What I would like to see is:

    De Gea

    Darmian - Smalling - McNair - Blind

    Mata - Schwein - Herrera - Young

    Martial - Memphis
What I expect to see is: something completely different.

Considering Herrera is injured you can be sure you will see something different.

I'd like to see something like:

    --------------- De Gea
    Darmian - Smalling - McNair - Blind
    --- Schneiderlin - Schweinsteiger
    Lingard ------- Mata ------- Memphis
    --------------- Martial

Maybe Memphis and Martial swapping positions as Memphis seems to do well as a striker this season.

    -------------------------------------De Gea----------------------------------------
    Darmian------------------Smalling--------Blind----------------------------Young
    ---------------------------Bastian-----------Carrick--------------------------------
    Lingard------------------------------Mata----------------------------------Memphis
    --------------------------------------Martial---------------------------------------

    Or
    -------------------------------------De Gea----------------------------------------
    -----------------Mc Nightmare----Smalling-----Blind----------------------------
    Darmian------------------Carrick----------Schweinsteiger----------------Young
    --------------------------------------Mata------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------Martial---------Memphis------------------------------

West Ham too have few good attacking/key players injured. Dimitri Payet, Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho are all out. Just need to avoid conceding and I think our young lads will score a couple to win it.

    I'd like to see:
    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Young
    Bastian Carrick
    Mata Pereira Memphis
    Martial

I'm a bit blagged we're having to go into this game with 2 holding midfielders again when we're at home against a weakened West Ham. To be fair though even if Herrera was fit he'd probably still persist with 2 CDMs the stubborn c*nt.

think that depay should be central and martial on the wing. Depay struggles otherwise.

After Hearing how my Man United supporting brother was slightly gleeful when he heard Rooney was going to miss a few games, It got me thinking that it is pretty sad how a player who had so much potential to be one of the best has just completely turned impotent over past two years. What has happened to him? He genuinely looks like a shadow of the player he was 4 years ago. He's only 30, he should be in his prime. I'm curious to see how United do without him. I think United will win this game. Typical United luck, when West Ham have to come to Old Trafford their two best players are injured :lol:. But you guys have Injuries to so it's fair game.

Going back to Rooney I never thought he was as amazing as his goal record suggests. I'm not even saying it because I'm a Liverpool fan or anything like that. He was class for United, I'm talking about for England. I mean.. Only one solitary goal in the world cup finals. It's not good enough for a Striker. He did great when he was younger in the Euros but that's about it. I wont consider bagging a shit load of goals against sub par opposition like Kazakhstan or Lithuania (No disrespect to those countries) a success.

Does anyone think he will rediscover himself and at least get back to the 2012/13 season where he was at least worthy of an eye watering wage being paid?

I hope we avoid the dreaded 3-5-2 and keep Mata on the right as he's done nothing as a central forward player for us.

Might be a good time to give Pereira some mins. Having been the best player on the pre-season tour, it is surprising he has featured so little, especially given our difficulties scoring goals and creating chances.

Agree with this but why have you switched Darmian and Young out of interest? I think Young is best as a LB and Darmian as RB even though both can play the other flank too.

I think Young did better at RB in a flat back 4 than at LB, which is to be expected as it's very rare to play inverted fullbacks.

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Young
    Carrick Schweinsteiger
    Mata
    Lingard Martial Memphis
Really hope we don't go with the 3-5-2 but it is something Van Gaal chooses when we have a lot of injuries and it makes sense a little. Maybe Schneiderlin in midfield, but more likely he will come in against Wolfsburg. Hope for a good performance, but I think we'll win even if we play poorly since we're home. Front 3 has a ton of pace at least.

Ive posted a 3-5-2 prediction in another thread but maybe Fellaini will come into replace Rooney and we go with

    De gea

    Darmian
    Blind
    Smalling
    McNair

    Schneiderlin
    Schweinsteiger

    Lingard
    Fellaini
    Mata

    Martial

Maybe Memphis in for lingard or mata. Thoughts?

Edit - now edited to add a midfield. This will be the team though

    Nothing wrong with 352.
It'll help us be defensively solid and will probably result in a 1-0 win for us.
It'll be a borefest for sure, but I am now used to that - LVG is trying to win the league and that's all that counts.

It could do with a midfield to be honest.

Very brave to start with 9 men, I admire your confidence.

    :lol::lol::lol: 4-3-1 is a formation I've never heard of

    De Gea
    Young Smalling Blind Darmian
    Carrick
    Mata Schweinsteiger Fellaini Depay
    Martial

Lets play Fellaini the way we played him at the back end of last season. People called it 'hoof' football, not that I agree, but it worked. Much prefer to see the footy we played at the back end of last season, than the one we're seeing at the moment.

Earlier in the season this would have been a severe test, Payet and Sahko on top form.

With those two out, and them on a bad run, hopefully we can get a confidence booster in before Wednesday's real make or break.

One thing I don't understand is that we have the best defensive record in the league (or one of) and when the other team has the ball we look very organised but we are so reluctant to take a risk and give the ball away miles away from our own goal.

    --------------------------DDG-------------------------
    ---------Smalling-------Mcnair-------Blind----------
    ------------Schweinstegier------Carrick---------------
    Darmian------------------Mata-----------------Young
    ---------------Martial------------Memphis-------------

Not sure if that's set out right but you get the jist, could be a disaster, could be alright.

We have to hope Memphis becomes spatially aware of the distance between his arse and his elbow soon. I'd persevere with him in the team on Saturday because I've a nagging feeling that once it clicks it'll click big and he'll never look back.

I'd feel much better if Herrera was fit. I'd take 1-nil (which is basically what I'm going to predict for the rest of the season).

Ha posting on my phone has done me over there but that will be the team plus Schneiderlin and Schwein. Laugh at your peril

Almost everyone seems to have Schweinstegier in their starting eleven, but wouldn't it be wiser to rest him ready for Wednesday night against Wolfsburg and play Carrick with Schneiderlin? I would also have Young on the bench for the same reason and play Mcnair from the start. Anyone else (other than LvG) made changes with Wednesday night in mind?

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Mcnair Blind
    Carrick Schneiderlin
    Mata Fellaini Memphis
    Martial

Subs to come on: Young, Pereira.

I realise that you are saying we should rest certain players for the CL game but IMO, we need to play our full strength team in every game.
There are games where we play our best players and lose/draw.
Similarly, there are games where we rest a key player and we win.
So best, to just play our best players all the time.
When they get injured (which they definitely will), they will also get rested.
Even Rooney, for example, is now going to get some good rest (which he should've got a few months ago).
