A.C. Milan v Manchester United

Rooney and Park will be vital for this. We will look to counter and Park and Rooney are always involved in most of our good counter attacking play.

Park especially. This kind of game is perfect for our Korean pin up boy.

If he is employed on the left, the Im confident he and Evra and keep Beckham contained should he come on. As we know, Becks does not have pace anymore and needs to create space for himself to cross the ball, a perfect chance for busy bee Park to do a hatchet job on him.

One way to beat them:
IMPOSE OUR SPEED.

If we try to match Milan's slow passing game, we will lose.

Agreed. I'd like us to start at blistering pace with Park, Rooney and nani working overtime. Milan are still an old side and so will like to play the slow Italian way. anything we can do to disrupt this, through high tempo football like we employed vs La Arse will gain us success.

In fact I think the strategy employed by SAF vs Le Arse the other week as well as in last years semi final is the perfect strategy and one which the players know very well and can execute.

0-2 for the 1st leg please.

I hope Own Goal and Rooney will step up in CL too.

Funny thing is Valencia is probably the fastest person in the side, with only Rooney, Evra, and Anderson at that pace. The thing is I thought they would beat us when we drew them but the more I think about it I reckon we could embarass them. I will say one thing though is that for the past three years United always held an ace in the hand(Ronaldo) who could score from nothing, and well then they had Rooney up there sleeve its not like that anymore. Not that Rooney cant pick up for him, hell has no doubt about it, but as it is..........Rooney replaced Ronaldo, and Valencia replaced Rooney...which isnt the worst thing in the world, Valencia is class, is he as good as those two no. That said the team is playingbetter these days. Would love to see Nani and Anderson show there class, they are players who have it, the question remains if they have the desire to make it at United. Because we all know when United needed the ball to hit net they made it happen, and Terry just embarrased himself forever

Maybe the priority would be containing Seedorf until Beckham comes on.

apparently neither Vidic nor Anderson are in the squad heading to Milan.

Really looking like Anderson's days are numbered.

With regards to Park, if we start him i feel it is simply playing for the draw.

A five man midfield, with Park, and two defense minded CMs (Fletcher and Carrick) is just so defensive. Valencia on the right is not a one way winger either - he gets through his defensive work. I feel that without Nani's attacking threat, Rooney could become very isolated.

Travelling Squad: Van der Sar, Foster, Kuszczak; Neville, Brown, J Evans, Ferdinand, Fabio, Rafael, Evra; Valencia, Park, Nani, Obertan, Scholes, Fletcher, Carrick, Gibson; Rooney, Berbatov, Owen, Diouf.

Shame no Anderson or Vidic, but otherwise as expected.

Anderson is out of favor, and since he's not even flying with them, it shows that Fergie still has not forgiven him. As for Vidic, he better get fit soon and starts playing again.

I'd play the same team as against Arsenal

I'm guessing/hoping SAF is planning on leaving Anderson out as long as he did Nani - with the same result at the end of it (minus the silly red card)

As for Vidic, there's no way his first game back from injury should be against Milan - after the horror show he put on the last time that happened. It is ridiculous how long he's been out for though. feck knows what's going on with the bloke.

Yeah id say thats the most likely team obviously minus Brown for Ferdinand of course as im sure Rios a dead cert to start rightly so, id personally move Brown to right back as id be more comfortable with his defensive abilities against Ronaldinhio than i would Rafael.

.................Van Der Sar

Brown - Ferdinand - Evans - Evra

....................Carrick

..........Fletcher - ----Scholes

..Nani -......... Rooney -....... Park

Would be the way id like to see us go.

I fancy us for this one - long overdue a win. Previous ties have always had an advantage for them. Having said that, although people are saying they're not the threat they were, you could argue that they weren't all that before we played em last time. They just raised their game like Madrid have before now. Ijust feel we'll have a bit too much for them this time. Pretty excited about it with Carrick coming back into form, Rooney on fire and Valencia or Nani can turn a game in their different ways.

It'll be a 0-0. Milan won't create much. We'll be happy to sit back long periods. After the match the caf will explode in the same manner it did after the Barca semis 1st leg saying we gave them too much respect.

It is. And in all seriousness, what was the largest victory we achieved in recent times away from English shores, in the knock out stages?

EDIT: I can recollect 1 2-0 victory against Roma but no other larger than 1 goal

2-0 away to Deportivo La Coruna

Emirates?

Besides, i'd gladly take a draw from the San Siro.

I'm certain PArk will play, expecially with Giggs' injury.

Given the news today re: the travelling squad i'm convinced the team will be:

Code:
[CENTER]VDS
Brown Ferdinand Evans Evra
Scholes
Nani Carrick Fletcher Park
Rooney[/CENTER]

That would be my bet as well. With Valencia/Berba coming in the 2nd half depending what's the score.

Park has plenty of experience in the CL.

Spot on cw. It's our best away team (bar maybe Giggs and the injured defenders) against big teams right now.

SAF could be tempted to start Valencia over Nani given his recent silliness, but I doubt it, this way he'll keep Valencia fresh for the English games Nani isn't available for.

When was the last time Brown played RB for us?

I think I'd rather go with Rafael here - he's been great in recent weeks.

Agreed. The last time Brown played right-back was when he came on as a substitute in our Carling Cup match against City. His first contribution was allowing Bellamy to a deliver a cross which Tevez tapped in.

Rafael is in great form and Brown has been dodgy even at centre-back... Rafael every time for me.

He hasnt started at right back for a while, he did move their during a game recently though.

If Rafael does play there i won't be upset, because the lads gunna be special. Starting him in a game like this would certainly be a huge statement from Fergie that's for sure.

Milan will be solid at home:

VDS
Brown-Evans-Rio-Evra
Carrick-Fletcher-Scholes
Valencia-Rooney-Park

I would love to get a win but I think we will draw this leg. 1-1

1-1 would almost be as good as a win. Any score draw would be brilliant.

He's never been in the form of his life before, he's evidently happy to be at United.

And attack, attack, attack the last time United took on Milan resulted in a 3-0 defeat with no real shots on target, with possibly an even worse defence playing this time without O'Shea and Vidic there.

I'd be surprised if Park, Carrick, Fletcher and Scholes don't all start if it's 4-5-1, only real contest is between Valencia and Nani.

You missed the Arsenal game then?
