. Not rawkites.

Yes, I can't be arsed to find the exact post, but it was something along the lines of "Hey, look at Al Qaeda behind Ancelotti".

I wonder when someone will post a fantasy about them winning number 19 to make themselves feel better like they did when we won the Champion's League.
