Much better today but that's not saying much given his form up until this point. He actually looked to attack the fullback and be aggressive rather than wait for Rafael which was a nice change. Hope he finishes the season strong.

Can't believe some people are having a go at him. He played well tonight.

Good performance from him tonight, encouraging. That goal will do him the world of good and hopefully he continues like this for the remaining games.

He scored a goal and stepped up abit. One of our better players today even though there wasn't many to choose from.

really? didn't think he was bad at all and gave RvP some wonderful crosses to work with. Worked his socks off and for the only starting 11 that people questioned I think he came out looking good.

Did you misread my post? I was saying he played well!

Had a pretty good first time cross to RVP for the chance he missed. Also had atleast 3/4 dangerous crosses.

Was a good outlet today and ran the line well with more positive intent.

Where was he good? People seem to be happy with a half decent winger performance

By his last season's form, he wasnt good but by his standards this season, that was one of his better performances. He did have more emphasis going forward.

Much better but he still can't cross...well he can either drill or fire the ball but that is it!!!

Well he wasn't bad, what do you expect people to say. No one is fooled, but we can not criticize him for EVER game he plays and doesn't play like Nani on form.

Much better tonight he looked a lot faster on the ball, the goal will help hopefully he gets a nice boost now until the end of the season

Decent from him tonight. Must've played in 3 or 4 decent balls, attacked the back post for once and was willing to take people on.

One of few attacking sparks tonight. RVP and Rooney's quietness weren't helpful on what was probably Valencia's best performance of the year.

Of course, it wasn't his best ever but as long as he's getting better it shows that he's not lost it completely.

Of course he can cross. Put two on a plate for Van Persie tonight.

No. He really can't cross.. Lets be honest. He has a weird chip type floating technique which is really annoying and i can image hard to generate the power needed for a great header.

:wenger:

He tries different type of crosses. And his crossing wasn't bad today at all.

What i dont get is: He swung one in very very well today. So he's actually able to do that. Then I ask myself why the freaking feck did he try to chip them in 90% of the time this season? They are awful!
Lack of confidence really is the only answer and he seems to get it back now, which is a bit late tbh but better than never :)

Today he put in some curlers which was refreshing to see.. but usually he's a really bad crosser of the ball. We need to realise that was a decent performance for a United winger... a club like Manchester United demands top notch world class wingplay. If he consistently put in performances like he done today, i wouldn't mind him staying as a squad player.

He was half decent tonight.

By his shit standards this season, he was excellent.

No he doesn't he has one type of cross.. I've seen it enough times don't try it.

I wouldn't mind if it was useful however its not.

Plus I think as soon as people see his name on the sheet ahead of certain other players they automatically want him to play shit and pick on the bad aspects of his game far more so that they can continue to complain about why he was picked ahead of the other player.

I thought he was fine tonight, if you look at the performance overall of the team it was probably one of the better performances, if anything.

Same thing was happening with Giggs earlier in the season. People struggle to let go of an opinion.

Bit of a strange evening to be making that point after he just put two out-swinging curlers on to a plate for Van Persie.

His preference is usually to use his laced to smack the ball across the box or side foot a driven pass towards one of our strikers but he's quite capable of hitting a more conventional cross.

If anything, he hits the biggest variety of crosses but yeah, he really can't cross... :wenger:

For the record, Nani is a better crosser of the ball IMO but that's no slight on Valencia.

I also thought he was relatively decent, it doesn't help that our singular tactic still seems to be give the ball to Valencia all game long when he has been out of form for the past year.

If he had a shot with his left foot and scored would he have a great left foot too? No offense but if every cross he put in was bad i would really reallyyy start to get worried as him as a profession pretending to be a winger. Just saying.

He preference is as you said plus the chip cross, stop acting like he doesn't do it often, either of what he does is really effective and the smash cross to me isn't really a cross more hit and miss, your not aiming for anyone with it and its hard for the striker to judge.

I thought he was better tonight. Not near to his best yet, but much improved from earlier in the year. I wouldn't sell him we'd be crazy to. A very good squad player to have.
