I'm not calling you wrong - but are you sure that constitutes proof?

Spurs have won the FA cup 8 times, the league only twice.
Newcastle and Chelsea both 6-4.
Blackburn Rovers 6-3.
WBA 5-1.

Seems like you could pick which teams you want to prove the point you desire.

I'm not arguing, I'm talking to a brick wall. Sorry to have upset you, but you're ignoring all the facts placed under your nose. SAF has won 12 league titles, 5 FA Cups, and 2 Champions Leagues. It should be as clear as the light on a bright summer's day as to what that says. Bob Paisley won 6 league titles, 1 FA Cup, and 3 European Cups. It's not debatable, there is no argument! The FA Cup is harder to win due to its 1 leg structure throughout. You feck up one match, and you're out, no chance of recovery!

The reason why you've won fewer FA Cups is because you've regarded it as small fry, and have focused on the league instead.

It's harder to win the PL than to win the FA Cup, but it doesn't necessarily mean you'll win fewer PLs than FA Cups. It just means you've prioritised differently.

If you're one of the best teams in the League then the FA Cup is harder to win, if you're not then the League is harder to win. Look at Stoke, they nearly won the FA Cup this season, if they had come that close to winning the League title it would be a miracle, on the other hand, the one legged nature of it disfavours the stronger teams, because they have less of a chance to assert their superiority, and luck plays more of a role. You can't say one way or the other, it's easier or it's harder.

There's also a massive element of luck of the draw attached to it. Look at Stoke's run to the final this year - just home ties against dross.

Last season, if I recall correctly, Arsenal would have needed to beat West Ham, Stoke, Manchester City and Chelsea all away from home just to reach the semi-final. Some years it's just not possible.

No dickhead, it's harder because the base statistics show that it's harder! Your trouble is that you can't accept the number stuck under you nose, and you're a dickhead!
Jesus weaste you're smarter than this.

I've been watching this discussion, and I've been itching to post my interpretation of it, but I'd promised myself I'll never post a 'poster X means y' post -- never ever -- because they're incredibly obnoxious. I can't contain myself, though. Shoot me! :wenger:

So, I'm interpreting Weaste as saying that winning the FA Cup is 'harder' as in 'less probable'. Nothing else. He's not saying it's a better instrument to measure the footballing prowess of a team -- that's still the league -- he's just saying that it's less likely. And he's right -- it's a one-legged cup.

Maybe I'm way off though -- and then you can shoot me again! :p

Have largely ignored the discussion, so if I'm misinterpreting him, (or, well, you are :P,) while he can say that, the context of "harder to win" implies not a purely mathematical assessment of the probability of winning, but an assertion that a team has to be better to win it, which I don't think is the case.

And that's where I think you're misinterpreting him, because that's what he's saying as far as I'm concerned. But that's the last time I'm speaking for somone else -- I feel dirty! Sorry Weaste! :angel:

Let's instead focus on the not-at-all-bitter Scousers [disgusting Nazi bollocks under cut] --

harder to win = more difficult = less probable

That's why we're 7/4 to win the league and 7/1 to win the cup.

For teams outside the top 4, it becomes far more difficult to win the league than the fa cup since quality comes through over 38 games.

The one club still wrapped in the cloak of high emotion that has underpinned it since Shankly and has served it and its supporters through the turmoils inflicted upon it and now glimpses a brand new dawn with a man who carries the mantle possibly to become an equal of the great man. The other club now a million miles removed from the corresponding emotional base laid down by Busby in the aftermath of their own grievous tragedy
Whatever the world may throw at me, laughing at people who claim their emotions are more worthy and more important than mine -- just because they say so -- will never get old. "A million miles removed from the corresponding emotional base..." A million miles removed, just imagine.

Walt - you really embrace the mantle of the post-war turmoil of this great club.... you are the embodiment of the dreams of Busby as he re-built from the rubble... rising from the ashes... bombed but never bowed... as it became the vehicle for the hopes & dreams of every Mancunian.... playing in rags on a borrowed ground... we never wavered in our struggle to become the greatest....

And you bought that United toaster in the mega-store.

They are doing their Internet Terrorist thing to FIFA now.

Internet terrorists. Target FIFA Updated with contact details.

Dear Sir

As you are no doubt aware, a press conference was held on 30 May 2011 by Sepp Blatter, President of FIFA. In this press conference Mr Blatter:

Refused to acknowledge that football is in crisis;
Had no concrete plans on how to reform FIFA;
Displayed no understanding that the football world, from fans and press to football associations, holds him in contempt;
Refused to accept the interference of foreign governments in the reform process;
Showed no willingness to make FIFA properly democratic, transparent and accountable;
Showed no respect to a free and independent press;

It is evident that Mr. Blatter is out of touch with football fans, the press, football associations, and his continued presence as Head of FIFA is calling the game of football into disrepute. He is, moreover, a liability.

I urge you in your capacity at your company, and with the strength of your commercial relationship, to press Mr Blatter to resign as President of FIFA, and to call for reform of FIFA at the highest levels in making the world governing body open, democratic, transparent and accountable. Should Mr Blatter fail to resign his position, I urge you to terminate your commercial relationship with FIFA as soon as possible. I ask this for the good of the game, in the spirit of fair play, and as a passionate supporter of the beautiful game.

Yours respectfully

Etc

They're sending this to Coca Cola, Adidas, etc.

So the beautiful game comes crawling back to us old warhorses for one last rally against the corrupt and downright wrong direction the game is taking. We've succeeded before and I really hope we succeed again.

Emails have been sent, facebook groups have been joined. One cannot simply give up being an internet terrorist, it is part of our being.

Damn, this terrorism is serious business!

Anyone got any mates on other forums - how wide spread is the email list? (Apologies if I'm out of sync with what's going on - dipping on and out of site in between meetings)...

How many of our titles were won during Blatter's period of corruption...?

Done...........Gets the memories flooding back this. (Nostalgic tears in eyes).

Looks like Liverpool Fans showed the worldwide fans how to do protest against corruption, injustice and greed in the modern world of football.

This is the reason why Murdoch's empire didn't want to report on our efforts initially and tried to down play what happened as it shows how big business and its corrupt machinations can be brought to account by the ordinary masses in this world.

Fight the good fight!

As they say, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette. Some people will get pissed off but that's the whole point - the sponsors are suffering collateral pain and inconvenience because of their association and support of Blatter/FIFA. The sooner they realise that the better....

This is fan power in the truest sense of the word. If we can forget our club afflitations just for a few days and join together to bombard these corporate HQ's, the impact will be devastating.

Be proud people because, if it gathers pace, you can claim some of the creditted for initiating a strategy that removes one of the most corrupt regimes ever seen in the world of business.

And that would be a good thing...

Blatter won't know what's hit him. I hope it works. :lol:

Funny that they bent over for Hicks and Gillette originally, now they're the inspiration for fans worldwide because they sent a few e-mails.

Glazer debt drains Manchester United

:lol: They're busy predicting our financial doom again over there, always find it quite amazing how so many scouse financial experts find themselves privy to Manchester United football clubs funds, of course little of it goes past reading big bold numbers from back pages of red tops and praying for the worst case scenario but still it makes for quite amusing reading, most of it was said back in 05 of course and that didnt exactly go to plan for them either.

I especially giggled at the remarks of us needing major squad rebuilding to 'keep in touch' funny after the respective seasons both clubs have just had we're the ones apparently in need of major squad overhauling....:p

Deluded fools.

:lol::lol:

That is absolutely brilliant. It's just comedy gold - you don't get delusion like that anywhere but Liverpool. I feel sorry for the minority of Liverpool fans that aren't utter, utter simpletons.

The fact they think we will implode at some point in the next 2 years is very much so wishful thinking obviously. I think they should wait and see what we spend this summer before thinking that way,

We could quite possibly plug a llot of the gaps that perhaps we are missing in the 1st place and those that have been opened just now within the next 2 months.

Their "head in the sands" comment will be answered sooner rather than later...I hope

I think that may be one of the 1st RAWK threads I have ever read. They actual seem quite intelligent fans. After reading this thread it was not what I expected

I'm amused by RAWKS take on little city. I think the bitterness levels on both sides could just be the end of the internet Man City have loadsamoney. Yawn. Bluemoon • View topic - RAWK on our transfers

I'm reading the earlier bits of the RAWK thread. Some self-proclaimed ITK (who I think is wumming) says City are spending £80M on 'Arry's "blow your brains out" transfer, with assorted discussions about who City could actually get that's worth eighty million:

Some eejit RAWKite said:
To be honest, if its not Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Ronaldo, Rooney or Gerrard then my brains are tucked up safely in my skull.

You can't expect them not to enjoy this. Us failing to pick up our second trophy of the season is literally as good as it gets for that club these days.

Why LFC will always always sit above that shite.

The above thread is priceless. None of it has any logic to it whatsoever and they all suck it up. Still, apparently they're now happy to win nothing, which is great for King Kenny.

So it's 5 > 3 on European Cups and 1 > 0 in terms of European bans deriving from disgraceful behaviour described as "the darkest hour in the history of the European competitions". Those two extra trophies will never be worth the shame of those deaths.

How many times a week does some essay turn up on RAWK about how they are superior to us? Running out of trophies to compare so now it's about "class" and "dignity".

If they are even half as "classy" as they keep pretending to be then the next time we turn up at Anfield every single one of them should give us a standing ovation for knocking them off their perch.

Deluded cnuts. Whatever was classy about that club has now been completely lost in their utter bitterness. There is nothing classy about losing as badly as the fans of LFC. They have gone from the biggest club in English football to the biggest joke, shedding every last drop of class they ever earned along the way.

classy :smirk:

like Carragher's assault on Nani and Gerrard's reaction. Gerrard and "class" in the same sentence is laughable. The guy is on a level with Terry and Tevez. As for their fans, when you think that shit throwing was not one of their worst acts............

There's a thread about Rafa in the LFC forum marking the anniversary of his departure. It has the potential to be very cringeworthy.

Bang on, and as Plech alluded to, there's few things less dignified than constantly going on about how dignified you are.
