Not a bad half, I think the midfield is sitting to deep though. Defence is shaky, nearly shat myself when I saw Rio warming up.

This. Speak it softly but instead of looking to cross it every time we got forward we actually used the middle of the pitch. Our centre midfielders were getting forward to support attacks. :eek: Evra was looking up and coming inside when he got the ball like he used to instead of just going down the line. It was so strange. I'd forgotten what it was like not to watch us just launch it long...
 
RVP and Rooney both looking slightly blunt. Apart from that, I felt we had the better chances and contained them very well. Mata looking much better today than he did on the weekend but I think thats much more down to the fact we are actually quite fluid today.
 
Kept it solid which is the main thing; something we haven't done in a while
 
We've also really got nothing to lose on this game. Get Rooney and van Persie in the game more and show some more urgency and direction going forward and we can score a couple here.
 
We would be much better with one of Rooney or RVP on the bench and Mata playing behind the other. We're limiting Mata's influence, he's clearly the most intelligent player in our team.
 
That was a good Everton away performance. And we got to the byline often too. Moyes will be pleased.
 
Need to keep focused on defending. Our best chances have come from counter-attacking rather than possession play. Hope Januzaj comes on in second half.

HT thoughts:

Michael Owen doesn't know what a head injury is.

Rooney showing he's still too immature to be captain material.

Will the real Van Persie please show up.

Vidic you haven't left yet, please start playing.

Rafael. Ow.
 
1) We have no pace anymore, cannot counter attack teams.
2) Limited technical ability apart from Mata & RVP.
3) Cannot pass the ball in tight spaces, which is linked to 2.
4) Rooney has to be moved to accommodate Mata. Mata is the better no.10.
5) Vidic looks really bad nowadays.
 
We've done some good pressing at times. RVP should've done a lot better from his early chance.

Please take Valencia off, he's useless going forward. We'd be better off playing Rafael as winger.

Have mostly kept out of the thread. Are people STILL whining? Christ.

We've been playing well. Solid performance. Mata has been class. Shame Rooney and RvP haven't woken up yet.

I agree, wonder how many will say the same after the match on here.

As long as we keep pressing and defending in numbers by tracking runners we'll be fine. My worry is set pieces, they are causing some trouble
 
Not bad so far, Januzaj for Valencia seems the logical move in the 2nd half. We seem to have discovered the middle area of the pitch though.
 
Both teams are sloppy in possession and too slow on the break away. This smells like a good old 0-0 right now.
 
We're playing well. If we can get an improvement on Cleverley this team would be good against any opposition. That's not a diss on Cleverley, he's played well today, been good, but in the attacking third, he's not very well and it's ruined a couple of attacking chances we could have had.
 
in terms of defending - perhaps our best half all season. We have made few defensive errors and apart from a couple of early tries from Giroud, they haven't created anything. Still we aren't good enough going forward, but this has certainly been a positive half.
 
Am ecstatic - I saw some quick passing between Rooney, RVP and Mata.

Nice to see Mata getting to roam wherever he feels like as well. Gibbs is there for the raping I think the way Arsenal are setup. Valencia needs to go at him or we need to get Januzaj and tell him go take his lunch money.
 
Not a bad half in all. We have looked the better team and looked to control possession more which is surprising. Arsenal have looked dangerous on the counter once or twice which has cost us so many times this season. Little more ingenuity around the box and we should be good for a goal or two.
 
Jaanuzaj for Valencia would be brilliant. I think it would help Rafael to have a winger ahead of him who does something other than just pass it back to him. Our attack would be more fluid with him in.
 
We've been the better team, and the sad truth is, we probably are the better team. Regardless, we shouldn't be anywhere close to being as far behind them as we are.
 
At least we have a shape and reasnable tactic against Arsenals style. Have to lower expectations and hope for moments of skill from a big player.
 
Dull game in terms of chances but combative. Neither side look like scoring.

We should get Mata more involved. He's wasted when he's out wide that much. Came infield couple of times and looked much better. As I said prematch, he'd look much better tucked in from the other side like we've used him so far.
