But we offer global appeal because you can throw in romance, tragedy, great pay, massive PR.....we have a lot of things in our history...players especially from times long gone.....which make us a completely different attraction. The opportunities for not needing to chase money (as Ferguson said) are there in abundance......That's why I cannot fathom Atletico, a well run and highly successful club really being ranked near United. There is still a vast gulf in so many other areas......

Again this isn't about United, you are arguing alone here. He suggested that Atletico weren't an elite club and that's the disagreement, if you want to put United above them based on the criteria that you exposed it's fine, but it doesn't make Atletico not an elite club in 2018.

More likely it would have to be 4-4-2 formation but even then someone would have to make way. All the midfielders including Willian would have to be hard working and very disciplined.

Width coming from fullbacks. Atletico have four hardworking midfielders and off the ball sit back with two banks of four. This is probably the only way he could fit in and even Sanchez wouldn't get in because we need to have Pogba with two midfielders behind. Well, Atletico didn't pop up out of nowhere, their most successful period was before Gil's tenure, Gil's tenure wasn't successful and has very little place in their current success which has been built around Simeone, their academy and Mendes, the stadium is indeed sponsored by Dalian Wanda who bought 20% of the club in 2015 but no club will finance a stadium without outside help. There are numerous donations in the history of clubs like Manchester United, the initial construction of Old Trafford being an example.
