Arsenal vs. Manchester United

We're going to be fired up tonight. After that hiding at Anfield, I am sure we will come out all guns blazing in this game. Whether that leads to a victory is to be seen, but I want to see a spirited performance. A win today will take us back to the top of the table. Let's see if the team can do it.

This is on telly, isn't it? Whenever we play at the same time as a bunch of other games, we don't ever seem to be on. The schedule has been weird this season. Who pulled the brainfart which resulted in the Newcastle/Sunderland game not being on the telly?

Team

Rafael Smalling Vidic Evra
-----------Carrick----------
------mata-------Rooney--
Januzaj-van persie-kagawa

433 turning into 451 in defence. Rooneys days as a forward are number lets start using him as a box to box midfielder

SAF knows how to beat Arsenal. It's an art he's mastered. So I'd think he'd pop into Moyes office and drop him a line or two.

I would love to see:

I'm surprised many people wants Vidic to start. He has been awfull and has cost us goals this season with silly mistakes.
I've more confidence in trio of Evans,Smalling and Jones to do a better job right now then Vidic. And If Evans is fit then I'd like to see him partnering Smalling, with Jones moving into midfield alongside Carrick.

Stupid BT Sport showing this game... this means I have to actually go to a public venue to watch this, where there will be other people present.

In the centre of Leeds.

Wankers.

I'd be all for this provided we actually play on the ground. If we want to pump balls into the box again then we may as well have Young and co.

Love the design, reminds me of Championship Manager 99/00

Why is everyone saying januzaj will start?

If moyes didnt trust him against fulham and stoke he wont against the arse.

If you think he relied on wings against Fulham...just see what he does tonight. It will be valencia and probably young too, wouldnt be surprised if mata or rvp get dropped.

I see Jones playing in midfield and trying to do the exact same job he did at OT against them.

It's actually quite an ideal game for Moyes IMO.

I think he thought we could win both of those games without him and saved him for this one.
Another masterplan gone wrong

I get a feeling we might start with two wingers again. And Valencia or Young will be one of them, with Mata out wide left :(.

I think there's only about 7 chances left for us to do the double over teams (Arsenal, West Ham, Villa, Crystal Palace, Norwich, Hull, Sunderland... i think)

To be fair, we should beat Hull, Sunderland and Norwich at Old Trafford... should being the operative word.

0-0 written all over it. Losing would absolutely kill both teams whilst drawing is actually no better anyway.

Yeah should is that operative word that was used against Fulham, West Brom , Swansea in the cup etc :-)

I think this is the type of game he should try something completely new. We aren't expected to win the game but he has a lot to gain by winning it. Stop with the wingers and the 'bum rush in the box' tactics we've had for the last couple of years and try something different.

Soooooo cut inside and cross?

I don't think there is any problem with the line up, we have good players in all positions, but it won't make any difference if we play the same way we've been playing under Moyes.
Again, I don't think there is an issue with the way you have been playing against the bigger sides. Some of your performances in the Cl, and a couple in the league are testament to that.

I think Moyes's problem is a severe underrating of how well your central midfield can link with your attack. He's out of his depth for the job in the long run, but speaking about tonight, I feel a minor tweak to tactics to make you more potent on the counter will be the way he will go. And it could just pay dividends.

Wouldn't it be great if the Fulham game, and others before it, were all part of a long-con from Moyes and co...

Make everyone think that all we do is Cross... go out of our way to prove it, then in this game, everytime we shape to cross, we actually do something entirely different! Arsenal won't know what's hit them....

That would be a tactical plan..Nah :-)
