Seriously peeved about this. Antonio's been virtually unstoppable down that flank recently.

A 50/50 ball in their third, Valencia won't it putting Hernandez through in the build up for the second goal.

Oh yeah.. he did have to stretch for the ball when he played it on. Didn't realise he fecked his hamstring, probably because of the goal.

Argh! Guess the silver lining is that Nani and Young are both fit. If they stay that way I reckon we'll be fine.

Wait, there are friendlies coming up... What are the odds that he wont play but will be back for the League games?

Non existent. Its a hammy. Can easily become worse if we rush him back.

To be honest I complety missed the Valencia injury, when did it happen?
I think it happened just before Hernandez scored (when Valencia passed him the ball, before he passed it to Rooney, who got an assist).

Welbeck substitution was already prepared, and after Hernandez's goal we could see Ferguson telling Valencia to come off.

The problem with Nani though is that he can struggle to get back to top form after injuries, as we saw last year. Valencia is a really big, big loss. Our most consistent player bar Carrick this year.

Terrible news as he has been brilliant for us recently. Young and Nani will have to step it up.

He'll have another 3 games under his belt by the time we go to WHL and he wasn't out for that long. He'll be fine, we'll be fine.

I hope so. We need him to be. Unstoppable when he's at his best, which unfortunately hasn't been enough this season.

Surely someone has to wonder about our training methods and facilities considering our bad luck with injuries this past few years?

Everybody whines like a bitch about our injuries, and then as soon as somebody says this they usually get crucified. But it's true, the medical staff/training methods are in place to minimise injuries and give the best possible recovery. As of right now, that's not happening. There is no shame in saying we need to look at that.

What if Valencia had to play to many games because there was no appropriate cover him? The player who could fill in - Nani- got a knock (nothing to do with training regime, just bad luck).

IMO it's a simple mechanism - our players get knocks, tears to ligament etc ei injuries that come from the competitive side of the game. Then other players are overused to compensate for these losses and this where muscle injuries step in. Really, it's a snow ball effect.

In the recent Fergie interview, he was asked about how things have changed in terms of coaching since he first started. He said that when he came to United he had a staff of 8 people, including the physio. Now there are like 10 sports scientists.

I doubt it's the lack of having a competent medical staff that we are having these injury problems. Fletcher getting a rare disease, Vida tearing 3 parts of his knee, Nani getting scythed down, Jones turning his ankle the way he did and now Tony V. with his hammy - none except maybe mildly the last one you can attribute to poor medical staff.

Out for four weeks, but it's not easy with injuries at Manchester United...

Days after the injury - our opponent:

7 - Ajax A
10 - Norwich A
17 - Tottenham A
21 - Bilbao/Lokomitv H
23/24 - West Brom H
28 - Bilbao/Lokomotiv A
31 - Wolverhampton A

Tottenham is the only game we'll miss him in.

Would've enjoyed seeing him take Assou-Ekotto apart.

Nani always performs well against Spurs so maybe it won't be that big of a loss. It would have been nice to have Nani and Valencia on the wings for that game though.

Tony V is a big loss due to his current form, but I think Nani plays his best football on the right, so having him there and Young on the left will more than suffice. I just hope they both find form quickly!

Giggs on the left is still pretty good if we look at the Liverpool game

Yes but look at our list of injuries within the last two or three years compared to Citehs, a club with an equal size squad, equal or less matches played over the same period, just as impressive facilities etc not to mention a team within the same city and subject to the same weather conditions. Theres nothing wrong with suggesting something might need tweaking with our training methods!

I don't know how you train for being tackled from behind as you break away or your knee ends up in an awkward position or even just slipping and landing weirdly on your ankle - if sports medicine can account for such situations then news to me. You think City's physio's would have magically kept someone in Fletcher's condition fit?

City situation seems outside the norm - I doubt it's got anything to do with their training methods when you consider most of their team has only been around in the last year or two. I don't think they have any more in the sport science department. Their players didn't just magically transform into super studs that don't get injured because they have some secret, just a little more luck.

What we do have compared to City are some players that have had a track record for breaking down - Rio, Owen, Fabio, Ando, so when you have them out on top of the normal footie injuries most clubs encounter in a season, it seems like we have more than most.
