Looking forward to see who comes out to defend him today. This is the buttner we all know and hate. He played okay in his last outing, it might have been against a full strength Liverpool but it was also against a poor Liverpool.

Agreed - should have brought on Evra for him instead of Fellaini - would have given us a real chance. I am normally defending our players but Buttner is constantly giving balls and cheap free kicks away. He should only play in the CC and in dead CL games.
Didn't a scout say that he was 4th best LB in Holland last summer on our list or something like that ? He's shocking and shouldn't play for this club anymore. He's that bad.

For his sake he needs to improve and fast! I have my doubts about him defensively and he hasn't seemed to address them yet. Fabio is well worth a shot as the next best option to Evra.

Just off the top of my head the mistakes he made today:
1) He allowed Anichebe (I think) to run through cleanly towards goal by moving completely out of the way for him thinking he was going to pass.
2) He decided to go to sleep when the ball went past him and slowly jogged towards it and was almost caught out as a west brom player almost ran past him but luckily managed to draw a foul
3) He left his man from the corner who got a free volley 3 yards away from goal.
4) He did a slide tackle and completely missed the ball.
5) He made 1 good cross, the rest poor.
Anything else I've forgotten? Compare that list to the amount of good things he did, okay in the end he improved going forward etc but his primary job is to defend and he has too many mistakes in him for me to ever think he could be good enough.

Really can't believe he gets in to the squad over Fabio who can play both left back and right back, and also happens to be a much better player than Buttner.
I don't even think he's PL level never mind playing for any team with title aspirations.
Can the myth that he's "very good" going forward now be put to bed? He's good technically, but other than that he's just extremely average, except defensively, where he's poor.

He really isnt. He's shambolic defensively. Him being left footed is the only reason I can think of why he gets in there ahead of Fabio.

Agreed. Being a left back means you are primarily a defender. If you can't defend well there's little use for such a player. Buttner is probably good as a squad player but at the moment not good or consistent enough. Learn that Moyes!

Said after his last game poorest first team squad player w have not United class and playing him in front of Evra or even Fabio who for me is not a natural left back is strange. I'd rather have Evans there than Buttner, time to move Buttner Anderson and Young on. Plus Rio and Giggs last year to let youngsters flourish hopefully.
Definitely not even close to being at the level required to play for our first team. Should be shipped off in the summer and find a suitable replacement for him (Shaw?). Even Fabio is a better option at this point.

No no no. The only place he should be is in the cab home. No way should he be played as a left winger, as much abuse as young gets, Buttner is on a next level of shiteness and today just further proves my points and we have enough options in attack to warrant Shittner never getting a game there.
He may have had a decent game against Liverpool, but like I said, I see nothing in him that suggests to me that he's capable of being a united player and that one game doesn't make him a decent option.
I thought I used to hate Gibson, but this guy takes it to a whole other level. To think Southampton were close to signing him, how luck an escape they got and they now have Shaw playing instead.
Yeah, I would actually play Evans there ahead of Buttner, I remember him doing quite well against Chelsea in that position.

To be fair Evra deserved to get dropped after the City game as he was shocking but when you have an understudy like Buttner feck me its hard to do. This is where for me Moyes was bang on in the transfer window looking for Baines and Fabregas not his fault he club couldn't get them.
He's a poor left back defensively and he's okay going forward. He probably read the forum and thats why he thinks hes good going forward and a good crosser. Thats why he has the confidence to do a step over every time he gets the ball on the wing

Difference between me and you Nev is I am willing to give a lad a chance to prove himself. Comes from my years of coaching average players and seeing them improve themselves. Buttner might not be your cup of tea and neither is Fellaini but SAF thought Buttner was worthy of joining our squad and our current boss thought Fellaini was. I am willing to stick to my own convictions and those two men over some miserable little cnut who cannot wait to see people fail.
