Adnan Januzaj

You have to take into consideration that Young, Nani, Hernandez and Rooney were not fit though. On a regular Saturday I think he'll find it tough going to make the bench as good as he looks, but I'd love to see him do so.

Like I said in my post I did take that into consideration. But we need to forget age with him, he's shown he's more than capable and has the talent and confidence to match. I reckon he'll get plenty of chances.

Couldn't believe he picked the wrong pass after all that great work.

To be fair, everyone in the area were covered from his point of view, so he did well to find Carrick or whomever it was.

Yep, whoever just runs ahead of his pass (Zaha, I think?) should have stayed put. Not only did he run behind a defender, but he ran into the same space as another United attacker. Cardinal in-the-box sin. Stagger your runs lads.

Nice run by Januzaj though. Sometimes you forget his best bits because he does it so effortlessly. That didn't look like a big deal at the time but he basically beats three consecutive defenders single-handedly there.

That's the moment I asked for a gif of earlier. Sure, Zaha should have stayed put the the pass should have come a moment earlier.

I think Zaha made the run to early. Maybe the pass could have been better but I think after a run like that you can expect some help from your team mates.

Maybe if Silva grew up in the United academy. Adnan, for me, plays far too many long passes and attacks players head-on to be compared to Silva. He's much more like Ozil in my opinion.

I think once he delayed the pass by that split second he should've simply picked out Giggs in acres of space. Agree about the Ozil comparison too.

Adnan being left footed certainly should have it's advantages at United at the moment. Giggs is the only attacking player who is purely left footed, although Kagawa also looks comfortable with his left foot.

You might be right there, I like Ozil as a comparison. Adnan's more flexible than a 'Silva': does a wider range of things with the ball, and covers more areas of the pitch. It's a common feature of United youngsters, we never let them get too specialised. Look at the current academy products in the first team squad. At one time or another they've all been given a spell in a different position to the one they currently play.

Clearly stemming from Meuelensteen and the dutch way - established at Barca by Cruyff.

They always make the players play a different attacking or defending position so that their game is not limited. Very good idea and makes the players more complete.

I don't think Cruyff was the first one to encourage players to be comfortable in various roles. In fact I don't think he's even the first Dutchman.

Rinus Michels it was who first bought Cruyff and started the so called Barcelona way of playing football. Every dickhead in the media seems to forget that it was Ajax who played like that first.

I'd love to see him get plenty of playing time but this is the main concern. Even with all of those players absent he was still the 4th person off the bench against Wigan, I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet.

This is adnans season imo, he will break through. Does anyone else share the opinion or do they think moyes wont play him much?

I can't decide whether he's quick or not, yet he glides past players with the ball with such ease of someone of his age like in that gif above

His attribute in that sense is being able to open up a yard of space for himself. When he's able to do that then he can run past them but he'll not be the type of player to knock the ball down the wing past a player and beat him.

I think the lad is the dogs bollocks, but I just can't see him getting regular game time just yet. There are too many senior players in his way. I do think Moyes will try and gwt him on the bench as much as possible though, which will see him get 10+ games though.

All that being said, I've no doubt he'd make an impact if relied upon now. It's just the fact that there are 4 or 5 players ahead of him due to age and seniority.

I'd love it if Moyes completely went against the norm and just got Januzaj in the match day squad every week though. I must say, he's played him a lot over the summer and I wasn't expecting to see him on the bench on sunday after 90 mins vs Sevilla. Maybe Moyes will use him more than we expect?

Well if you guys want fuel for the fire, his names been taken down from the u21s section on manutd.com and his profile is only in the first team, whereas the likes of Keane and Johnstone are listed in both.

I still expect him to play u21s games but I think he'll be a lot more involved with the squad than everyone else seems to think.

Hopefully that is significant, though Moyes has made it pretty clear that he rates him. It's just a question of whether you can drop one or two of Young, Zaha, Valencia, Nani, Kagawa and Rooney on a regular basis just to fit him in. If it was me then I'd do it, but seeing Fergie use Pogba the way he did makes you realise how conservative they usually are with their approach to youngsters.

Yeah but I think that's why he will get a lot more opportunities. I think it's too simplistic to say that Young and co are ahead of him by right, at the end of the day the opportunity is there for Januzaj to take. If Adnan gets his chances and continues to play how he has been and is able to influence games and make an impact then why should other players be ahead of him if they don't perform as well?

It's an exciting season for Adnan anyway, hopefully he's able to take his chances when he gets them and fights for his place in the team.

As things stand

Rooney - injured/uncertain
Young - injured
Nani - injured
Kagawa - not enough match practice

Januzaj has an excellent chance to impress Moyes and edge himself ahead of some of the senior players

It's depressing, but I'd already rather see him on the left side of a front 3 ahead of Ashley Young.

we should get this kid on a long contract as soon as possible

he has performed far better for the first team than I expected. Watching the reserves I felt he had the talent but physically might struggle but he looks ready to play a part

Im one of the few on the Caf who likes Young, yet I agree with you here. I'd rather see Adnan play.

One of my fears is that Moyes, under pressure in his first season, opts for the older tried and tested experienced players.

I really like this kid, but he is not ready enough for being a regular in the premier league, no way. He needs to finish maturing... Is not the same playing against shitty asian teams. He has the flair, intelligence and technique. Add some muscle and power to that equation and he will be ready.

remember what happened with Bojan... too much hyping can end up in burning.

ps. between 5 and 10 games should be more than enough to help him settle slowly into the premier.

ps2. Me too got carried away after the good performances of Adnan... but now getting close to the start of season, reason takes over.

I'd like to see one of Zaha/Januzaj play in lots of games, but would be a bit nervous if they both started, and not sure about either against top sides at the moment.

Not sure how productive they will be at this level just yet. But keen for them to get a few opportunities.

Nani is our only winger with a guaranteed high goals/assists output.
