    He wasn't awful against Middlesbrough.

We must've watched a different game.

All our players were awful in that game.
Rooney was a slight upgrade to Wilson, but Rooney was also awful.
The match day thread for that game was more entertaining than the game itself.
We played for 2 hours and couldn't score a goal. And in fairness had we played another 2 hours, we'd not have scored. We were bad. I mean really bad.
Even when it came to penalties we were awful.

Maybe I watched a different game.
    We lost BTW.

Pereira certainly wasn't awful against Boro unless you expected him to single-handedly won us that game.

Any reason for this, or is it just another cock up on our part? I read yesterday that we had until 5pm to get it sorted so that he could play.
From what LvG was saying he lacks match rhythm and needs some games @ u21 level anyway so I think they were never really pushing it.

United squad: De Gea, Romero, Varela, McNair, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson, Herrera, Schweinsteiger, Fellaini, Mata, Pereira, Lingard, Memphis, Rooney, Martial, Keane
From M.E.N. Players who are at the Lowery.

    No Carrick or Schneiderlin?

Tricky to pick a midfield 2 out of that selection. Presumably Herrera or Fellaini partnering Schweinsteiger?

    hmm

    Romero

    Darmian McNair Smalling Borthwick-Jackson
    Schweinsteiger Herrera
    Lingard Pereira Memphis
    Rooney

Subs: De Gea, Varela, Blind, Fellaini, Mata, Martial, Keane
    Tough one.

Young, Carrick, Schneiderlin and Januzaj arn't in the squad.

Seriously?! Cheers for that. Haven't really listened to any team news leading up to the game. Probably go with:

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling McNair Blind
    Schweinsteiger
    Lingard Herrera Fellaini Martial
    Rooney

Slightly risky line-up prediction, but here goes...

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling McNair Blind
    Herrera Schweinsteiger
    Lingard - Mata - Depay
    Rooney
    2-0 Depay, Herrera

Boring game, unspectacular performance, job done.

Kinda want this to go to a replay just to see if I can get a ticket and have a night out in Sheffield afterwards.

That apathetic towards the current team and LVG.

    We'll smash them, 4/5-0.
Our tactics are effective against teams that are more likely to make mistakes. They didn't work against 'Boro because defensively they're as good as a PL team. Should have no problem with a mid league 1 side.

    De Gea
Darmian Smalling PaddyMcNair(Jones if fit) Blind
    Schneiderlin Carrick
    Lingard Mata Martial
    Rooney

They have everything to gain from a draw so can't see them trying to attack much. If they play compact and sit back, we will struggle to break them down like we always do.

    De Gea
    Varela McNair Blind CBJ
    Schweinsteiger Pereira
    Lingard Herrera Memphis
    Martial
Do you really think he will give CBJ and Varela a chance and rest the likes of Rooney and Smalling ? This is van gaal's most realistic shot at a trophy and the next match isn't for another 6 days, so there is no need for rotation is there ?

Edit: Sorry it's 4 days, my mistake. But even then, do you think he will give so many young players an opportunity ?

No I was just messing about.Smalling really need to be rested though.Too important for us right now.If he's out injured it's Top 4 gone for us.

Lol. More than Smalling, it's probably Martial that needs a rest. He looks knackered. If Smalling is rested, you need a figurehead in that defence. Blind does a great job at CB primarliy because of Smalling. But with the likes of McNair, Blind will have to be the one who goes in hard on tackles and clean up the pieces. I'm not sure he can do that. Jones maybe, but I think he is getting his grove on in the doctors office.

Playing away, this game would slightly worry me*. At home? Gonna smash them.

*Playing lower opposition away is a nightmare.

Yes ideally we should have a figurehead in defence but sometimes we should trust our other players a little bit more especially when we have 4 defenders out injured.McNair was our best player in the FA Cup tie vs. Cambridge last season.I expect us to dominate the match since it's a home match so I think we can get through with that defence.I would keep Martial in the line-up to bring us goals and we can sub him for Rooney/Keane later on if thing goes well.

is it ? But there were no reports on it in the presser ! Also saw the training session video on the club's website and they seemed fine.
They named the squad in the Manchester Evening News last night going by the players who arrived at The Lowery Hotel. No Carrick, no Morgan and no Ashley Young.

Damn... Atleast Morgan should have been included. He's hardly been given much minutes recently. it's Martial and Smalling that need the rest.

yeah, we should too strong for them even with that line up. But we all saw how it turned out last year.

So does Mata. This red zone he talks about. I would love to know how he decides who is in it.

    @LennonNL owes me €100 or £3.78.

It's worrying that even Louis' most ridiculous decisions are now predictable.

he said Young is in the red zone and probably won't feature today. Carrick and Schneiderlin too maybe. It's more sensible for them to be fresh for PL
