Arsenal vs. Manchester United

I'm not sure on the scoreline, but I expect to be happy with the line up come Wednesday.

Expecting a partnership of Evans and Smalling at the back, Jones and Carrick in midfield with Januzaj replacing Young on the left.

I think we'll be rattled while you're in a terrible form slump. Important match for both teams. A win for us to get us back on track before the big cup ties, but I never feel confident against United.

When was the last time that a team that got thumped by 4 goals in their previous game go in against us as favorites? This isn't going to be pretty for David Moyes if we don't get at least a point there. He goes with an attacking line-up and he runs the risk of Arsenal running riot, and if he goes with Jones and Valencia/Young in midfield than the fans will be pi**ed if we lose. The season is a write off, all I am interested in now is a decent performance with a decent result, is that too much to ask?

From this team, definitely yes.

I think we'll put in a good performance and lose by 3 goals max.

Very good. Can see getting beat convincingly here, there is absolutely zero to suggest we will even get a point. Confidence isn't low, it's non existant. Moyes will go with Valencia IMO, wouldn't be surprised to see Giggs in midfield too. Steve fecking Sidwell walked through our midfield a couple of times yesterday, I dare not think what will happen with Arteta, Wilshere and Cazorla in there.

I just hope we can take points off Arsenal, shake it up a bit more at the top and hopefully contribute to a downward spiral from Arsenal.

No chance of fourth, but it would be quite nice to contribute to a calamity collapse from Arsenal.
Let's hope so. A point would put a lot of pressure on Arsenal.

With Valencia on the other side. Mata will very likely be benched for this one.

This game can't come fast enough - purely on the off chance that we may get something to be happy about....I doubt it though.
This is the perfect game for Arsenal to bounce back from a big defeat. We will be easy to set up against and nulifly any threat on the wings.
If the odds weren't so short i'd put a bet on Arsenal winning, as it would be easy money.
3-0 Arsenal.
"I thought we did enough to get a point tonight"
"After the first goal our heads dropped and we couldn't get it out wide"
"We go to the byline 999 times, so i'm happy"
Post match presser complete.

We're looking shite but they've been humiliated by Liverpool as well. I wonder how they'll react, the score will depend on it imo.

Expect to see...

De Gea
Rafael Smalling Vidič Evra
Jones Carrick
Valencia Rooney Mata
Van Persie

We might be able to take a point from this.

Win or loss, we will cross until the last second. We will do it.

Crossing against Mertesacker and Koscielny. Honestly after drawing to Fulham at home I simply can't see us get anything out of this game. Arsenal are still in the title race and might have problems against top sides, but comfortably beaten the weaker sides, who we are right now.

3-1 Arsenal.

we'll win this one 2-1, liverpool will draw at fulham and that will mean we cut the gap to just..... ah feck it.

After Adam and Sidwell you'd expect Wilshere and Ozil to run circles around us, but it won't happen. This is Arsenal vs United in mid February we will beat them 3-1. RVP(2), Mata(1) and Cazorla with the consolation. All Arsenal fans I know are not looking forward to this match. We are their bogey side.

I think we might get spanked on Wednesday. 4-1 to them. Even if they are struggling too I can't see us coping with their movement and quick passing.

This might be a different ballgame because Arsenal aren't going to sit back and defend with 10 men.
Some of our crosses might actually make it to RVP. And he usually scores against them.

Damn, just remembered, Mertesacker is another tall fecker isn't he?

He was the only player who showed any variation to the cross or die routine we opted to play. He's a lovely player to watch and was our best player today by some distance.

You seriously think he was poor Rob? In spite of the shit 'spread the ball wide at every opportunity' tactics he's being asked to employ?

For him, yes, if theres one person or group of fans who can judge how good he was its us. It wasnt his fault, it was the way the team played, hes such a great player in the attacking third and that exact tactic you mention was why he was not able to have the same effect for you as he did for us for two seasons, every time he got it he ran through the middle and passed it to the wing. Like I say he was the hungriest player out there but seemed frustrated, Im kind of wondering why David spent a club record fee on him only to carry on playing a style where he might as well have bought Downing.

Edit: Mata- run through the middle and deliver a defence splitting pass through the middle where strikers run onto it, or win a free kick and then score from it. Thats what he does so well, if he continues to be utilized that way he wont be displaying the same level as he did with us.

We'll win this, Arsenal never even attempt to cross, they always try to walk it into the net. We're a great crossing team and we had a fair few crosses in our last game, and we all know crosses = points yeah?

Someone needs to poison Mertesacker's lasagna. Then we can win headers from crosses

What we can't do is attack Arsenal the way we idiotically attacked Fulham -- and I blame the manager and not the players for that. Let's show a little culture and try to retain the ball in the middle third, desperately praying that Arsenal come out and chase us and hoping that we can slip in a few nice through balls in the channels against what I still believe is an ordinary back line.

I have no idea how we defend Arsenal, but sacrifices must be made to the gods that our central defenders maintain their concentration the entire match.

I was, which I know was madness in retrospect. But Im not confident at all about this one.

You wouldn't deserve your username if you weren't a little mad ;)

Please god if we're gonna beat one team from the top 4 let it be Arsenal...

We already beat them :wenger: (I know it feels like ages ago)
