The papers seem convinced its gonna happen and so do I, in truth.
Why another winger though? Perhaps we're selling Young.

My favourite was someone calling us all muppets and to get real, then "we'll only be signing Jones, Young and then on of Modric/Sneijder." Oh the ironing.
I don't doubt we're interested. Fergie himself said as much a year ago.
I do, however, seriously doubt we'll sign him. He'll almost certainly end up at city.
Shirt burning is it.
This is our 'Benzema' thread. People going mental over a player we will not be able to sign.
At least we are getting it out of the way early this time.
It's fair to assume based on media reports that the Young deal is effectively done.
If our interest in Sanchez is real and we did actually sign him I'm not sure why people seem to think that would mean the Young deal being scrapped.
I couldn't imagine a scenario where we tell Young the deal is off because we've pulled off the signing of a better option.

Muppettry in excelsis. I wouldn't mind if the same people were not the ones who shit on the players United already have in the match threads because all they really want is that big name player they've seen on youTube and why oh why can't United buy me what I want.
United would have had a chance if he had not had such a great WC. United can only get the lower profile guys. If Barca or Madrid really want Sanchez then does anyone seriously think United could compete?
United don't win bidding wars with the likes of Madrid. They gracefully bow out when they know they really want the same player. People need to adjust their expectations.
yeah, being a United fan made all the difference to Aaron Ramsey didn't it.
United will never get such high profile continental targets. They can't afford it. As soon as Oezil had a good WC he was out of Uniteds price range. I don't see why this is so hard to grasp for the muppets, despite it being the case summer after summer. United will never win a bidding war with City, Chelsea or Madrid.
He's too high profile now. He's well out of our price range.
When I say bidding war, I don't just mean the money. When it comes to Real and Barca then its not just money, it's the prestige for latin players. When we got Tevez, if Real or Barca had really wanted him, then where would he have ended up? When it comes to City and Chelsea its more the money.
Sanchez is so high profile at this stage that all 4 will be interested. We can't compete with the Spanish clubs on the attraction for latin players. We can't compete with the English two on money.
Which was a lot better than the alternative
Then why are you posting in this thread?
Some of Charleysurf's other posts in the thread. Seriously what a dick.
Errr. The Benzema fiasco was nothing like this was it?. I mean we were certainly interested, but were blown off by Lyon's pricing of their prized asset and from what i remember didn't meet the representatives from Lyon for Benzema. I'm fairly certain that Gill has met Pozzo since there are about 3 to 4 papers confirming the same.
If facts are as what is reported then a transfer is not near impossible. Barca are more than well equipped meaning sanchez won't have a great role in the side, City are not yet in the same league as United or Barca or any of the other teams mentioned. For a player of Sanchez's pedigree, i'm pretty sure that money isn't be all end all. So if the fees is agreed between the sides, i think we'd actually be slight favorites to land the guy. The general skepticism of acknowledging the tabloids is understood, but to say we don't stand a chance or that city will definitely get him smacks of masochism.
Pretty obvious really, he's not the first choice on his favoured right side, and well Young is more productive from the left, so I think it's safe to assume he'd be the first choice there. Rotating between them 3 would be easy though, but bringing in Sanchez, especially at this price, makes it's much harder as well, Rooney and Hernandez is clearly going to be main two up top....so he's going to play a lot as a winger as well as third choice forward...so yeah pretty clear why Nani would be 4th option on the wing.
Sanchez can operate in any of the forward positions, which is why he is so attractive. None of this suggests that Nani either will or should be fourth choice. As a right sided player I would choose him every single time over any of the other players, and despite a perceived lack of productivity, I would still select him ahead of Young on the left.
First XI (40-55 games)
------------------------Van De Gea------------------------
---P.Jones----------Rio------------Vidic-----------P.Evra-
----Nani-----------Carrick------Anderson--------A.Sanchez--
---------------------Rooney-----Berbatov--------------------
2nd XI (15-25 games a season)
-----------------------Lindegaard------------------------
---Rafael--------C.Smalling------P.Jones----------Fabio--
--Valencia--------Fletcher-------Giggs--------Park J S---
---------------------Welbeck-----Hernandez---------------
(Players #22-26): B. Amos, Joshua King, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Paul Pogba, Ravel Morrison, Will Keane
Out: o Shea, Gibson, W. Brown, Scholes (retired), Cleverly (loan to another EPL team), Macheda (sold prob to a mid-table Serie A Italian club or loan to an English Championship Team)

But why sign Young? That's what's confusing about all of this if we are interested in Sanchez AND keeping Nani
edit: in the above team, in 2 teams, a place hasn't been found for Young!
Abd you are not Fergie who has made it obvious Valencia is his preferred choice on the right. On the left is still to be decided, but I just can't see them spending £15-20m on someone who would accept 4th option.....and neither should Nani, which is why is sellable asset if these "deals" were to happen. .
errr... when?
