It's obvious now it has nothing to do with recent performances. Something is going on behind the scenes.
Rashford had been on the bench for awhile but it seems that they've swapped places.

Personally I think Mourinho's gone a bit overboard in sending his message to Martial, but part of it is probably wanting to see if Martial's agent can go a few matches without having a moan when he's not selected.
And there's no way of knowing that he is. So what's the point in arguing about it? It's all guesswork. For all we know Martial may have told Mourinho to feck off, or turned up to training pissed. We have no idea. It's disgraceful how some people are so quick to turn on the manager without having a clue what his reasoning for dropping Martial is.
Those who were laughing at moaners in match day thread,one day you might not find it so funny. My point of view,i dont see Martial totally 100% guild free but after all its JM,so no surprise there,dunno why many act all surprised now. If situation is JM vs Martial,question is only how long JM will stay with us and whats better for our future.
Jose must not see him as a winger and he's obviously not going to drop Zlatan who actually scores goals and is joint for most goals in the league. Whatever the issue, I trust Jose even if I disagree with his methods. Martial does seem to be a sulk. Maybe he's depressed. Maybe he doesn't train 100%. If the later I can't blame Jose for not playing him.
Rashford is great coming off the bench or even playing up top but he's a pretty hopeless starter from the left wing. I just can't understand what's going on. Just sort it out blood hell.
Which, as with anybody, is subject to debate. Jose has been tremendously successful, but he's not infallible and, inevitably, he's gotten it wrong a fair few times.

As we chatted the other day there is no evidence of an attitude problem in the past for Martial and to bring on Young.... who has no long term future at the club is a clear message (in my opinion)

Yes, I'd much rather he manage us for 25 years before daring to make any managerial decisions.
We all know contracts are pretty meaningless though if the player wants out they will get out! But yea you are right Mourinho wouldn't sell to a direct rival.
Because we have a game plan to follow, you put in someone to affect the match to execute a strategy not just to give someone time to "get into form".
And the reality is that we just know what we see during the matches, and bringing Fellaini and Young ahead of one of the brightest talents around is just utterly stupid. If he is so shit on training why did he play him in the cup then? We always talk about other top teams and these kind of things are exactly what happens here all the time and would never happen at other top teams. At this point there is really no point bringing Young at all. Or even Fellaini at this result. And not just ahead of Martial either.
I am yet to see a young player who has become one of the worlds best by sitting on the bench instead of playing, that must be one of the most stupid methods how to improve player I've seen. Just because our manager does something because of his personal reasons doesn't mean we always must defend it. Especially if it ruins our chances in games, because we would obviously be better with him in the team ahead of some players.
Oh .... since it's clear to you, you must have info on what's going on behind the scenes, his attitude, his performances in training etc. Fire those details on like a good man.
Mourinho needs to realise that Martial has done more for our club then he has and was one of our only mentally strong players last season. Subbing on Young ahead of him is petty.
JM is simply trying to exert control on a young player. I love martial but as a coach you have to ensure allegiance from your players even though this carries some risk. They will either be willing to kill for you or will walk. The risk of not doing anything is them spiraling out of control too young too soon. I just hope JM is smart enough to take his foot off the gas when close to the edge of the cliff.
Its entirely his perrogative and business as manager to make these decisions. He makes decisions for the greater good of the team, not based on who his favorite pet player of the moment is.

As I said before, something is going on behind the scenes and one day it will all come out. Perhaps it will end well, but feck me, Ferguson made some pretty big decisions that the fans didn't like with certain players, that is for sure.....we just have to wait and see what happens. Martial is not a Cantona..that is for sure!
I wouldn't say Rashford has been aweful as a left winger but he's the best we have for that position if Martial isn't going to play. I'd rather have Rashford there than shift Mkhitaryan just to fit Mata on the right. They all move around quite a bit when we play with Rashford, Mata, Mkhi. Not so much with Martial who tends to stay on the left more.
I said before the Wigan game that either Jose is trying to light a fire under martial or he's laying the foundations to get rid of him. After the hull game and today I'm leaning towards the getting rid scenario unfortunately. I'm not happy about it in the slightest. I'm sure signing griezzman (hopefully) may soften the blow but it's looking bleak. Jose was already prepared to let young go and so in reality shouldn't even be playing him unless it was a last resort and yet he lets martial stay on the bench knowing full well it will cause attention from the media and the fans. Unbelievable.

At this point Martial is getting worse treatment than Mkhitaryan did. Don't forget, Mkhi was injured quite a bit early on and Mourinho also wanted to ease him into the side.

Except playing Rashford out of position or bringing Fellaini or even Young ahead of him isn't better for the team at all. It's just Mourinho being Mourinho. By yeah let's believe everything Mourinho does is great.

I don't think something like that is really going on tbh. Martial will get more starts in the future no doubt. There just wasn't any reason to put him on when we're winning. I'm sure he would have come in had it still been 0-0.

I admire Pep for dropping Aguero and playing Sane, Sterling and Jesus, and it's paying off for them. Jose clearly does not have the same qualities when it comes to young players, and it's for this reason I dont think he'll be a long term manager with us. I have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, but if Martial is trying to be bigger than the manager or the club, not working hard in training or not doing what he is instructed during the matches that he has played, then I support Mou in benching him. I hate how some of the kids, with all the money and fame in the world, think they deserve special treatment. He needs to put his head down and train hard to regain favor. His talent is undeniable.
That's his prerogative. Not every tactic is a successful one, but the manager always knows better than random punters on the internet.
Or he could be a making a point about how professional players who work hard will get a chance. Martial knows the challenge and it's up to him to respond, if he's agitating to leave at the first sign of struggle I don't think he's got the right attitude to be a United player.
