If results aren’t good it’s not much of a message, he’s back to picking less talented players because it’s easier and they’ll run around more. It’s a short term fix and may get job done today but considering how long he’s been in the job it’s not good enough.

I do agree with a horses for courses approach but think he is picking the wrong horses for the wrong courses. Pogba shouldn’t start a match that’s another team’s cup final like that Istanbul match, he’ll be outworked. But against that workmanlike Everton midfield, perhaps that IS the time to use him, no one’s running beyond him there I feel. It’s confusing. Certainly he can’t be relied on as a focal point in the team. If that’s the message to him, that he needs to do more, I’m all for it.

That's true, but the larger point about inflexibility in the front three is a major issue. Two guys like Rashford and Martial should be very flexible to play on either side when necessary. There's absolutely no reason why either cannot perform in a wide right position. If you can only shine in inverted roles then that's a problem.Hope Lindelof's back holds up, because Calvert-Lewin will need close attention today.

Perhaps. I think given how long Pogba’s been at the club, by the standards of his position in the wage hierarchy, he’s the one who isn’t good enough. Those wages could go on a serious player if Pogba left.
