my team for saturday- saha out because he cup tied, we perform well as 4-4-2, especially with scholes in central midfield, as it was demonstrated in sunday with arsenal in the last 30 minutes

------------------------caroll--------------------------

g-nevil-------brown-----------silvestre----------o'shea

ronaldo-------scholes----------keane--------giggs

-----------------ole solkshar----------------------

--------------------------------van nistelrooy

ole can also drift in and out, on the right wing

This is United's only shot at silverware this season. Must play the current best XI.

----------Tim-----------
Gaz--Wes--Micky--O'Shea
----Djemba--Keane-----
Ole----Scholes----Giggs
--------Ruud----------

Bench: Carroll, Phil, Fletcher, Ronaldo, Bellion (Bellion for speed and attacking)

I was thinking of a 4-4-2 with Ole partnering Ruud, Ronaldo on the right, leaving Djemba on the bench. However, I think the first half United will need to contain Arsenal's midfield, hence Ronaldo on the bench and Djemba partnering Keane. Then in the second half, go for the win. Bring Ron on for Djemba (or Giggs if he's struggling) at 60mins and move Ole up front with Ruud. Go 4-4-2 with Scholes dropping deeper. Ronaldo's fresh legs could produce magic in the second half. In the final 15 minutes if United need a goal to draw or win, send on Bellion.

Another (ill-fated) thought would be to not start Scholes (Djemba-Keane), and go 4-4-2 with Ron on the right and Ole up front. Would be a risky move, but Scholes could come on in the 2nd half for Djemba, Ole, or Ronaldo.

Agree with the line-up although I think Carroll will start. Bring in Ronaldo in the second half

I agree with this, although I also think that Carroll will start. Perhaps Kleb on the bench rather than Fletch.

What's up with P. Neville? An injury? I think he should play rather than Gary.

I once heard about how we played 5 in the midfield and totally dominated Arsenal from somewhere (the other Arse game thread...I think). I say we do that, or for the hell of it, put 6 players in the midfield. Half would be defending, half attacking. And have a gung-ho attitude (like CM).

--------------Carroll--------------- ---Fergie---
---Phil---Wes---Micky---OShea----
Ole--Fletch--Keano--Scholes--Giggs
---------------Ruud---------------

Gary neville is our most experienced RB, so why should phil play instead of him??.
Ole to start and Ronaldo to cause havoc in the second half!!.

Viera, Oah Ohh
Viera, Oah Ohh
He gave Giggsy the ball

Too right.. jesus.. how many chances do Arsenal need to prove they can never f**king beat us?! Is it five in a row now that they've failed? Crap bastards. I don't want any four eyes telling me not to eat their precious chocolate digestives and that Arsenal are the better club. Go get a life..

'Cause all Gary does in our offense is to kick the ball as hard as he can, with a few exceptions though. Let's give Phil a chance. (What's up with him anyways?)

feckin hell, Ruud might be injured.

If he is, then this lineup:

--------------------Carroll---------------------
Gary Nev-----Wes Brown-----Mickey-----O'Shea
------------Djembax2------Keano--------------
Ronaldo------------Scholes---------------Giggs
--------------Ole Gunnar Solksjaer------------

If not then Ruud for Solksjaer and Solksjaer for Ronaldo

My lineup:

------------------------Caroll--------------------------

Gaz N-------Brown-----------Silvestre---------o'Shea---

Ole-------Scholes----------Keane-------------Ronaldo---

---------------------------Giggs------------------------

-----------------Ruud-----------------------------------

I think this is our best team without Saha who looked really good against them last week. This also provides variation with Giggs going to left Ronnie to right and Ole up front if things aren't going as planned. It also packs the midfield to give the arse midfield no time on the ball which they like.

What do you think?

----------Tim-----------
Gaz--Wes--Mick--O'Shea
----Djemba--Keane-----
Ronaldo----Scholes----Giggs
--------Saha----------

Subs: Ruud, Carroll, Fletcher, Bellion, Phil Neville

Similar tactics as last week, contain Arsenal's midfield - frustrate their passing game.

Saha's cup tied

Carroll - Gaz Silvestre Wes Johnno - Ole Keano Eric Scholes Giggs - Ruud

:)

hahaha

Why Carroll all of a sudden?

Timmy's done nothing wrong as far as I can see. For him to work his nuts off all season just to be replaced by Carroll? If that happens, there must be something going on.

The team:

------------Tim (delux) Howard----------

Gary--------Wes------Micky--------John

Ole--------Fletch----Keane-------Giggs

--------------Scholes------------------
------------------------Ruud-----------

Djemba disapeared last weekend, Ruud was dropping too deep to pick the ball up, so i reckon something with Fletch Ole and Butty - this is what I'd like to see though, no doubt the boss will have other ideas, but what does he know eh?

Four matches if you include the community shield...all of which ending in draws at 90 minutes. The last time you beat us in a competitive match was 18 moths or so ago at OT in the league....since then we beat you at OT in the cup which led to Fergie's flying boot to Becks' head.

Don't worry, your time will come saturday.........

i'll admit it...i'm chickening out of this one :nervous: a 4am start and $20 train fare will be salt in the wound if we lose!

i can't watch!

COME ON UNITED!!!

Mountain time, eh? I think I might make it.

carrol

G'neville Wes Silvstre JO'shea

keane

Butt Scholes

Ole Giggs

RVN

----------Caroll------------
Gaz----Wes--Mick-----Oshea
-----Phil------Keane------
--------Scholes-------
--OGS----------Giggs-----
--------RVN-------------

There is a possibility RVN may be unfit and I'll pull in Ronaldo to play on the right and OGS upfront. Forlan should be jet-lagged and Bellion is too huge of a risk. Don't mind Bellion coming in late into the game or when we are behind.

Cmon DEVILS

If Ruud is unfit Fergie should start Ole up front and Ronaldo on the right, pls,pls No Forlan Fergie!!.

Will be a great match. Can't help but think that Wenger will rest some of our bigger players, out of the 3 competitions we are in this one is no way as important as the other 2. But man utd are no pushovers so will need a strong team out.

Not as important, but you have a 7-point advantage in the league while one defeat will kill your FA Cup tie campaiqn. I actually think Henry will not start (but be on the bench). The rest of the team will be your strongest, which rather picks itself up.

------------------------------Carrol---------------------------------

--G Neville----------Brown-------------Tweety--------------O Shea--

---OGS--------------Keane-------------DJ-DJ----------------Giggs---

------------------------------Scholes-------------------------------

-------------------------------RVN----------------------------------

Subs: Ronaldo on for a tiring OGS & Butt for Scholes in the 85 min to waste a few minutes when we are 2-1 up

(OGS 21min, Ljunberg 50min & RVN 74min)

This is exactly how we should line up providing Ruud is out.

Yep, should make it to the 5AM kickoff...too important of a game... :boring:

Cool. :)

But a 5 AM kickoff means I have to leave at 4, which means up by... 3:30! Hope I don't :boring: during the match (or the drive!).

I wouldn't keep your hopes up on Ruud Van Ilikegrassinpenaltyareasespeciallyfordiving (:P), there would've been some news on him being alright if he was.

Just to give you a glimmer of hope... we have many players injured or not to full fitness.

My Arsenal (just to give you an idea of the opposition) is:

Lehmann

Lauren Kolo Campbell Clichy

Freddie Parlour Edu Pires

Bergkamp Reyes

Subs: Stack; Keown; Wiltord; Bentley; Kanu

Looks innocent, doesn't it? Mwahahahaha!
