Arsenals chances of a top 4 finish this season

Oh yes they fecking do - just google them. That's what so fecking dumb.

I'm talking about the Caf here only. Internet, by large has loads of morons.
For eg- I'm sure there are some Arsenal fans somewhere on internet who believe Frimpong has the ability to become a world class midfielder.

I'm not sure how "one of the best young right backs" = "best right back in the league".

Surely even if that is slightly exaggerated(to say Rafael is the best young right back in the world), it doesn't make him the best right back in the league. Also who are the young right backs in this world?

Rafael has started for Brazil in the right times and generally had a very good Olympics barring that match against Mexico. He's one of the best young right backs in the world.

A few years ago people were being ridiculous in their praise for Rafael. It seems that has all gone towards Welbeck.

Jesus ... how did I know this was coming?

MUFC fan can't abide any criticism of any MUFC player from any fan of another club without going so far off the tracks that the train no longer knows whether it's coming or going.

If you really need to get into this I can only suggest you start a whole bunch of new, player-by-player threads. Have fun.

It's not the criticism, it's the fact that you are certain that a 21-year old right back will never be half as good as another 21-year old right back.

A great Trade Union, bet you don't belong. I don't have to google redcafe to find stupidities about Man Utd players (especially Brazilians) they're unavoidable (see this thread).

You can stick your trade unions up your arse!

Of course therebare stupid things said about United players on an United fan forum. I am sure that's the case re. Arsenal players on Arenal forums too.

Cina put it best in that strange thread about Rafael being a potential future captain:

That's probably fair enough. I rate him highly and expect him to develop into one of the best right backs out there eventually, but I expect it'll take more than two years and to say he will be the very best right back in the world unquestionably is very bold and optimistic at this stage. He's not the most overhyped Man United player in the forum, but some are overexcited, shall we say, by him.

Yeah they will finish 4th because they have the 4th best squad with the 2nd best manager. 4th should be the minimum expectation again.

I still think they'll finish ahead of Chelsea, personally.

A few star signings won't fix the fundamental flaws they have.

Personally I'd prefer to discuss Arsenal's chances of a top 4 finish now they've lost their best 2 players.

OK. So they've lost a striker who produced 53% of their total goals last seasons, plus (it seems) a player - Song - who was basically the mainstay of their CM last season.

In return, so far they've signed the very talented Cazorla, plus Podolski and Giroud ... all three of which may take some time to adjust, as may the Arsenal team as a whole given the loss of two such influential players.

Of course they have Wilshere to come back ... but when exactly, and how much of a 'hit' his performances may take from his injury, is still very much open to question.

Their defence last season was very leaky (conceded only 3 less goals than WBA). It may improve this time around, but by how much?

You have to think that the continuing player exodus will have an effect on squad morale and cohesion, with many players thinking "who'll be next to jump ship?"

All in all, I'm not convinced so far that Arsenal will be better than last season ... and they may be significantly worse.

There's a crucial difference between those statements.

As someone mentioned, you could equally think that Welbeck is one of the best young strikers in the world. Doesn't mean he's as good as Rooney or Van Persie or anywhere near to the best strikers in the league.

Rafael is definitely in and amongst the best young RBs in the world, of course he is. If you were drawing a list of most promising young RBs you'd have to have a lobotomy to exclude him.

Agree

But they will be better than the likes of Liverpool and Spurs.

Rafael's easily one of the best young right backs in the world.

Who's better right now at his age or close to it?

Yeah sorry, I did a search for what Boring posted but I seem to have missed your 'young'. Despite quoting it myself yesterday...

In my defence, I'm quite tired.

Spurs need to sign a striker or two before they can be considered as genuine contenders for top4. Can't take them seriously when they have got Defoe as the only striker on their books.

Ah, but we also have Harry Kane ... our secret weapon ;)

Actually in fairness to Glaston, this is looking quite a good fit for Arsenal these days:
