38 goals and assists for a low scoring Atletico team. They would be completely hopeless without him this season. He's scored over 1/3rd of their goals.
 
I must confess I'm still butthurt he chose to stay last year, but watching him play I think he would fit very nicely for us, in a couple of positions that is.

I get the feeling of Barca had gone for him last summer, he would have gone regardless of any transfer ban.
 
I’m not at all convinced he ”chose” to stay, I think our plan was to play him with Ibrahimovic and that he would be our big marquee signing last Summer.

Zlatan’s injury completely changed Mourinho’s transfer plans and the big money had to be spent on replacing him instead.

How is it obvious he does not want to come here when he specifically said coming to the club is a realistic possibility?

Add to this that his release clause halved in price after the January transfer window which falls in line with Atletico Madrid's transfer ban being lifted.

Griezmann wants to move to a bigger club, whether that United or Barca.

We leaked the 'change of plan' story literally the same day Atletico's transfer ban was confirmed and Griezmann came out saying that he was staying to not leave them in the lurch.

Believe what you want, but given that Zlatan's injury happened about two months before that it seems ludicrously implausible that we suddenly happened to realise we didn't want Griezmann on the same day the transfer ban happened.
 
Think Alexis Sanchez has put paid to Griezmann turning up.

Mind you I was thinking if Pep was Man. United manager he'd probably still sign him and have Greizmann, Alexis and one of Martial/Rashford as fluid and interchangable front three.

Lukaku rooted to the bench or sold.

The change of plan was obvious to me, Mourinho was always going to buy a big name target man once Zlatan was injured, that’s his go to purchase at any club & the most essential part of all of his teams.
The big money was gonna go elsewhere until the big man did his knee.

He was awesome. Still think he's a cnut for snubbing us last season.
 
He's a great player. I thought it was funny that so many here dismissed him. He's versatile can play left, right, central and is a handful. Perfect for a counter attacking team because of his intelligence, movement, tactical discipline and obvious class. It's an added bonus that he's a great scorer and a scorer of great goals too.

I'd love him to stay at Atletico or go to us. I'd hate him to be anywhere else.
 
He will join Barcelona next season it seems anyway.

He must have had a worldly second half. I switched off soon after the first goal.

It finished 1-0 was expecting a hat-trick or something along those lines.

Always thought he was the best link up man and that class, control in making something happen or coming up with the finish. I am confident that those crappy games we dropped points would have been far more positive with him in a red shirt.

I dont see it. I can see him in a United shirt to fill that number 10. He'd fit in well with Pogba, Lingard and their dancing craze club.

I'm lost too and I watched the full 90!
I think we need a little playmaker that can play that cute pass, a Silva type more than Griezmann.
Some kind of midfielder / 10 hybrid.

He didn't. Griez was fine today, but I don't get the raving after this particular game. Showed some nice touches, but in no way did he grab the game and solidify Atletico's stranglehold on the tie. Should have done better with a clear chance in the 2d half, too. Wouldn't mind him here, but I don't think he's a game changer so much as an excellent complement to a team's attack.

I think the way we set up and when drop deep he would be an excellent signing and he'd add a huge goal threat. Him and Sanchez constantly pressing and how good both are down the wings and through the middle gives us a great dimension and versatility.

We'd still have room for a playmaker in a midfield three but I'd take Griezmann over a playmaker at the moment if it was a choice of one or the other.

But then you have Pogba in a 2 again unless you play Griezmann out wide in big games which gives us balance issues?
If we were set up for the 3 at the back that Jose seemingly wanted last summer I could see Antoine as the answer but not in this set up.
We are being linked with Fred and SMS for a reason IMO. I doubt we'll even make a forward signing since we are already stacked and would take away an attacking position with the extra midfielder.
Sign Antoine, keep Rashford / Martial happy and get the best out of Pogba?

With the way Lukaku likes to come out right and Sanchez can cover left right or center (like Griezmann) that would make us incredibly dangerous and unpredictable for the opposition.

Griezmann is class but I don't want him here. Enough of signing world class players to struggle about their position and unbalancing the team.

Griezmann in at his best as a second striker, so we'll need to play 4-4-2, guess what, Pogba needs to play in 4-3-3. That means one of them will be underperforming due to playing out of position. No thanks.

You don't win by having the most number of world class players but by having the most balanced 11 on the pitch. We should focus on getting a good right forward instead of paying shite load for Griezmann and playing him out of his position.

He is such a clever player. Always finding little pockets of space and always a threat on the break. But he isn't what we need. Griezmann performs at his best when he's deployed centrally and has a target man to play off. Either Giroud at France or Costa at Atletico. What we need is a tricky wide player who can commit defenders and get balls in the box. Signing Griezmann to play on the RW would make no sense because pushing him out wide takes away a lot of his main qualities which are link up play through the middle and running off central defenders. If we signed him to play off Lukaku it means we can't play the 4-3-3 which gets the best out of Pogba. It would be a tactical conundrum and one we would be better without IMO.

Exactly. We would have the same problems Deschamps had fitting them both into the team and getting the best out of them. No thanks indeed. Great player but we should focus on our main problems which is signing proper wide players instead of more strikers. Plus there's the issue of Martial and Rashford who both want game time. Theres no way you can keep Pogba, Griezmann, Martial and Rashford all happy. How many more strikers do we need?
 
Can he play at the tip of a diamond at a high level? If he or Sanchez can, I'd be in for him again.
 
Why don't we play him where Lingard plays.
Lingard seems to have a free role, running around, attacking the space, pressing.
Griezmann can do all that but at a higher level.
But he is Barca bound, so no use discussing it

He's a great player but he's not what we need right now. At Barca he'd fit in better as Messi, Coutinho and Demeble are all great players that can play wide, Griezmann would be competing with Suarez down the middle. What we really need is some quality wide players and quality full backs first.
 
Him leaving for Barcelona would be Durantesque.

He's incredible, Atletico are good enough to challenge for the league and CL and next year's CL final is at their stadium. It would be bad for spanish football.
