Arsenal vs. Manchester United

Kagawa injured?

And on second thoughts, I'd have preferred Young as I think Mata would be better tucked in from the right than the left.

Mata is left footed, makes much more sense to have him on the left where he doesn't have to cut back inside and try to play football.

4-4-2. Fantastic. Mata out wide. Awesome. Two in midfield against Arteta, Wilshere, Rosicky. Freakin' excellent. 4-4-2.

I can't fecking believe Moyes is doing the same thing over and over again. And why the hell is Adnan being frozen out now? Yes, he had like 25 minutes against Fulham, but that's his only game time in weeks!

Sky have us down for 12 players starting. I am now confident.

I can live with it even though I'd prefer Januzaj over Valencia from the start.
I think we all would, but the width, it's all about the width. Can't try and be adventurous when our league campaign is done with.

That team can win on paper. Moyes tactics are the question mark.

How funny would it be if we actually try out Mata in a role where he's tasked with beating the RB and whipping crosses in?

Decent side that. I think Januzaj could be pivotal coming off the bench rather than starting.

Looking forward to seeing more of Mata. He, Rooney and RVP have a good record of scoring against Arsenal. So, we're nailed on to score at least 3

I can't live with Valencia and Cleverley starting these matches, especially with the likes of Januzaj on the bench.

Where else is he going to play with Rooney and van Persie both playing?
Put Rooney on the left and Mata in the middle. Mata is one of the best #10's in the world, he's on a different level to Rooney when it comes to playing in the hole, as good as Rooney is.

He's too worried we might get exposed, too cautious. If he's not gonna start with that quartet against Fulham like hell he'll do it at the emirates.

The worrying thing is that it seems as if we felt Januzaj wasn't our best winger or one of the first names on our team sheet over the past few months where he's often been the only shining light. It's been Young/Valencia + 1. I thought we were just giving him a rest after we signed Mata but he hasn't started a game since the Sunderland and has only made two short sub appearances.

He possesses great crossing ability, don't be surprised to see him running down to the by-line tonight.

Yeah, it's a proper traditional 4-4-2 this one isn't it? Of course it is, of course it is. A proper traditional 4-4-2. I understand all the rage, completely.

Another brain dead decision to start Valencia. Yes, he tracks back well but he offers very little offensive threat. He drills his crosses into the ankles of the fullback defending him or, in a moment of inspiration, holds the ball up for 8-10 seconds while the back line sorts itself out.

But if Januzaj can come on for Valencia no later than the 60th minute then Moyes gets a pass for another otherwise sensible starting XI.

You would advocate dropping one of Rooney or Van Persie and playing Fellaini instead?

I mentioned nothing about dropping either of them but that doesn't mean we have to play in a 4-4-2 system which is how we will end up lining up tonight.

Fellaini the only CM option by the looks of it, which lends credence to the rumours about Jones which is unfrojate.

What has Kagawa done to warrant his banishment though? Not even a place on the today FCOL.

Agreed. If Mata is having trouble getting past Gibbs to the byline, Januzaj could be the man to replace him.

Moyes continues his habit of always starting one of Valencia/Young, very disappointed Januzaj doesn't start. I hope we have some more tactics other than constantly crossing the ball.

We really should implement the Chelsea formation. Front six of:

RvP

Januzaj/Young Rooney Mata

Carrick Fletcher

3 interchangable attacking midfielders/wingers switching for most of the game. Sadly, the inclusion of Valencia means we'll see none of this.

Ideally, Mata would be our regular attacking midfielder and Rooney would play as the left sided forward in a 433. A progressive manager could make that work with ease. Dithering Dave prefers Rooney and Van Persie standing on each other's toes, attempting to get on the end of cross after cross.

Is Kagawa injured ? A bit disturbing if he isn't.

We should, but we wont. It should have happened last season with Kagawa and Nani but it didn't. Valencia must be doing something we don't know about.

Sigh. We won't even try to play football.

Hoofball and crosses, let them commence. I'm tired of watching this horrific Moyes-football.

Can't we sack him and replace him with Ian Holloway or something? They've won as much but at least Holloway gives a good interview and tries to have his teams play football...

We have the least consistant starting 11 in the league, surely?
I think I saw someone say that we haven't played the same lineup twice this season. Don't think it's true but there always seems to be one change at least, or Moyes always putting just 1 player that nobody wants to see. Never puts out the lineup we all want...
