Anderson

Looked awful. But we all know how good he can be and how well he played earlier this season. Lets not give up on him after a couple of dodgy games

Horrific at times tonight but he knew that when he was subbed and for the last 10 mins he was on the pitch his confidence looked shot. He'll be back though.

Horrible today. I don't understand how his level can fall so drastically. Some of those misplaced passes were not even close.

He was a waste of space tonight and he has been for a good while now.

I've always hoped Anderson would step up and I would be delighted if he does, but I wouldn't be shocked if he was gone next season.

Very poor and lazy with his passing. Jogged around and looked half-arsed. I'm a bit of a fan of his and love watching him when he's playing well, but tonight he was awful. Must improve for the next match.

All those who believe he should be an AM: do you honestly think he's equipped to do that?

His shooting is awful, he had a hot streak recently but his finishing is poor as well and the weighing of his passes is, well, random - and I'm trying to be kind here. The amount of time he overhits through balls or simple passes in the final third is simply stunning.

His best attributes are his pace and his ability to run with the ball. Both can be utilized better from a deeper position.

Unfortunately I've felt the same and for a long while with brief interludes of hope when he has performed well in some games.

Woefully sloppy tonight. He may keep his place for the time being because our midfield is decimated. Otherwise he would have been seeing the bench until he sorts out his consistency.

We all know he can do better.

Dogshit tonight, I'd drop him for Saturday (not sure we have that luxury though) and give him a giant kick up the hole.

Seriously needs to buck his ideas up.

Was worse than bad tonight, and what the worst thing was, was the apparent lack of interest.

That's what bothered me most. I can accept somebody trying hard and having a bad day (Hernandez wasn't at his best but he kept making the runs and trying to play others in), but he just seemed so half-arsed. He barely jogged anywhere, let alone ran. Just walked about, not demanding the ball. Very poor attitude tonight.

He could be gone next season as he's become very frustrating but that would leave us with only three senior midfielders in Carrick, Fletcher and Cleverley unless Giggs stays one more season which I doubt. We will have to promote one of the youngsters or use Jones or Rooney in midfield more frequently.

I see you've also ruled out the chance of us actually signing midfielders

I've been his staunch supporter here but he was horrible tonight.

Not only passes going awry when there were easier passes on, but he didn't make the attempt to stay close to Rooney or make himself available for Rooney or many times other members of the team. Poor performance and looked shot of confidence which I think is unfortunate.

He needs his confidence back - because without it he is a ghost of the player he can be.

Unless Fletcher is injured, I think he will get dropped for Saturday. That or I'd give Pogba a shot.

There is no way we are going to sign anyone for that area. It must be a project when you consider how many midfielders who would strengthen us have moved to new clubs over the last few years.

Thing is, whenever Anderson performs poorly we start saying things like "he needs to get his confidence back". Seriously, he must have the most fragile confidence in the entire footballing world.

gives the ball away so often it's infuriating...plus today it seemed he was playing further forward then Rooney and doing less work defensively which is shocking considering his partner is a full time striker.

It's got to the point where I half expect him to have his one good game which gets everybody excited about the 'potential world class' player we have, only to follow it up with about 10 very mediocre performances.

I don't it was a confidence issue before this game, it was just the inconsistency issue that has blighted much of his United career. However looking at his body language for the last 5-10 mins he was on the pitch as well as his body language coming off, any confidence he did have vanished with this performance tonight. The international break couldn't come at a better time for him.

I agree.

Thing is many footballers are like that.

Even Rooney is like that. He'll be shot of confidence and go 15 games without a goal and stuff.

Not the only one!

Sadly, I think he just doesn't have enough footballing intelligence. He's been offered a proper chance this year, so if he doesn't start delivering, we should look elsewhere.

Sorry but don't buy that he doesn't have enough footballing intelligence. He has plenty of it and has demonstrated that in patches.

Problem is SAF and Anderson can't work out how best to get Anderson to work on a consistent basis. The best we saw of Anderson was with Cleverley but as many posters have pointed out it isn't good enough to only play well with one partner.

Even then, we were as open as a drunk highschool girl ending up in bed with George Clooney in midfield.

Slowly but surely I'm beginning to lose faith that he'll ever be a top class starting choice for us.

The improvement when Park - a winger in his 30s - replaced him was as astonishing as it was depressing. The crowd really let him know it too. Won't do his confidence much good but you really can't blame them.

Not to worry, though. It's all Rooney's fault. Start Cleverley and Anderson will be a world-beater again. Apparently.

He'll go on to have a very good and long career at this club but he'll never nail a starting spot long term. He's too hot and cold.

Tonight was about as bad as it gets. When he's not on form he's an utter liability in a midfield two as he leaves his partner constantly on the back foot by giving away the ball and not tracking runners.

He'll get better.

Yep.

Apparently our team only looks good when Cleverley plays. Sorry to say it, but that's a hell of an indictment against them and, perhaps, our transfer policy.

meh kleberson part 2 then judging from the reaction here.

The two of them together should never be allowed in CM. Rooney/Ando..

He wasn't THAT bad in the first half. I felt he was almost okay but my expectations are quite low of course.

The second half was the real disaster from him.

We should've got this bloke instead.

He's got mad skillz.

But he did start delivering. And then he stopped again. His form is utterly baffling. A month ago we were all singing his praises saying he'd finally kicked on, then we're back to him being useless again. He's like a footballing Jeckyll and Hyde.
