AmaZulu FC vs. United [Preseason Friendly]

Nice to see the younger lads get run outs. Also nice to see them wanting the ball and finding space.

Hopefully Lingard can get a decent loan move to get some experience and hopefully we'll get to see more of Petrucci.

This is quite easily the most pointless game of football I've ever watched.

Literally no one has gained anything from this, and the two players who might have, spent the entire game sitting on a bench doing absolutely feck all.

Really enjoyed that.

From sexy Berbatov, to Macheda looking strong, to Petrucci and Lingaard looking good and then the hilarious Kagawa sub.

I'm taking the middle ground.

I think the most interesting aspect of this match was the referees and linesman's performance. Hope we sell them soon, woeful.

Give me those two hours back.

However, I'm happy Petrucci got some minutes. I hope he makes it here.

Dull as feck.

Tunnicliffe, Petrucci, Scholes, Berbatov and Lingard all looked decent though.

Anderson's fat arse was another highlight

Sounds like I didn't miss very much.

Don't be such a muppet, the lads have gained more match fitness, they've got to see some of the young players in action, and Powell and Kagawa got to see what it's like being part of us, obviously it's a pity that they didn't get game time, but so what? They will on Saturday, it's not all about showcasing new players, if that was the case we wouldn't of played any of our existing lads.

Shite game, but it wasn't a waste by any means. Especially for the younger players.

I thought Lingard looked good, particularly in the 1st half.

Pre season. There are games just like this every pre season.

It's about getting fitness. All players will play plenty over these games.

There were about three players who will have gained anything from that match fitness wise! And the main one was Berbatov who doesn't want to play for us anymore(!!) The rest were either young enough for it not to really matter, wont be starting the season, or both.

Our pre-season games are usually nothing like that at all, even if they are often drab. It was a complete waste of time other than making enough money to pay Rooney's wages for an extra day or two.

United's pre-season will probably benefit more from a friendly game between Brazil and Britain's U23 sides, than it will from a United game. Ubergayness.

I liked him a lot. He was energetic and wanted to be involved in the game. I don't know if he has the physique to play at highest level but all in all he was a pleasant surprise. Let's hope he continue like in the rest of the pre season.

How was Kagawa when he came on? What position did he play?

Second Striker, behind Berbatov. Only had 2 real involvements- 1 was a bright turn and pass to Berba who was offside- one he held onto the ball too long and gave the ball away. Far too short a time on the field to say anything else really.

That was mindnumbingly boring. Great to see Petrucci, but god damn.. I thought we were supposed to do these games for fitness purposes, and it looks like we need it cause it looked like noone even bothered to move around in the last 10 minutes of that game.

It was the first game of the season so we can't moan too much but that was a long 90 minutes.Nice to see the young lads getting time on the pitch alongside the seniors but would have liked to see Kagawa on at half time .We're off and running though, nice to have it back.

Made a few positive runs, linked play up, created a chance for Hernandez and worked hard for the team. Pretty much what you want from a box to box type midfielder. I'm not a Tunnicliffe fan-boy, but I thought he did well.

This. Hope Tunnicliffe starts next game.

And Brady. Not a LB, not yet at least, but he was a constant threat going forward.

The game was boring as hell but great benefit to the young players who played.

Lingard, Blackett and Petrucci in particular did well.

@Drainy - The quotation function isn't working for some reason.

Cheers, thank's for that. Good to see he got a run-out. Seems I didn't miss much though.

It's the United way jaf.

A team never looks more disjointed than in the 2nd half of a friendly after half a dozen subs where you inevitably end up with 11 players who have never played together as an 11 in a match before. Tonight we had them in a formation we've practically never play as well, so that's a tough time for anyone to try to make an impression.

I thought the first half was pretty good, unlucky not to score 3 goals, Chicharito had an easy finish in the first few minutes from a save by the keeper and Macheda had a great chance from a similar position to his goal that he just hooked wide. We did a good job of trying to keep it on the ground.

Our goal kick routine was a bit different, a player by each corner flag and another at the top of the box, I can only think such a formation is meant to give the keeper lots of options to play the ball on the ground. Yet AmaZulu put three attackers on them and forced Lindegaard to kick long!

he wanted to smash that, done it a few times in his career where he cuts in and dodges the defenders to shoot low in the corner.

Well we were a bit crap, but it's preseason so I'm not too worried.

That said - our midfield disappeared from about the 55th minute to the 75th minute. Was very reminiscent of last season - even AmaZulu were able to cut through with ease.

And of course we all tuned into see Kagawa and of course Fergie had a laugh at our expense. Typical.

Let's just cancel preseason. It's strange that every team bothers their arses playing preseason matches since they're entirely pointless.

You're a right misery sometimes.

feck you can be a complete dipshit at times.

Cheer up

Yes because that's clearly what he has said.
