2017 Pre Season | Sampdoria vs Manchester United

We really struggle to cross the ball don't we. Put in a good cross.

Possibly, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Any United manager regularly playing five defenders, a destoyer and a big man up front would need to be moved on.
Let's just hope these conservative lineups are only due to our next game being against a superior opponent.

Still looking like we have no clue in attack as usual. Always feels like we're a man short when we're in the opposition half.

One of the worrying things is how much of our attack goes through Valencia.
Perhaps Jose was right about getting Perisic for the left side

We're surely missing that Pogba fella who was supposedly awful in the first half.

If the plan is for you to play a 3/5-defensive line, why the hell dont you get a solid left-wing back?

We're great at controlling a game but absolute wank at creating chances and scoring goals.

Ok, this is an attacking substitution.

Did Paddy just say 4-4-4 lol??

do people really like this system? i'm finding us pretty boring (yes, even for a preseason match), hopefully things change with Martial and Rashford on now

and it's Matic's first pre-season match too, so I'm not sure if Sampdoria not being deep into their preseason plays any part here.

point being its a non competitive match against a team that's not the highest quality opposition we'll face, and one that's not fully fit at that, so its hardly the place to gauge how much of a positive difference matic is/will be, though initial signs are good

We've got some shocking footballers. I've never seen anyone needing to take 12 touches to bring a 5 yard pass under control.

Let's just hope these conservative lineups are only due to our next game being against a superior opponent.
More about match fitness than anything plus trying to build up a Partnership between Smalling and Lindelof due to our suspensions.
