Aaron Ramsey

Was having a poor game as well and then he went and did that! Unbelievable goal by him

Hopefully we can keep him fit next season, such a vital player for us now. 10 goals and 8 assists in 20 starts and three sub appearances. Does so much defensive work as well, really has become a great all round player.

He's such a fantastic player.

I reckon Arsenal would've finished second atleast if he stayed fit. His performance against Liverpool at the Emirates where he absolutely dominated them still stands out.

Possibly the player I most admire in the league at the moment. Endless running combined with great technique and the intelligence/drive to contribute in the areas where it matters most. He's practically the only midfielder/attacker Arsenal have this season that played with real urgency and purpose.

Goals, assists, tackles and endless pressure. He is second in tackles per game in the league which, considering what he offers offensively, makes him such a well-rounded midfielder.

He's been the shining light of our season.

Bit of a bold claim there? Not sure even Arsenal fans would agree with you...

Anyone have a GIF of the goal? I've not seen it.

I think if he maintained his form all season (so without the injuries), he would have been in the conversation (Still behind Suarez and Toure though). He has been on another level this season when fit.

Unless you can find this form represented over a long period, then surely you're wrong... Playing outstanding for 38 games and playing well for the 3/38 games you're fit for are two very different scenarios, and nothing suggests he'd be able to sustain his good form, there's nothing to say he wouldn't but until he shows some form over 6 months at least, then he will always be a what if..

He was scoring & setting up goals and defensively superb before he got injured, came back and carried on his like he hadn't been missing at all. I'd say Yaya challenged Suarez for the POTY award so see no reason why Ramsey wouldn't have as well. That isn't to say he would have been player of the year but certainly among the contenders.

I did say "I think if he maintained his form all season" so I guess we are agreeing?

However he played well for more than 3/38 games IMO given he has played about 23/38 and in most of those games his form has been up there. Which is why I would say if he didn't get injured and he was playing at the level he has been playing when fit, then he would be up there.

Perhaps I need to watch more of him, I just feel a lot of very good players couldn't make the transition from 20/40 amazing games a season to the 30-35/ 40 a season that Suarez manages.

FWIW, I never meant to downplay his ability, merely the fact that if you haven't showed a whole season worth of form, then there isn't anything concrete to suggest he's able, I realise he has played well when had the opportunity, I guess time will tell, injuries allowing, if he can make that final step up, if he does, he'll be a hell of a player..

He has been superb since the start of 2013 for us, what he has added this season is goals to his game. Said he worked on being a lot more composed in the summer and not rushing things. Also once you start scoring your confidence improves but before he found himself in good positions but tended to rush things. Guy has unreal stamina as well, towards the end of games when others look tired it looks like he seems to gain energy! Need to be careful though because even though he is naturally quite a fit player we overplayed him this season and paid the price for that.

Think his thigh problem hasn't fully cleared up so hopefully a good rest in the summer should clear that up.

Ramsey's been superb since the end of 2012, beginning of 2013 for us. Was vital in securing us that fourth spot last term, and carried on his form internationally and for us for the first half of this season. He would've been in with a shout for POTY without a doubt.

He's a wonderful player. His and Walcott's injuries stopped Arsenal from competing for the title.

It'S scandalous that Woy didn't have him in the squad. Bale should have been in too.

White text....

In the first 3 months, Ramsey was in a class of his own. He simply dominated games on his own. A true box to box player. Without his injuries I'd say he would've given Suarez a good run for his money POTY.

Ramsey missed a substantial part of the season and then came back without missing a beat. His form has been great since the start of '13, it was just that he added end product to his game this season.

Agreed, although Wenger not making any January signings also stopped Arsenal from competing. But Ramsey was a huge miss for them, he's made them tick this season. Which is so ironic considering Ozil signed for them and everyone assumed he'd be dynamite. Ramsey's well and truly stolen his thunder.

Had he continued his form through the season, i'd have had him above Suarez as player of the year to be honest.

Can we say that constant injuries to RVP, Carrick and Rafael, our three best players last season were the reason we didn't compete for the title?

We dealt with terrible injury situations in the past and still managed to come out on top.

No doubt Ramsey has had a wonderful season. Exactly the kind of dynamism and goals we have needed from the midfield. Wish he joined us (was even announced on our website :() than Arsenal.

I understand everything you are saying, and perhaps I presented my point in the wrong way, I shouldn't have said it's unlikely, but more it's not nailed on for me..

We have far too many stagnant players when we attack. Ozil needs Walcott/Ramsey and Ox and any player that makes runs into space. Whilst Caz, Podolski, Giroud and Wilshere are too stagnant or prefer it played to their feet.

Edit: 100% agree regarding the signings. It was a joke of a situation we found ourselves in. Having said that, I am not sure who was available.

If Cesc was nailed on to come back I'd actually flog Wilshere to make room.

Muppets can dream.

You really should have rocked the boat during January and got Draxler. Pissing about all of January and then ending up empty handed was a poor move. That's coming from a fan of a club that swooned over Fabregas for 3 months last summer!

You think Arsenal will spend big this summer?

We'll take him off you for £10m + Anderson. Crock for crock. Also, that way the only time Anderson shits on Fabregas will be at Arsenal's training ground.

The best thing about his game is that the goals and assists aren't his bread and butter - they are the extra dimension. He is in the side for his ability to close players down, win the ball back and then move into space.

They helped to get the spotlight on him though. He was doing his good work quietly for months before bursting to life in front of goal in the past 12 months.

I'm pessimistic about it... We NEED to though, and there is no excuse not to as far as I am concerned.

I didn't expect Ozil in my wildest dreams, so hopefully I am surprised again.

Exactly. It was a matter of time since he just works harder than other players and always pushed himself into good positions. Now he is composed enough to take his chances (and thank farq for that).

I blame you. The season you joined on here is when it all started going downhill, starting with that night in Paris :(

Ozil has been key in his form as well this season, his movement and passing has made us a lot better. He helps create space for the likes of Ramsey to exploit, he hasn't been eye catching because he hasn't set up that many but 5 goals & 9 assists isn't a bad return at all. His problem has been without Theo lack of dynamic players in the final third, the through ball is almost never on.

January is a hard window to do business in, we really fecked up last summer not getting a striker in

I think we will spend big this summer, three key positions need to be sorted (RB, DM, CF) and I think we will make a strong challenge again for the title. Also need to keep our players fit.

Hahaha, now you mention it....

I bought a Vermaelen jersey after his great first season - next season he was injured for all the way through.

I then bought a Wilshere jersey after his break out season where he played many games - next season he was injured the whole season.

I also bought an Arshavin jersey - you guessed it, missed games and form dropped.

I tempted fate and bought an Ozil jersey this season (how could I not though - he was my favourite player outside of Arsenal)... Lucky he only missed a few months.

The curse is breaking!

I agree with the RB/DM/CF. But I'd add in a world class CB. I'd throw money at Marseille for N'Koulou if I was your lot. RB is a tricky position to fill, there are very few RB's out there.

Haha yeah I remember your Arshalove, Nasrilove and Vermalove.

I think Wenger's going to make a last push for the title and call it quits (I thought this might be the season he would, actually). Hopefully he sets it up nicely for the successor. Having a solid spine and significant step up in quality in this team makes it easier.

We've been heavily linked to Aurier, looks to be very good in attack but defensively not as solid as Sagna.

We probably need a reserve CB if Vermaelen leaves but don't think we'll spend big there until next year, a more mobile/better DM should sort us out defensively. Per & Koscielny have been solid for us, apart from the away games where our baffling tactics left us exposed we had only conceded 21 goals in 34 games. I don't think (well bloody hope not!) we'll concede that many goals in our tough games next season
