A.C. Milan v Manchester United

I would go 451 Evans and Ferdinand at CB. Rafael ahead of Brown at RB. Evra LB Nani and Park on Wing and Rooney up top. Middle Carrick, Fletch and Scholes and ofcourse VDS in goals.

I wouldn't play Rafael, after the "Miracle at Wolfsburg" the 3-5-2 formation has been proven to be fairly limited.

Should be quite easy with only Beckham to play against or you would believe from the british media.I'll be glad when these two legs are over.

I'd be surprised if he started. It looks like Gattuso and Ambrosini against Carrick and Fletcher and Pirlo vs. Scholes.

What jersey will we wear tomorrow - this one?

Yeah id say thats the most likely team obviously minus Brown for Ferdinand of course as im sure Rios a dead cert to start rightly so, id personally move Brown to right back as id be more comfortable with his defensive abilities against Ronaldinhio than i would Rafael.

.................Van Der Sar

Brown - Ferdinand - Evans - Evra

....................Carrick

..........Fletcher - ----Scholes

..Nani -......... Rooney -....... Park

Would be the way id like to see us go.

I would be very confident in this line-up

Brown has dealt with Ronaldhino before. Despite some poor form this season, Brown is more than capable of dealing with tricky wingers.

Does anyone in the US know if it will be replayed? I know it's on ESPN, but I won't be able to catch it live.

There are three weeks between this game and the second leg if I'm not mistaken, unlike in the past few years when there were 'only' two weeks. Unless we win 3-0 or something tomorrow, the tie is going to be open for that period as 3 weeks is enough for both sides to retain or lose their form.

Fortunately Kakha Kaladze, Dida, Oguchi Onyewu, Thiago Silva and Marek Jankulovski aren't Italian and definitely do do OG's ... well maybe Kakha Kaladze is a little Italian.

And what makes you think any of those players (besides Dida) are goin to start tomorrow?

Thiago Silva should start even if half-fit, because Milan's centre-back options are limited.

Nesta and Bonera are half-fit themselves anyway.

Shit didn't even see Silva in his comment. Regardless, he's a good player and is hardly as dodgy as Gooch or Dida. I'd have him starting with Nesta tomorrow with Bonera on the bench

basically only Thiago Silva, as said below ... heck I'm not sure even Dida will start.

Basically Onyewa is out of favour, out injured and out of the European squad anyway. Kaladze might be backup, Jankulovski would be lucky to be even that... maybe some of the foreigners in the more advanced roles could score own goals, just by getting in the way of a corner or something ... e.g. Pato, Huntellaar, Ronaldiniho, Beckham?

He may be a good player, still scored an own goal and he's not Italian.

must said I am worried about this game, if we ain't careful and get complacent, milan can turn us over easily.

I note that RAWK has their token "We're playing Manchester United in the Champions League and wanted the unbiased opinions of some deranged scousers" member posting on there in the last few days. They seem to have collected a few like that in the last couple of years...

Unfortunately. Hideous shirt...

Nani and Park to start on the wings and we murder them (hopefully) but i really can't wait for this tie now. C'mon United

2007
Van der Sar
O'Shea, Brown, Vidic, Heinze
Fletcher, Scholes, Carrick
Giggs, Rooney, Ronaldo.

2010
Van der Sar
Brown, Rio, Evans, Evra
Fletcher, Scholes, Carrick
Park, Rooney, Nani.

Rooney's a lot better now, maybe Nani and Park are inferior to those at 2007, but I'd say Fletcher has showed vast improvement and certainly will be the key man tonight. Also, Heinze the cnut was so poor and ran into brown nearly every time.

Also the Milan 2007 Vs Milan 2010 is some what devastingly poorer. Kaka > Ronaldinho and Kaka certainly destroyed us them. I can't see a 29 yr old Ronaldinho producing the magic tonight.

Seedorf destroyed us that night and he's still there and a 29 yr old Dinho can easily torment us if he puts on the right boots tonight.

cant believe it has been 3 years
remember it all quite well

time really does fly by

We have unfinished business with these. Carrick and Fletcher are in scintillating form and hopefully if this continues and we can win the midfield battle R Wayne can do the magic.

I think this game won't be as easy as some poster believe, Ronaldinho is starting to come into form and AC generally lift the level for CL games. I'de be happy with a 1-0 though suspect it might be a little more interesting than thay score.
