ALL post Rooney transfer and policy funding discussion(NO player speculation allowed)

Manchester United broke the British Transfer Record 5 times between 1993 and 2002.

The British, not the world. We've been in for many players in the past who would be cosidered Muppet dreams and havn't got them. We have never attracted the top international (dare I say Galactico talent) and therefore have never attracted the best.

I mean, Manchester United usually buys: Youngsters, good players from the Premier League, good players from lower leagues or unkow players.

The only player we have signed that I consider "top player" is Veron. We don't usually buy "top players"

His agent wrote it. He's not going to say that he's leaving because he's a greedy, disloyal twat, is he? No, so he says this tabloid-friendly bollocks instead.

United will prove the cnut wrong.

Of course he wrote it. The whole Ferguson love-in is bullshit and put there to make United feel uneasy.

United will prove him wrong - But a player is allowed move on

Veron, van Nistelrooy, Rooney and Ferdinand weren't top internationals?

Seriously Scholesy. Just leave it. Now is not the time for you insulting our current players.

We're going to dominate tonight. Can't wait.

Y'know what. I can't be to mad at Wayne. He's looking at his career, and look at the shit we're in.

You can dig your head in the sands all you want.

But this isn't just guesswork. This is the Glazers ownership directly influencing our team. This is what we have to put up with.

Thankyou Wayne, now maybe others will open their eyes.

GREEN AND GOLD TILL THE CLUB IS SOLD.

Are you Rooney's agent? Or just as smart as Rooney himself?

I'm not on Waynes side. But some people do need to open thier eyes. The Glazers are proving to be horrifically bad for United. As some people said so.

He's been a cnut. But I thank him because although he's been a prick, the fallout from this could be good for the club.

All emerging talents and not the best in the world at the time of purchase. Not Zidane, not Ronaldo the first, not Batistuta, not Pele (to go really far back). Can we attract up and coming emerging talents, yes, we still do. Can we attract the finished article who's already on top of the world, no we never have done. ( Iknow you may argue Veron, but as good as he was he was never classed as the best). Rooney was 18, Ferdinand was only just starting to become known. Van Nistleroy, majority of United fans had never heard or knew of him until we found out we were trying to sign him. We tried for Zidane and enquired abou fat Ronaldo and basically got ignored. Batistuta we couldn't get as he wanted to stay in Italy and he considers it the only regret he will ever have in life that he never played for us.

And again in 2008.

What you chose to omit though is that since then, things have nosedived financially, there was even a cap in hand bond issue last January, that hot on the heels of selling Ronaldo for a world-record sum and losing Tevez and not replacing them adequately.

Face facts, our transfer policy has changed to suit our balance sheet's needs rather than our football team's needs.

Even our approach to contract renewals has changed, this is why Rooney wants to go and our position is a lot weaker than it should be with only one more season on his deal.

Penny-pinching measures are being taken all over the place yet you still insist all is well and money can and will be invested? Come on, wake up and admit to what's staring you and us in the face.

Man Utd have never spent big?

Cantona, Keane, Cole, Stam, Yorke, Ruud, Veron, Rio, Rooney, Berbatov.

Fair enough, we don't go for the legit worlds best often/ever, but we do after players that have that huge potential/it factor, and we haven't remotely tried to get any like that recently with the "Ronaldo money", but thats the big Rooney is speaking of, not Valencia/Anderson/Nani/Carrick type big where they come in and do a job, we are talking players who come in and make a difference and write their own legendary chapter in United's history.

I reckon if we had bought Modric and Bale in the last couple of years, good players from the Premier League, Rooney wouldn't have been talking about a lack of ambition or anything like that.

And again in 2008.

Quite. Since winning the CL in 2008 we've lost ronaldo, pique and tevez. None of those, with the exception of tevez, could really be avoided and that twat had effectively been replaced by berbatov for 30 mil.

With the exception of barca, real and city who else has been spending shitloads in the last two summers?

He calls ferguson a genius but doesnt believe we can match his ambitions. What a fecking cock.

Compare and contrast his behaviour towards us with say fabregas at arsenal who, despite clearly wanting to go to barca has never belittled and undermined his club in the way that rooney has by releasing the statement he has tonight. Arsenal have won feck all in 5 years and yet fabregas still makes it clear he believes he can help arsenal to success. Utd win a hat-trick of titles and get to two CL finals and at the first sign that rooney is our figurehead he publicly demeans his team mates and his club.

Think how ruud carried our hopes for 5 years without ever trying to pull this shit.

Rooney is either a liar or a fecking tool or, more likely, both.

Have to admit though if Ronaldo Tevez and Rooney were still part of this club and we had bought Yaya Toure last summer and Ozil this summer which isnt too extravagant for a club our size we would probably be the best team in the world right now.

All the fecking Glazers had to do was keep our players and buy one good player each summer.

Ferguson claims that van Nistelrooy handed in 3 Transfer Requests while he was at United.

This is true, and the fact Ruud was on a long-term contract meant he couldn't pull the sort of stunt Rooney has pulled.

Rooney's limited amount of time left on his contract has forced the club into a corner, that's the difference. Another result of the current owner's penny-pinching and focus on the debt and interest rates rather than the squad.

Yaya Toure and his £220k a week wages? As well as Ozil who wanted to play in Spain?

Why do people think signing new players is as easy as throwing a bid at the players current club?

That is not true.

I thought we broke only for City to break it like 30 minutes later, makes no difference, there is so little in the transfer of Rio, Sheva, Berba and Robinho they all might as well share -_-

Looking at what I just, at £30m, Rio seems like he was a ridiculous bargain in that company

"I met with David Gill [United chief executive] last week and he did not give me any of the assurances I was seeking about the future squad," Rooney confirms.

I wish I knew what assurances Rooney was seeking and what Gill actually told him.

We are not attracting the top players, that's true. We haven't bought anyone top class since the original Tevez transfer, and have lost better players than we have been signing. And since losing these players, we have not been as successful. And Rooney (providing the statement is genuine) has looked for assurances in relation to the signing of better players and not got those assurances. To be honest, if it is the case that we will not be competing for proper players, then it is justifiable for Rooney to believe that the club are not showing the ambition that they used to.

Ironically - Rooney being sold because he claims we can't attract big players could actually be the thing that forces us to get a couple of big players.

Its odd but Rooney was appart of the development project United always seems to undertake in getting players - not world class but have potential. At this moment in time we have a few players with potential who can go either way, surely he would have recognised this and thought to help the cause rather than jump ship... You know if he wasnt a cnut

The thing I always wonder about when it comes to us not signing or attracting top players is, how many of those players do we actually try to sign? Just because a player's good doesn't mean SAF wants or thinks he needs him.

Completely aligned with this

If you don't try you can't fail
