Arsenals chances of a top 4 finish this season

Man Utd fans go nuts and expose their genitals over Brazilians. Same old nonsense with Anderson as well.

Nah, not really.

The only similarity is both obviously got huge natural talent, and potential.

Rafael's a far more accomplished player at this stage than Anderson, I'd say. His performances have more often been of the quality required. And he fits his role better, so to speak.

Anyway enough discussion about Rafael. Take it to the United forum, please.

I hate to say it, but I do think Walker's a better player. Not twice the player, but I know who I'd choose in a big game.

I agree. At this moment in time, I'd say Walker is the better player.

Rafael is a talented full back though, make no mistake about it.

To be fair it is just Glaston "Always Wrong" Spur and the Gooners who are still hurting

Either way it doesn't really matter. Rafael seems to be one of those players pulled in the extreme on here.

I don't tend to enjoy bigging up Spurs players unless absolutely necessary. Or unless they're about to leave, in which case they're top class.

Walker is twice the RB that Rafael is or will ever be.

Rafael isn't even in the top 4 of best RBs in the Prem ... let alone "one of the best young right-backs in the world"

I'd rather have the player who has been tested and often excelled at a much higher level, rather than the mid-table Europa League player.

Maybe Walker will fulfil his undoubted potential at a big club someday.

It's easy to look good at Spurs.

Are we really saying Kyle Walker is a better player than Rafael?

this place, ha ha.

I think he is. Last season was a better season than any full season Rafael's shown.

That's not to say he'll be the better player forever. Rafael's a fantastic talent.

In fairness, you can still get found out there. Look at some of their CBs over the years. Clogger central.

You certainly don't tend to enjoy bigging up United players!

Liverpool players on the other hand....

Walker - very promising young player!
Rafael - very promising young player!

Doesn't take a master in sports science to see that.

Spurs are the main reason why Arsenal will finish in the top 4. If the gooners had better competition then it would be interesting!

... .

So 1 point off 3rd place is the new "mid-table" eh?

I guess it fits with the revisionism that defines Rafael as world-class

I agree that's bollocks about 1 point off being mid table. It's also bollocks Rafael is world class, and anyone thinking it is mental. He's still young and very promising. I think this year could be a big one for him.

If only he could stop smashing himself up Phil Jones style.

Is there a player at Spurs that isn't twice the player that his equivalent at Man Utd though? You have a much much stronger team than us.

"one of the best young right-backs in the world"

You see, that's definitely not calling him world class.

I think it's fair to say that Danny Welbeck is "one of the best young strikers in the world".

But I think it's quite different to calling Danny Welbeck world class.

Surely you could spot the difference, if you weren't so quick at bursting into a thread at every hint of a suggestion that one of Tottenham Hotspurs players isn't better than their United-counterpart.

I think Arsenal have a very good chance of making fourth. They have a better squad than Liverpool, Chelsea are a bit of unknown quantity and Spurs are going to lose one of their best players and are left with Defoe. Two out of those four have to make the top four and Arsenal probably have the best chance out of all of them.

You know, of course, that this is quite irrelevant to any comparison of Walker and Rafael. Which makes it a pointless comment.

De Gea vs Friedel?
Rafael vs Walker?
Evra vs Asou Ekotto?
Rio vs Kaboul
Vidic vs Dawson
Valencia vs dos Santos?
Carrick vs Parker?
Cleverley vs Sigurdson?
Nani vs Bale?
Rooney vs van der Vart?

So far I know Bale, Sandro, Parker, Modric and Walker would all walk into our team. I seem to remember you saying that either Gomes or Friedel was better than De Gea.

What about Kaboul, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Adebayor, van der Vaart and Defoe?

OK, so there's a difference, albeit not much of one.

That doesn't make the original claim any less ludicrous, since, as I've said, Rafael isn't even one of the best 4 RBs in the Prem ... let alone dragging global references into the frame.

As for "bursting in", is this (just like 1 point off 3rd is apparently the new "mid-table") the new term for a post that dares to disturb claims of greatness concerning a particular MUFC player?

There are several players at MUFC who are better than their Spurs equivalent. Rafael ain't one of them.

Jesus ... how did I know this was coming?

MUFC fan can't abide any criticism of any MUFC player from any fan of another club without going so far off the tracks that the train no longer knows whether it's coming or going.

If you really need to get into this I can only suggest you start a whole bunch of new, player-by-player threads. Have fun.

Tbf to Walker, he is the current PFA Young Player of the Year and was named in the PFA Team of the Year which is far more recognition than Rafael has achieved on the domestic scene.

Until Rafael nails down the RB slot without getting injured or being left out by Fergie, you can understand why opposition supporters remain sceptical about him.

No problems taking criticism about our players, but I find it hilarious if someone are suggesting that Rafael isn't a very talented, young player!

See post #910 and join in the fun.

Oh, and maybe also check your "post accuracy-quotient".

I'm sure PeterStorey just phoned Talksport for a mammoth rant under the guise of 'Martin'

What is about Man Utd and Brazilians? Some guy who still can't defend to save his life is the best RB in the league, inside every fat man there's a world-class midfielder waiting to get out, let's bid £32M for some 19-year-old who can do neat keepy up on the Copacabana.

Nobody says Rafael is the best right back in the league. I know Van Persie transfer has hit you hard but stop being a fecking moron.

Dunno if anyone claimed Rafael is the best RB in the league.

Personally, I think Sagna and Ivanovic are, followed by Johnson. However, give Rafael 3-4 seasons, and I think he's at least at their current level, if not better.

Oh yes they fecking do - just google them. That's what so fecking dumb.

Meh you get dumb fans all over. Al called Song the best DM in the league. Fans say dumb shit all the time.

I agree with Cnut that Sagna, Johnsen and Ivanovic are all better than Rafael. the latter is all potential still.
