This is happening. Player seems keen, we are very keen and Juve are sounding like they'd sell if a decent offer was put on the table. This could be a superb Summer.

It will be the same answers again. Juve will sell for a decent amount, but they would make it seem as if the player forced the move, to appease the fans.
If you're going to ask them to take Anderson off our hands you'll have to compensate them accordingly. I'm not even joking either.
The fact that clubs like Real, Barca and Chelsea have already signed great midfielders makes me slightly more confident.

I think Arsenal, Chelsea and City all have a decent chance of winning the title next season. Very much up in the air for Liverpool and us. Although if we both spend heavily and wisely this summer then I think it's fair to assume there will be 5 teams all with a good chance of winning the league. The PL is definitely more open and competitive than it was in the past and the winner would be harder to predict than in most other leagues I can think of (although who would have predicted Aletico's campaign last season?).

I feel we still have to do some good business to be able to compete with them for the title. Atm we might be top 4 challengers but not more I fear.
WIth Vidal, a CB and a winger incoming much could change though.

It often looks like it is shaping up to be "much closer than usual" over the summer but once things get underway there is usually a small group contesting it. Actually this summer I see the opposite, I cant remember the last time I had so much conviction about who the champions would be: Chelsea.

Last seaon in England was great craic, but it was a blip, like Athletico's blip. And one to do with a drop off in the top teams rather than quality in depth in my opinion. It has traditionally been a 2 horse race. Us v Arsenal. Us V Chelsea. I think now it's Chelsea V City. The Bundesliga is undergoing Bayern Dominance, but Dortmund won in 2 years on the bounce and there has been 5 winners in 10 years. Very few leagues have a deep pool of potential winners and the English League is no different when you look at it broadly.
I think it's unlikely they will partake in a "part exchange", I do however thing that United are using the Evra transfer as a way of getting them to the table with leverage on them and can use the transfer as a form of goodwill.
If (when) we do sign him, I think it is likely to be announced that Evra is joining them for X amount followed by the transfer of Vidal a few days later for X Amount.
Arsenal have done good business so far. If we can do the same in the remaining period I don't see why it should only be a two horse race. Granted the Chelsea team under a manager like Mourinho looks pretty damn good but still.

Agree it's Chelsea v City, although I don't think you can disregard Arsenal now they've finally unleashed their cheque-book. I have my doubts about Wenger's ability to steer a team to a PL title again but Arsenal aren't that far off having a squad capable of going all the way and probably haven't finished spending yet.
When you throw Liverpool and United in the mix (even if you assume Liverpool were the English equivalent of Atletico, last season) it does look as though there are more teams with genuine title-winning pedigree in England than in any other league. Not by a margin but the difference between having 3 or 4 contenders, compared to 2 or 3.

I think our squad's still a massive ruddy mess and we needs a lot of sorting out before we can even consider talking about a potential title challenge. Hopefully with van Gaal finally here this week he'll start to do that.
Right now, I'd say Arsenal have a much better chance than us of winning the league. And I'm an optimist!

Van Gaal's got a nightmare job too. So may players let themselves down last season, there's a risk of throwing babies out with the bathwater if he's too aggresive with his cull. But how's he supposed to seperate the wheat from the chaff un such a short space of time?
I reckon I could have crammed at least one more aphorism in there, if I really tried.
Im allowing my optimism to be stoked by such factors as:
- Van Gaal's record of winning leagues with new clubs at the first time of asking;
- it was all Moyes' fault and our squad are still champions at heart;
- with a midfielder everything will slip into place;
- if I keep saying something enough times it might come true;
- the spirit of Woodward
Very complex deal this. We are putting together a package that includes Bebe + Nani + Evra + Young + Fletcher + Amos + Petrucci + Vermijl + Zaha + Anderson + Flintoff from the cricket. Juve are understandably excited to pick up so many players in the deal but there has been a snag over special clauses in Anderson's contract relating to Italian desserts, and Flintoff's wage demands. We can only cross our fingers on this one.

Juve were not felling for that at all, even when we tried to sneak it past them with poor spelling. Added another £5m to the price.
