Arsenal vs. Manchester United

What a pile of absolute fecking shite from United

All the talk of form, confidence, wanting to win both games vs rivals and we put out that shit on a stick display. We didn't even look interested!

This is what is surprising.

All the talk and no display of it at all.

We were probably too complacent.

We were better on the field but the management wasn't up for it today.. But no worries, the old guard will be back next week and that'll be enough. Good to see Berba back today.

Nonsense performance. Why change the system that has been so effective against Arsenal in the past? It worked brilliantly before but this system just didn't work against them. Rooney was doing the job two players today, neither Hernandez or Berbatov got in the game at all, and every time we had a chance it was usually Rooney involved at the end.

Should not have changed the winning formula. Yes we could have had a penalty but no point dwelling on that, we could have given one away earlier but got lucky there ourselves.

How shit. Forced to listen to talksport for the second half. Creaming themselves about Chelsea being favourites now

I believe in the team...I think Park, Valencia were shit today ...but don't forget brothers we still need a tie with Chelsky

losing today will not be a disaster , it is still in our own hands.
Most of the season our away form has been rubbish

True but now Chelsea will be thinking the same!!!

That's it then, but it's still in our hands. Arsenal show how good they can be, shame they can't do it when it matters.

Not saying we've been as bad as Arsenal at bottling it obviously but we have a habbit of messing up and times and letting others back into it. We did it last year and are doing it now. Shame because a draw would have been decent today.

Tittle race wide open now.

Chelsea must be rubbing their hands now.

Considering the season they've had and how they've flown in under the radar I'd say they'd be rubbing their cock never mind hands.

I don't even think Arsenal played that well. Did hardly anything with their possession. Surprisingly they were quite good defensively.

Arsenal outplayed us today, hurts but just have to face it and move on. They deserved the win by far IMO. They showed us how to play football at times in the first half and second half had what was missing, a bit more cutting edge.

Disappointing performance from us today and now we can't afford to lose at Old Trafford but ideally need the win because I'll be shitting my pants if we have to go to Blackburn and get something. Its crazy how its now come to this. Don't get me wrong, totally grateful to be top and in this position of us winning #19 but wow it shouldn't be like this. Bloody Chelsea as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

3 penalties not given apparently makes up for one handball according to the media.

Made to look great due to United's attack playing like shit. But they did defend well when United were anywhere near scoring, which was rare.

Arsenal had a full week off and looked so much fresher...as will Chelsea next weekend. I think we've fecked this title up.

There doesn't appear to be many people in this thread that have faith in SAF and the players.

Strange because all my United supporting friends are still very confident.

We shouldn't have lost, we just didn't look up to it, Anderson was strolling around, our MF never wanted the ball enough...

We still play Chelsea at HOME !!! We haven't lost there yet and we beat them both home and away in the CL...

Why are all the comments so negative ???????

They're actually not. People are just saying that will be the decider, not that we should be scared of them or anything.

I thought United looked very leggy throughout the game..tiredness catching up with them perhaps, and it's normal considering the amount of games that they've played recently. The squad's strength will be tested over the next few weeks..still backing United to get the title, but you're going to have fight and plunder hard for it.

This surely must be the first time in history a club trailing by three points with three matches remaining has been anointed the favorite. If roles were reversed Chelsea would still be the favorite such is the media bias for London clubs.

Seriously...

We weren't poor...

Nani's chance where we were some 4 on two or something was the big one. Should have scored from that break really.

Who is this Jacob guy who opened the thread? I mean who asked him too? I just knew, this is my predictor of games.
Vidared again please

We were poor until they scored. Then it was like "shit, lets play football". Given the set up and players, had we done that from the beginning we wouldnt have lost (probably might have won)

There was no urgency and at times it was like we were playing for a draw. Kinda reminded me of Chelsea at home last season. I hate when we dont go for wins.

We deserved that completely. United, for whatever reason, didn't really perform as well as they could have done - Rooney and Nani were especially poor, in my book. Thought Ferdinand and Fabio had relatively good games though. Central-midfield was non-existent at the end, it was hilarious to watch.

I thought the Owen challenge was a penalty from my angle, but I haven't seen any replays. Vidic was lucky in the first half though, and Foy gave you pretty much everything in the first half. Intriguing to see Song being booked for winning the ball though. Overall, I thought we deserved to win.

Typical Alastair :D

Surely you jest.

In the first half, he seemed to keep getting in our way  At least three times.

I did only say first half - all your penalty shouts, of which I'd only have given one, were in the second half, to be fair.

So the fact the ball hit him three times equals Foy giving everything to United's advantage? Bizarre.

Second half...
Wilshere should have been booked for persistent fouling and Sagna should have walked after his deliberate hack on Rooney late in the second half which should have drew a second yellow. Only Owen was a nailed on penalty but it was never going to be given after the Vidic incident. The handball incident was very close and another ref may have awarded it.

So him giving everything our way is accidentally getting in the way of play.

Hmmm.

I've heard that the Vidic incident was absolutely blatant, but I'll reserve judgement on that until I see it again.

Sagna could not have received a second yellow, given he didn't have one in the first place, so I don't know where you're going with that.

Wilshere didn't foul that often - may I suggest a tad ironic given Fletcher's 9 fouls at OT without a yellow card?

Hmmm.

Add to that the Vidic incident, and just generally being pedantic and stopping advantages. Oh, and when Wilshere was brought down on the edge of the box and it wasn't given, inexplicably. There wasn't an awful lot else to officiate, it was a fast-paced, generally fair, first half.

You really are just like the Arsenal manager. No point in arguing after the above post. It's pointless.

Do you feel hard done by? Because I don't think you have much right to be.

I don't. But I definitely didn't come out of that came feeling the ref gave everything your way in any of the two halves. You Arsenal fans seem to come out with this after every game.

I thought in terms of balance he did alright, simply because in the second half he didn't give you a penalty when arguably you should have had one. And the reason why we come out with it is surely because we're hugely bitter. At least there isn't a five page thread where we claim there's a conspiracy though.
