Having only seen the highlights, what a fantastic performance from Danny.

Two well-taken goals and fantastic awareness for Lingard's first.

Extremely unlucky not to score when he got the nutmeg on the keeper after the dummy and movement to create himself the chance. He showed explosive pace to breeze past the defence and the keeper on two occassions, also.

He really is a handful and creates chances on his own. If he concentrates on consistently getting his efforts on target like he did today then there's no reason he can't reach the numbers many say are beyond him.

The biggest obstacle for him is getting the number of games he needs to become a more confident finisher rather than any shortness of ability.

His all round game is pretty fantastic, he just needs to be more prolific. His finishing needs working on desperately, but whether that's from a confidence-perspective or not i'm not sure. Wasn't he pretty profilic as a youth player?

Not massively so, I don't think. I agree his finishing needs to improve, as I say though, I think it will come with games. I don't think it's beyond his ability to become a consistent finisher. Though he'll never be a Van Nistelrooy or a Van Persie he certainly has the all-round game that will give him numerous opportunities without having that 'dead-cert' conversion.

I think we would have seen him kick on last season had he remained a more consistent member of the starting XI. Of course though, it is understandable why this was not the case given how well RVP delivered for us.

I don't know if anyone remembers that moment against Madrid where out of nowhere he just turned and drove straight at the defence, and before they really knew what was happening he was past everyone, except for Varane's superb last-ditch tackle which took it off him just as he was about to shoot.

He did the same thing again today, and ended up being brought down for a free kick. When he does it he reminds me of a very young Ronaldinho just when he first broke through into the Brazil first team, joining Ronaldo and the rest. He didn't indulge in the trickery so much, but despite being skinny he had a very powerful, direct way of running with the ball when he wanted to. He used to spear straight through the centre of defences.

Danny has the same sort of leggy pace, and the type of control over the ball when moving at pace which lets him always push it into that position where the defenders' momentum works against them, giving him the chance to sprint free with it. I wish he'd do it more often.

Yep. fecking hell, it was absolutely ludicrous. I was hoping some of the pommy top reds sat in the tier next to us would come down and chin the fecking cnuts. At one stage they were giving them shit but they kept going.

(I'm not having ago at their supporter base or the lads here. But these men were beyond fecking sad.)

There were a fair few young kids with all sorts of teams strips on and that's completely fine but I just didn't understand why grown men would go kitted out in their Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool gear. There were even a few Spurs kits.

Why on earth would you shell money to go and see this if you were a rival fan? I just don't get it. Thanks for the 200$ and all fecking see ya later but.. Ok.

Maybe because this is the closest any of them will get to watching an EPL match, honestly I mean no offence but that's just a stupid comment. If this game was played in Melbourne I would have loved to have gone.

Calling grown men who dress up in kits of teams that aren't even playing idiots is a stupid comment? I'm not sure i understand if that's what you're saying or not.

I mean the fact they're there watching United play.

Those hecklers are dipshites though.

Hm...yeh i don't mind people going to watch even if they don't support United, they could be there cheering on the other team. But to go in full kit of an opposition team and to heckle constantly sounds a bit petty. I'd never spend money to purely go and boo City in person.

Exactly, why spend that much money to yell at a player/team that won't actually hear you.

I hope we can play this pressing game. That is what a lot of people were moaning about, that we gave other teams too much time and stood off them.

Yes, that's something that impressed me the most. Reading about Moyes working Evertons players hard, I was hoping that would be the case. If we can maintain that it will be like a new signing. I think the pace of the team also helped, because as soon as we won it we had players running and they're all capable of beating a man so it put them under a lot of pressure.

So you're going to the Liverpool game then? Will you be in your full Arsenal kit to that game? Would you have gone fully kitted to this one in Arsenal gear?

I just don't get it. Young kids for sure, bring along a bunch of your sons friends and they support all kinds of clubs, or just in general I totally understand it. One guy we walked to the stadium near was getting photo's of him in his Chelsea gear with his chest puffed out near the merch tents, the front of the stadium and inside near the merch headquarters.. What the?.. What is the point though of grown men coming in other teams shirts/jackets/hats/beanies. If I was to go to another game (and I probably just wouldn't go anyway) there would be no way I'd wear United gear to it.

Probably being too precious on account of the utter wankers who needed a good chinning but it just boggles my mind.

I think he was just referring to the bit about going to see another team's pre-season game, not to the bit about being a full-kit wanker (or the yelling of slurs etc).

I think he meant wearing gear was ok. I thought, anyway. I think it's a bit sad. It's probably a big indication of the 'support to wum' nature of a lot of the football fans in this country. Offices are littered with wankers who just wind people up and don't really watch the games. My football team is littered with wankers who don't even know players past the first team and stars. But will give you non-stop shit if your team loses.

Like I said though the wankers probably rattled me and I am being too precious.

I would go and watch if I wanted to but I wouldn't go out of my way to show everyone I supported a different team.

I wouldn't go to see Liverpool if you payed me but I suppose I might go to see a big team if it was cheap. I certainly wouldn't go in a United shirt and moan all the way through the game.
