He's really coming along. How long did he play last night? I didn't catch the whole game.
Right footed finish for his goal. For a player who often seems has no right foot even to make a simple pass, he seems to be changing even on that front. Noticed several times now that he'll go ahead and use his right when in previous times he might have spent a little more time on the ball trying to maneuver it on to his left.
With as much as he seems to be playing and in the different pairings, I think he will figure prominently in midfield for us.

The talent is unquestionable.The big question just concerns whether he is mature enough to step up and become THE Man United midfielder.

I don't think he'll start tonight as he was on the field most of the game on Wednesday, however I know that he came back after summer a little over weight, but it's a matter of how much is little. In that something like a 2 or 3 pounds isn't much and is easily lost, it just means a little extra work in the gym.
Since his return from injury and just prior to the injury at West Ham last year, we saw Anderson start to pick up his game and show us something like the talent we know he has. He's just never had a good injury free run. I thought his goal on Wednesday, was taken excellently, more so when you consider it was with his right foot and how poor his goal record has been of late. Yeah, I can see him getting six or seven. Hopefully he can cement a place in the team. When he's on he's probably the one player we have that could really be a top midfielder.

He wasn't too bad, didn't seem afraid to get stuck in, but his long range passing was a bit off. In all honestly he was completely outshone by Cleverley.
it's easy to say that when Cleverley played the full game whereas Anderson only played 45 minutes
Anderson was very good first half and IMO outshone Cleverely who had a good first 20 minutes and then faded (until the second half of course)
I like the prospect of Cleverly and Anderson paired this season. Anderson's starting to look very useful, and doesn't lose confidence like Carrick.
I think the interesting thing to reflect upon when it comes to the performances of Anderson and Cleverley is that they both did well tonight in the same role.
Anderson was very good playing the deeper midfield role and carrying the ball forward and likewise when he was subbed off and Cleverley moved into that space and started to receive the ball a little closer to our defence thats when he came alive. Up until that point Cleverley had been a little peripheral, tidy but not able to really get onto the ball.
They both seem to like to come looking for the ball which potentially is a good thing. It might mean we start playing more intricate little triangles in midfield with Cleverley and Ando acting as our (not quite so good) answer to Iniesta and Xavi. Alternatively, it might mean that they compete for space and are subsequently ill suited to playing together.
Agreed. His weakness is his passing. The weight of his passing. He needs to improve and be more consistant.
His weakness is not his passing. His weakness is his inconsistency which he's already improved massively last season but still has to work on. In fact the killer ball is a strength of his but the above inconsistency leads to it being at times hit and miss like all players who are seeking consistency. He's gotten far better at it and hopefully continues to do so.
thought he was brilliant today. Full of energy, direct and made some great passes. Really looks up for the season.

Great performance.His stamina (as he started to show last season) have improved tremendously.He kept fighting and like Cleverley made simple but intelligent passes during the entire game
Agree! It will be interesting to see his stats from this game.
For all the stick he gets about his passing, he does one touch passing and move as well as anyone at the club.
I love it when he doesn't try too many hollywood passes because his game automatically becomes more consistent and he gets more confidence
I still can't believe some rate(d) Gibson as better than Anderson... Anderson really looked the part today, played with energy, won the ball and made some great runs, mixed long and short passes.
Picked up where he left off at the end of last season. Said it before, said it again: from his man of the match performance against Everton in the run in Anderson was awesome barring the Arsenal away game and he's carried that form into this season it looks like. Some of his passing today was sublime, short or long, strong in the middle Toure, De Jong, Milner and Barry had no answer for him. Ando and Cleverley could be 'the answer'.

He was excellent in the second half today...Not sure if was not playing alongside Carrick or just the fact we had to go for the game but he looked liberated and played like that position belonged to him.

I'd love a gif of that bit of skill towards the end where he was sandwiched between two City players and he flicked it over one of them (I think) and got out of trouble. It was class.

had a great game today, and his stamina seems to have held well ! Usually he flags really bad at around the hour mark, today he was like the duracell bunny

He didn't waste possession or run down blind alleys like he has in the past.
Instead his best attributes were all on display today, the ability to split the defense with an incisive pass, the ability to carry the ball past defenders, strength on the ball, defensive tenacity, and there was even a bit of Brazilian magic with the flick to himself.

played pretty well today. a better second half than first (but you can say that for almost everyone).
I thought he was our standout player across the 90 minutes, Cleverley and Jones were superb in their 45 minute cameos and showed great promise for the coming season(s), Nani had some eye-catching moments, but Anderson dictated things in the midfield for a large part of the game(City's 10 minute spell before half time being the only period where they got a foothold)and was probably our most consistent performer out there today which is not something he's managed often in the past despite his ability and my often stated undying faith in him.
If he can continue putting in performances like today more often than not, and Cleverley can build on the promise he showed at Wigan and in today's game, I think our worries in CM will be no more. The solutions to resolve that particular area of the team are definately within the club IMO, that potential just has to be fulfilled.

We were excellent in the first half too. Last 5 minutes aside. Amazing the way late goals distort perceptions.
His fitness is significantly improved. He made some spectacular passes today.
Plays better with somebody dynamic next to him in a 2 man midfield. It worked with Hargreaves and it worked today with Cleverley.

If he keeps this up he's stepped up just in time. Then again that always seems to happen when we lose big profiles. Seems to confuse those who begrudge us our success

OK, we might have been a little more dynamic in our forward play during the 2nd half but I couldn't fault our performance in the 1st or 2nd half today. We bossed the game for at least 70, closer to 80 minutes of that game today. Our midfield is often criticised for failing to control games, yet when it does so comprehensively against a much more physically strong midfield as it did in the first half without scoring but then concedeing a sucker punch, it goes unnoticed or even more bemusingly, criticised. Either expectations of performance are unreasonably high among some United fans or memories are awfully short...

Indeed, we were all raving about him in the pub during the first half, he was brilliant today.
