Yeah I did feel that too. There wasn’t much else he could have achieved with them. It was extremely unlikely he could get them back to another champions league final. And it was going to be a struggle to beat his previous best of getting 2nd in the league.

They came 3rd in the season you’re talking about on the last day with Arsenal pipping them to 2nd which no one remembers cause it was all about Leicester.
But he did come 2nd the season after behind Chelsea. And then 3rd again the season after that.

In all honesty, I prefer the Atlanta manager. He’s got them playing a brilliant offensive style of Football; challenging for trophies without the best players and also while leaking goals all the time
I don’t know much about him but my only fear with such a manager would be that he is managing a team which can be expansive as the oppositions don’t sit deep and park the bus against them as they would with someone like Juve or Inter. So whether he would be able to apply his philosophy at a club where the pressure is much higher and the approach by opponent teams is very different to what he would have experienced. It would have to be regarded as a high risk appointment.
Now odds on to be our next manager.

These odds don't mean much tbf. Truth is at United the manager is always one 3-0 win away from buying himself time till the end of the season
He still strikes me as a bit of a choker.
That isnt really true is it? If we are 10th and get a 3-0 win, he wont be in the job if he loses 10 games in a row.
I just can't get excited about him at all. 100% believe he's a better manager than Ole, would do a better job, but I feel so little for him, to be fair if he comes in and makes us good I'm sure I'd warm to him. He doesn't strike me as having the character to manage us, but I'm sure we'll see.

Poch would come in and we'd play better football I have no doubts. Then he'd go through the exact same issues Moyes, LVG, Jose n Ole have. Total incompetence above him to get players in (the right ones ) and also in handling contracts.
Don't see us winning the PL or CL whoever the manager is tbh until we get rid of Woodward and his 2 best cronies. Hopefully get the owners out too but id settle for just Woodward n Judge out on their ear for now. That would be a decent start.

I'd rather take a serious look at Julian Nagelsmann if Leipzig have another good season. If he actually wins something, I'd take a very serious look at him.
Much as it pains to to say it, I think that the clock is ticking down on Ole now, the team is in awful form, there is a feeling of flatness after the window, and we have a really tough run of fixtures coming up....Added to that, Pochettino is still available as is Allegri, I'm not sure that Ole will last until December....
Even if such a manager existed and was available, there is no chance that they would agree to join United in its current state anyway. No top level manager is going to willingly subject themselves to this shitshow, now that Ed Woodward's incompetency has been fully established for all the world to see.
There's no way that Nagelsmann, for example, is going to torpedo his fledgling managerial career by coming here. We will have to take a bit of a punt with the next appointment, and someone like Pochettino would be a great option, if we can persuade him to join.
I’d imagine he’s favourite to be sacked because of the seriously tough run of fixtures we have coming up. Not many are expecting him to get through the next 7 fixtures unscathed.
This is one of the stupidest things I see constantly repeated on here. It's unbelievably stupid.
We're not sacking him until the end of the season. Mourinho only got sacked midseason by turning the entire club toxic and falling out with everyone around him from players to the board. He had to beg to get sacked.
He would've been here till the end of the season if that didn't happen. Ole's not looking for a pay off so won't do that.
I don't think Ole and Moyes, and LVG fail because the board fail. Its clear currently that Ole has a lot of quality players to his disposal and he can't organise them, fails to control games consistently enough and generally isn't maximising their potential.
We can blame the board of course but when you have a squad with a lot of talent and fail to perform against Palace or Brighton or Southampton or a relegated Huddersfield or a shit Everton side, you start looking at the management. That's what Chelsea and Arsenal did.

Given a budget which Poch knows he's pretty much guaranteed to. I think we can become a fighting force under him. Think it will give majority of our fans a boast too. Obviously there's always going to be the doubters but you get that with any manager.

It's why our club is in the shit it's in. We keep veering off track by jumping from one footballing ideology to another which wouldn't happen if the recruitment strategy was independent from the coach.
I agree because the job is very appealing due to the work that's been done at youth level and the first team is very capable of showing much more too.
The problem is that fans always take one isolated scenario.
Prior to Pochetino in 14/15 spurs finished, 4th, 5th, 6th.
Poch 14/15 - 5th, 3rd, 2nd and 3rd - very good job I agree.
Now, with no budget. He only had that once.

He got to the CL final in the same way Ole finished 3rd too.
The season he got to the CL final spurs lost 20 games.
Ole last season lost 12 games.
I am not saying Poch is a bad manager, I would back him if he got the job however; I feel alot of fans are over hyping Poch.

Also final league positions don't tell the full story. (Mourhino finished 2nd). Spurs were in the title race up to the last couple of games.
I am coming around to the idea of Pochetinno as our next manager though I still have some major concerns about him, any body expecting him to get United playing free flowing football is in for a Shock he is more similar to Early days Mourinho rather than Klopp or Pep.

I agree totally, I hate the no budget praise he gets when he clearly spent money, and mostly on shit i may add. Plus he had a free Harry Kane that saved him no end of times.
Yeah people have wanked themselves silly over the idea he plays great football when it's far from the truth. His football is effective but it's workmanlike and boring.

The United way changes and gets dragged down a level depending on whichever manager we have. There were people going on about Mourinho's scrappy football being the United way back then too, because err we used to win tight games.
Personally I’d say the United way is 442 and flying wingers as that’s what I grew up with. Guess each person has their own view of it But I wouldn’t go after a manager because he plays this supposed United way.
This is it. The Manutd way is nothing special IMO. If a manager comes in and wins us PL and CL, it will be the Manutd way.
Fergie didnt have one way of playing, we adapted depending on the opponent. Winning is the United way.
This thing that Poch plays good football is again a myth. Similar to what Hasnhutl is doing, they are a very good pressing team that create chances by pressing. When it comes to breaking down teams, how good is Poch? No one sits behind 10 men against Spurs.
I don’t see any way how Ole stays till the end of the season. I was actually an Ole in person because the team was showing progress in terms of league finish and recruitment to an extent.
But I’ll be seriously shocked if he’s still manager after the next 7 games. Simply because of our form being so bad, I just can’t see a run of wins against Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal and PSG. Our defence looks a shambles and there’s nothing we can do to change them until another window.
Personally I feel we should target someone who has a defined footballing ideology which involves 'attacking football', high pressure, fast transitions and for that I wouldn't look past Marco Rose or Julien Nagelsmann.
You mean early days Mourinho at United, right? Or do you mean Mourinho from 2004 - 2010? That Mourinho was more or less invincible and no way is Poch anything close to that. And I include playing style as well, Mourinho until 2010 kept it tight at the back but everyone and his dog knew he would win the game in the end 99% - 100%. That alone made the games worth watching even if it was boring.
Of course he had better players than Poch but still.
