Arsenal are a shambles

He is single handedly tarnishing his own legacy and ruining Arsenal. He gets rewarded by the board for performing average every season.

Still find it bizarre they didn't get rid of Wenger at the end of last season.

Or the season before that. Or the season before that. Or the season before that. Or the season before that.

I find it’s easier not to ask ‘why’ with Arsenal anymore. They’re irrelevant.

Just gets worse. They are in crisis and as said, their best players want to leave, they are playing UEFA and Spurs are miles ahead of them. Can it get any worse than losing 4-0 to one of your rivals???

0 attempts on target.

Aye it's an overreaction.

You'd think Arsenal were Everton or something. This reminds me so much of Moyes dragging United down.

Arsenal have systemic problems. I don't think it's an overreaction at all.

They are a shocking side for the amount of money and huge resources at their disposal.

Arsenal shouldn't be getting outclassed by Liverpool.

Agree with the first part. I imagine their board saw what happened to us after Fergie left and thought that persisting with Wenger was a better option. I think they've explored installing a DoF in the last two summers, which Arsene quickly shot down. After Wenger goes this season, they'll really need to find a DoF who can guide them. If they do what we tried to do and find a manager who can step in for Arsene with minimal transition of responsibilities, they'll be in for years of pain.

And water is wet. Nothing new. They have been crap since sir alex killed them in champions league semi final. They have got bunch of average players with zero passion.

Arsenal remind me of when we are playing five aside football. No tactics or anything. Just players playing where they want. So Wenger just picks the team and thats it. No pep talk, no tactics. Just go out and try and score.

Arsenal got rammed harder than a prostitute in a colombian prison

The problem, it happens once or twice a season, so you can't even say it's a one off

I was thinking which was worse...the Moyes/van Gaal years or Arsenal's last three years??? It really is a tough one to call. I could almost cry for the Gooners.....almost!

That lineup is atrocious, Welbeck ahead of Lacazette? Bellerin LWB when Kolasinac is on the bench? Wenger is just giving ArsenalFamTv more fuel

It's been evident for years and years. Arsenal were outstanding when they had Vierra or someone like him in midfield. That and a proper hardman defender is all that has kept them from winning more and probably dominating. Wenger has just refused to buy someone like that for over 10 years and it's cost him, the team and the fans, but it has been a source of amusement for everyone else and given a sense of relief to everyone too. Arsenal have fantastic attacking players and look beautiful at times, but you can have all the creativity in the world, if you have nobody to clean up and do the hard work then you will never win anything.

Quite why Wenger has never done anything about it is probably the biggest wonder? Stubborn beyond stupidity I suppose. He must be able to see the problem? everyone else has been seeing it and saying it for a decade now. The longer it goes on the better though, although i'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the rivalry between the clubs. They were definitely the greatest opponents and biggest threat to United and held some of my favourite (and worst) grudge matches over my life of watching United.

On the pitch they look lost. No desire, no hunger, no passion.

A bunch of pretty boys more worried about their next Instagram post.

Their two most valuable players want to leave and will leave on a free next season. The Ox won't sign a mega contract. Mustafi is linked with leaving.

What is going on?
Desire and passion have nothing to do with it. It's a team that is not good enough with a manager not capable enough. That's it. Passion and hunger are lazy excuses, in my opinion. Look at the players. They want. There is just no plan. They have no idea what to do. They look as if they are not being coached at all. They are not lacking desire, they lack direction.

This forum doesn't half overreact. Anything other a perfect start to the season is crisis.
The OP is right...You just have to look at the Arsenal fans faces to see that they have lost all hope. The performance has been nothing short of pathetic, as we have seen time and time again the last 4 or 5 years. New season fresh start, yet everyone just sees more of the same.

May as all had that line up for the past 10 years. Fair weather club. Less than shambolic.

Erm, it's hardly overreacting when the same mistakes are being made by Wenger, the players and the board year after year after year.

Is Holding the worst centre back in the league? Atrocious defending, lackluster, slow, and he makes Smalling look like Iniesta with the ball.

It is unbelievable mis-management at Board level and from Arsene Wenger. It's not just a footballing issue with players not being up to it, its the attitude of the players and this farcical situation whereby they could lose 3/4 of their supposed talented players on a free in the next 12 months.

People will talk about Liverpool after that I am sure but you cannot play a game at the top level with that kind of naivety. They are the easiest side to play against in the entire league. At least the "lesser" sides put up two banks of five and make life hard. Arsenal don't do anything. There XI is so unbalanced. They have been crying out for a proper CM and some proper CBs for years but Wenger has done nothing to address it again.

I honestly 100% believe that most people on this forum could have done as good a job of managing Arsenal football club over the last 4/5 years as Arsene Wenger has

It's actually not funny any more. I am far from an Arsenal fan but I am actually angry on behalf of their supporters

Ozil again guy is stealing a living. little flashes here and there over a period of about 5 years does not make a great player...

Thing is, you need a team with that sort of resolve, even the 'beautiful' player. Bergkamp, Henry, Pires etc were no flowers.

The Arsenal fans had such high hopes for him as well!

It’s very simple. Arsenal have the most overrated squad in the league. Ramsey would rather score than keep his position in midfield. Xhaka can’t dictate play. Holding is young and learning but he doesn’t have that top player quality. And the rest either don’t want to be there or are shit.

Buck stops with Wenger. He’s put together a squad that isn’t good enough. As the rest of the league moves forward he would rather hold onto the past. Also what do the arsenal coaches do? Every player they have for long enough go backwards

Arsenal don't have 'beautiful' players. Wise up.

They couldn't lace some of their former players boots. It's been a long long time since Arsenal have played great football.

They have Danny Fecking Welbeck playing for them. There's no beautiful football happening with him about. They are a functional side at best, at worst they are all over the place like today.

Shades of the 8-2 Arsenal side.

Utterly gutless. Lightening fast wing backs who aren't willing to sprint back. Xhaka, Ramsey and Ozil all similarly averse to running back, and also look scared of the ball and scared of a challenge.

Holding and Monreal offer nothing as defenders.

Only points on the board due to Leicester shitting their pants on the opening night.

Xhaka is more than capable of dictating the game. He did an exceptional job at Gladbach doing exactly that. Xhaka is what happens when an extremely talented and young player is coached by a completely inept coach and has to play in a team that is simply lost.

The FA cup wins have masked how bad it has been for Arsenal and worse they have ensured Wenger remains in the job.

Worst I've even seen them play.
Xhaka and Holding were shocking. How Holding gets a game for them is beyond me.

The worse thing is their board has no ambition except to make money. Even in our bad periods at least our board tried to do something. Yes it didn't always work, but at least the ambition is there to make things better. The Arsenal fans have none of that to look forward to. I'd be depressed if I were an Arse fan.

Also, Wenger should have resigned. Imagine if it gets worse, he'll be remembered for all the wrong things..

Yes of course, good point, but you know that comes from having a true leader on the pitch. A hardman in defence and another in midfield with leadership qualities and the confidence will ripple through the team. Arsenal have some decent players, a few I would like to see at United, so they aren't a bad side, far from it. Just toothless, depressed and in a rut because of the manager and half the team wanting out.
