Arsenal v Man Utd

at worst you might be thumped

Doubt that'll happen.

So, make sure you sing your heart for Manchester, Balloonless.

I am confident about this game

We'll more likely than not not lose by more than three goals

I'm getting a bit nervous. Big weekend. Hopefully the self pitying cnuts, will do us a favour and beat Chelsea and all.

Last night I dreamt we played the game in the hall of my mum's old house...the result was inconclusive, but I ended up having to eject a load of Chelsea fans from the house, which was quite fun.

We played the 99 European Cup final in my back garden.

I've got my ticket now, for the home end.

If we score, I'm dead :nervous:

My mate wants to take me to the supporters club before the game for a few beers, not sure if I want to go or not really, would be interesting to hear what they will say.

Most of them want United to win the prem as they hate chelski

a draw i think. 2-2. we've not been defending that well and i think some of our players (vidic) are starting to show the effects of us playing such a consistent defence through the year. we will score though.

objective? pessimistic more like.

a draw would be ok but of course I'd love it we stuffed em, so I'm going for 5-2 to us.

its going to be 0-0, maybe 1-1 but it will be a very close game. I just hope that we get one over Arsenal, i hated it when they beat us at old trafford. I really hope that we kick the butts, but i just can't see it.

I like to think so. I dont think we are suited to playing the arse and dont have a physical enough backbone to deal with an on form home team at the Emirates. I'd love to be wrong. Im not being pessimistic. I havent expected us to lose a game so far this season!!

I hope the team are really up for this one, they will need to be.

Arsenal always seem to step up a gear when they play us.

Fingers crossed! :nervous:

apparently, we are in for a humiliation at the Emirates: 4 or 5 nil. primarily because:

1) our players are massively overrated; our team as well.

2) we don't play the 'best football in the land'....

3) every time a 'Rocky' movie's come out, they've beaten us....

here's the proof: http://arsenal-mania.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28106&start=210

The Arse Fans are certainly full of confidence in beating us. On top of all of above, they even dig out old match day report to analyse in details the shortcomings of our mighty Fletcher! The following really shows genuine proof of their confidence::lol:

'... have to admit, this Fletcher > Flamini has been bothering me alot, it irks me. Since I haven't had anything better to do for the last while so I decided to have a good look at Fletcher competing in a tough game to see how he performed. The only recording of a Man Utd game I've got is against us in September, and what better example. There follows a report of his contribution in the first half.

1.20: Makes a good run into the box but makes nothing of the chance as he gets closed down by Gallas. A bright start though.
7.15: Looks for Rooney down the right wing but it's a poor pass, he overhits the ball and gives possession back to us.
7.50: He makes a decent sliding tackle but fails to win back possession.
8.55: Tries a tricky turn with the ball just outside the box but messes it up and loses possession.
13.15: Receives the ball on the right wing, under close attention he tries to pass it backwards to Neville but gets it wrong, embarrassingly taps the ball out for an Arsenal throw.
13.30: Does well to put Djourou under pressure, nearly winning the ball in a dangerous area, but Lehmann manages to clear it up.
14.20: Plays a good, if non-penetrative ball across the penalty box for Saha.
16.00: Picks the ball up in a good position with runners on both sides off the ball. However he hesitates and eventually plays a square ball back to Scholes when he could have done better.
16.45: Has an opportunity to play the sprinting Ronaldo in with a simple ball but passes it straight to Gallas instead. Then he doesn't even try very hard to track back.
19.20: Plays a decent ball out of defence to Saha in the centre circle.
19.30: Again plays a ball to the stationary Saha outside the penalty area when there were better options.
26.45: Gets a header from the edge of the box. Tries to loop it over Lehmann, ends up harmless, when a Bolton style flick-on would have been a much better option.
29.30: Plays a bad pass looking for Rooney, gives the ball away.
30.10: Has a hal-decent run with the ball, Ljungberg tackles him, he wins a free kick but Freddie actually won the ball.
30.50: Picks up a loose ball but then gives it away again.
31.25: Has a great opportunity to cross into the box, but instead blasts it into the top tier to groans from the home supporters.
37.20: Follows Rosicky infield, Rosicky then plays the ball back to Gallas on the wing leaving Fletcher badly caught out of position.
41.25: Tracks back well to put Ljungberg under pressure.
42.25: Plays a good ball into the far side of the box, Eboue misses it and it falls to Ronaldo who should have scored. Best and final contribution of the half.
I'm going to do the same thing for Flamini against Chelsea, but I can't help thinking he did better against them than Fletcher did against us.

When you see it like that it looks like some kind of fill the blanks type thing. The mind boggles as to what could follow "I ended up having to eject a load....". Hmm

The ending is there now. :D

What i find truly astonishing about this entire thread is that considering Arsenals form this season & in fact there recent performances against us that so many gooners can be positive and so many devils negative. This match is there for the taking. We have the player of the month fo the last two months bringing new meaning to the word "in-form" & we have a very well rested Giggs ready to come in on the left. We have Scholes playing like a demon & Carrick really starting to show his potential. He have lots of options up front & whilst Rooney might have been off form the last few games you know it'll come good at some point. He's a big game player & this weekend is a big weekend. I wouldn't bet against a vintage performance from him this weekend. It'll be hard fought but theres no reason we won't walk away with the three points.

of course we can. We have as good a chance as any team to win at the Emirates. However, I just think that the form they are in it is slightly more likely that we will lose. It is perfectly possible that we will come away with three points.

I think people here are letting Arsenal's recent displays in the F.A & Carling cup cloud there judgement of the premiership. If you look at the facts in the last five Premiership games both Utd & Arse have scored 14 & conceded 7. Utd have won 4 & drawn 1 whereas Arse have won 4 & lost 1. And not only that i'd argue Utd have had the harder games in Aston V (A(1-3)), Wigan (H(3-1)), Reading (H(3-2)), Newcastle (A(2-2)), Aston V (H(3-1)) with Arsenal facing Blackburn (H(6-2)), Watford (A(1-2)), Sheff Utd (A(1-0)), Charlton (H(4-0)) & Blackburn (A(2-0)). Arsenal havent faced a team in the top ten in there last five games & we have. Arsenal have faced two teams in the bottom three in there last five games we have faced none.
I am not saying this game won't be very hard but i think saying it is "slightly more likely well lose" is daft. If anything it's more likely we will win. We have the best away record in the Premiership & away from home have scored more goals and conceded less than any other team.

My team would be:

VDS
Neville-Ferdinand-Vidic-Evra
Ronaldo-Scholes-Carrick-Giggs
Rooney-Saha

SUBS:
Kuszczak, Heinze, Park, Larsson, Solskjaer.

Good points!

And as compared to the game at Old Trafford, we should have 5 different starters, all of them our current in-form first 11.

Van der Sar for Kuszczak
Vidic for Brown
Evra for Silvestre
Carrick for O'Shea
Giggs for Fletcher

and we should have a much stronger bench, potentially:-
Kuszczak, and 4 of Brown, Heinze, Silvestre, Fletcher, O'Shea, Park, Solskjaer & Larsson.

Furthermore, Rooney now, although is not getting the rub of the green, is in better form than he was then, as is Ronaldo!

Rooney Larsson
Giggs Carrick Scholes Ronaldo
Evra Vidic Ferdinand Neville(c)
Van der Sar

Subs; Kuszczak, O'Shea, J.S.Park, Solskjaer(Heinze), Saha

would you drop Park for Giggs after his brilliant match against Villa, or would you start with Park in this game?
